Haggis II

I was referred to Haggis II by a friend of a friend and I was beyond satisfied with their service, professionalism, and pricing. Haggis came on site the week I called them, gave me pricing shortly after and did a fantastic job from start to finish. I highly recommend using them for any home improvement or renovation projects. Top notch!

I called Haggis II 8 days ago (on a Thursday, prior to Memorial day, 2015). I spoke to Connor and he said that he was on a job and asked if he could call me back on Monday so we could set up an appointment for an estimate (not remembering that Monday was Memorial day, I guess… to be fair, neither did I). I should have taken that as a sign…
So, making the assumption that on Tuesday, I would get my call, I was sadly mistaken. Once again, to be fair, I was busy doing things, realized on Wednesday evening that I hadn’t received my call and decided to call again on Thursday.
I called, spoke to Connor again, he apologized, said he had forgotten (hmm, this is becoming a thing) that he had a new job that he had to start this week, but he would have his partner, Jim, call me Friday morning.
The time is currently 2:51 pm on Friday 5÷29÷15. I still haven’t gotten a call from Jim nor from Connor. So, I can make an educated guess that either Connor has a terrible memory or Jim has some suck similar issue.
Currently, I’m going with Connor having a memory issue. I would have liked to have at least have received an estimate, but we are past that point. Any place that doesn’t want my money, I have no problem with not giving it to them. If they’re either too forgetful or too busy to have time for me, then I surely wouldn’t have wanted them to work on my house.
Anyway, I called Connor a few minutes ago, got voicemail (not sure if he was busy or realized that it was that pesky possible customer calling back again and having realized that I hadn’t received a callback this morning, didn’t want any part of my possible anger).
I left a message, managed to keep it civil (I don’t owe the swear jar anything after that call) and think I got my point across to not bother to call me back (not that I had a chance of getting a callback anyway).
So, the moral of this story is, Connor may be forgetful or too good for my money. Either way, not a good sign for me. Thanks, but no thanks.

I needed a new drywall ceiling to cover up ducts that were added for an AC install. Haggis II was on time, polite and responsive to my request. Conor and his partner came by for the initial estimate, then stopped in to check on their crew while they were working and came back to check the final result. The drywaller and painter were both very polite and did great work. I am very pleased with the result and would happily work with them again in the future.

If love to be able to tell you about all the great services I’ve received… But I can’t. The company’s POOR communication is what’s causing me to leave a negative review.
They came out to do an estimate and said I’d get my quote in a few days so I followed up via email to see where my quote was days after and I still don’t have it! (Even after an apology from Conor and reiteration that I’d have it). If they’re «too busy» I would say that’s a great problem to have. Hire another contractor or admin for your office. You just wasted my time getting the estimate.
Also — I support local businesses and also clearly have no problem when saying someone did a good/​bad job (as well as sharing it with my multiple home owning friends) so in my opinion… You just lost multiple customers by not having my referral. I hate when someone over promises and under delivers… Wasting my time.

My husband and I recently purchased an old home in Elmhurst and did a complete renovation of the 1^st floor. We called Haggis to have them come out and check out the work we needed done — hanging new drywall in our kitchen, hallways, and bathroom. The man that came was very professional and nice. They gave us a fair quote and finished the work in a timely manner. We couldn’t be happier with the work they completed. We have our dream house!

These guys are true professionals. I had my kitchen remodeled before selling my condo and I’m happy I picked Haggis II to do the job. Communication was great from start to finish, and because I was close to another job they were doing they came out the very same day that I originally called and gave me a quote on the spot. They even recommended a few changes to my original plan to save me a few bucks without sacrificing the quality of the project, which is obviously rare these days. I’ll definitely be recommending them to friends and family and calling them next time I need a project completed.

In all fairness, I never worked with Haggis and I am really disappointed that I never had the opportunity. My condo building is in need of tuckpointing work and we’re getting some water leakage around the windows. After reading the awesome reviews on Unilocal,I was anticipating working with reliable contractors (finally!). They showed up for the estimate appt. precisely on time and they were extremely polite, friendly and thorough during the walk-​through. After not hearing from them for a few weeks, I received an email apologizing for the delay and assured that I would have an estimate well before my condo board meeting. It never came. I emailed them after the meeting to express my disappointment and stated that if they weren’t interested in taking on the work, I wish they would have let me know. I received a response stating that they were really busy (which I think is a reason most businesses are in business – to be busy), and if I would still consider them, they would send an estimate the next day. I told him I would and this is primarily due to the excellent first impression I received during their walk-​through. Guess what? Its days later and I have no estimate, no email… just radio silence. Needless to say, we’ve decided to work with another company.

Haggis II was a pleasure to work with and provided impeccable service. Our company was in need of some remodeling work and it needed to be done fast. I called Haggis to request a quote and in a couple of hours, Jim was at our office checking out the space. In a few days, we had a team of workers in and out of the office, hanging brick wall paper, putting up sound boards, mounting flat screens, hanging curtains and putting up various decals. The work was very professional and prompt. Haggis will be the first company in mind should more work arise. Thanks again Haggis!

I gave Haggis II a call on a referral from a friend of a friend. They were incredibly prompt, quite polite, and most importantly, they were very reasonably priced. I had called a bunch of other contractors off Unilocal for prices on a roof project and after speaking with them I was convinced.
From beginning to the end it was a great experience, no hassles, no inconveniences, and no extra charges when I got the bill. My wife had a few concerns about some of the materials and James was easy to contact by both phone and email. The project was clean and the workers were polite too.
I hardly ever go out of my way to write reviews on Unilocal,but I felt like I had to get the word out about these guys. Too often people get ripped off by contractors looking for a quick buck or scammed by others using inexperienced labor and shotty materials. These guys are the real deal and I would recommend them to anyone out there.

Haggis II did a PHENOMENAL job meeting my contracting needs. I was on a tight deadline to get my house interior walls re-​painted this past month and not only did they work with me to promptly schedule services they did an outstanding job with respect to the quality of their work. The team of contractors who helped complete the painting services at my home were both professional in their demeanor and detail-​oriented in their work. I was anxious before they started painting and was quickly relieved when they began to point out issues with the walls, etc. that were in need of attention. For example, there was some water damage on the ceiling and a seam on the crown molding that were in need of repair. They promptly brought these to my attention and offered solutions to correct. It was quite refreshing to have a team of individuals who clearly took pride in their work and wanted to ensure that as their customer my needs were met. I can honestly say, they were met and my expectations were exceeded. I would recommend the Haggis II team of contractors for painting work to anyone looking for a team of quality professional painters.
