one of the best places to eat in the neighborhood. Food was fantastic. Service was a little awkward. This seems to be more of a take out place than a dine in place, but the quality food makes this place worthy of 5 stars. My Beef Kabab was one of the best I’ve ever had.

This place is great! We live a couple blocks away and have ordered to go a couple times, food is always fresh, portion sizes are large and the service is always great. We get the combo kabobs… kefta, chicken and steak. Great grilled flavor… the hummus is creamy. All for a great price too! Give this place a go!

This is the place to go if you love hummus they have the best creamy version. I always get their lunch special has a little bit of everything but it’s fresh and delicious. It’s close to my husband’s job so when we go to lunch this is one of our fave spots to go.

Their HUMMUS! Like non other in the area. I LOVED the babaganush and falafels. Everything was very good and fresh. We order for pick up and they were very fast. The owner even threw some desserts in for my kids. Very good service and very good food.

The food here is so good! The baba ghanouj is, in my opinion, the best in the city. The falafel are awesome, very flavorful and always just the right balance of crunchy outside and soft inside. I’ve ordered a lot of things on the menu, and brought both vegetarians and avid meat eaters, and everyone is impressed. I’m so lucky to have this place in walking distance from my house.

We found this place through groupon and I’m glad I made the purchase. The food sampler was amazing and tasted amazing for he minimal price we paid. I highly recommend the chicken Kebabs. If you’re looking for a quick bite and craving Mediterranean food check this place out.

A five star rating made up the hard way, by a combination of things. First things first, we were greeted quickly and menus brought to us right away. Pleasantries were made and our order taken done quickly. There was a wait for our food, however it arrived freshly prepared, hot, and with very ample servings. My husband had the tilapia and I the chicken kabobs, he cleaned his plate, so I’ll just take that as evidence that it was good, I don’t eat fish anyway. I only could eat half of mine, I wanted to do better because the chicken was very moist, with a nice char on it and the spices just right. We also had hummus, falafel and pita bread. All good. My only disappointment was the offerings for soda was either can or bottle, I prefer fountain Coke, and the availability of refills(no Bloomberg lectures please) even through I know it’s bad for you. This place is like visiting a friends house for a meal, friendly, homey, relaxed and they know how to cook. There wasn’t one thing over the other, it just all came together very well.

Terrific Arab food. I moved to the city in July and have been looking for something to match my Israeli palate, which is somewhat different than most traditional Lebanese or Syrian Arab spots. But here you get the Palestinian cuisine. Absolutely brilliant. Taste is authentic as you can get. Only complaint is the fries aren’t fresh cut and probably come from some frozen bag, and sometimes they use thin pita instead of the thick fluffy pita that is the norm in the Middle East. Regardless, legitimately delicious food. Shawarma here is as good as any in town. Felafel is to die for as well. And if you’ve never had Mediterranean style pickles, try them. Tremendous meal really, and the prices are fair. I have my whole workplace coming here for lunch and all of us love it.

It’s good, a little bit on the pricey side, but good. Should get on the lunch special train.

While Hala In is a bit pricier than other restaurants serving the same food, I must say that their food is delicous and fresh! Ordered from them using grub hub, and my experience was a good one. The food arrived in less than an hour, nothing was missing, and everything was yummy.

Very tasty! It’s slightly expensive for delivery. However, there is an affordable Groupon option. I highly recommend you check this out. I was impressed with the falafel.

Went on a Saturday afternoon with a Groupon deal. For some reason, we did not get served anything for over 30 minutes when all the other tables were getting complimentary pita. Waitress did not come back once to assure us that the food was coming out. they were working on it. didn’t offer us anything actually. Horrible service. food was mediocre after all that waiting. Air conditioning broke too… so it was hotter than Hades in there. Terrible. Never coming back.

You can tell there’s a lot of love going into the cooking here. Fresh ingredients, elegant presentation, amazing lentil soup. I’ll be back for more!

I never post on Unilocal anymore, but am making an exception for Hala. I was very shocked to come on here and see that that Hala has worse reviews than several restaurants that I’ve found to be seriously inferior. Hala’s food is simply amazing. It takes serious restraint to not order it multiple times per week. My favorites are the shawarma, baba ganoush, and the grape leaves. It’s always all cooked to perfection. Living in Albany Park, I’ve made a point to try all the other middle eastern restaurants that are in walking distance. Every single time, I bemoan the fact that their food just isn’t Hala quality. Other grape leaves tend to be cold and mushy and other baba ganoush just seems bland. Even the rice from Hala is significantly better. If I get married, I’ll seriously considering having this place cater my wedding.

We came here with a groupon for a 3 course tasting. Apparently, this was a separate menu with limited choices. Annoying, but understandable. I ordered falafel and chicken shawerma. It came with a ton of rice too. The food was good. Chicken was tender and the falafel was flavorful. Service was a bit slow, which was surprising since we were there at an off time and there was only one other person eating there. For dessert, we had baklava. There was so much food. I was stuffed! I get the feeling this isn’t really an eat in place. There are plenty of tables, but it seemed like most customers were for carry out. There isn’t really much in terms of décor either. I would order take out from this place again. Lots of tasty food for a reasonable price.

The worst, most dry falafel we’ve ever eaten. And sealed like a panini(?). Lentil soup was really not good either. Didn’t get our pop either from our combo on delivery. Very disappointed for $ 40.

I have to say, living in this neighborhood you have plenty of options for Mediterranean. But being the good local home owner I wanted to support my local economy. But it is disappointing to order from a place, feel like you’re being overcharged and realizing that you are. The lamb kabob entrée consisted of 6 pieces of lamb and a tray full of rice all for $ 15. You’re expecting a delicious meat plate and ending up with rice with meat scraps. Ridiculous and upsetting. I live a few houses down, will not be ordering from here again. Disappointing because it actually tastes great, but they rip off customers.

There are things in Rosa J’s life that she regrets. When she numerously passed by Hala In because she was making excuses for having a difficult day at work or just being tired, she made a conscious decision on skipping this wonderful place. From now on, there’s no more going home… directly…Hala In has officially hooked her up! I don’t know how many times I’ve passed back and forth while riding on the CTA81(Lawrence) bus. I’m now very mad at myself and keeping asking myself why I didn’t try this place when I was given a plenty of opportunities. Being an avid Unilocaler receives a number of benefits, including a small order of hummus on the house. It may sound very cliché, but their hummus is one of the best I’ve ever had. If you think many of those middle eastern eateries in downtown and in other Chicago neighborhoods have the best hummus, think twice. I challenge you! I also had the grilled tilapia. Wow, what a well-seasoned piece of fish! It also came with salad, rice, and grilled veggies on the side. Everything was delicious. Hubby’s falafel platter, on the other hand, had fifteen(15) pieces of falafel! Yes, he counted for me in case I wanted to share this piece of information with you all. For $ 8.99, that wasn’t bad at all. We also shared the Arabic coffee since neither of us tried it before. What a discovery! I’m now in love with this and can’t get enough of it. The saffron and clovers in the coffee were unique, yet harmonious without giving you too much«buzz.» I had an awesome experience at Hala In tonight. I need to come back, ASAP!

My bro found this place and asked me if I wanted to go. After looking at the Unilocal reviews, prices, and pictures; I agreed to go. I also invited my sister and cousins to come along for the ride. We were very excited because the food in the pics looked amazing and the prices were relatively generous. We walked into this little gem at the corner off Lawrence. The lady greeted us with a genuine smile and seated us immediately. Water and the menus followed right after. I told her about the free small hummus with a check-in and she acknowledged it and brought it out. Something else she did was allow my sister to also get another free hummus with her check-in too! We were very thankful for her kindness. Not only was the hummus free, it was probably the best hummus I’ve ever had. It was so nicely blended and seasoned and served with pita bread. This hummus also had some lemon and olive oil mixed into it — nicely and perfectly executed. I ordered the combo platter which had chicken kebab, chicken shawarma, beef, and yellow rice with it. Delicious! Wow, I almost ordered one to go. It was seasoned so brilliantly. The meats were so tender and flavorful. My bro ordered the stuffed grapes leaves too. I’ve never had that so it was nice to try it for the first time. Very simple yet yummy! Also, best falafel I’ve ever had! Service was excellent here! She was so nice and did a great job. She kept getting us more water, bringing out pita bread, asked us if we needed anything else, etc. She even went back and gave us separate checks when we asked. It was very convenient for us and we are thankful for how nice she was. We will be back and I highly recommend!
