I love Hannah’s Bretzel. I’ve always believed that the most important part of a good sandwich is good bread, and the bread here is amazing. Soft yet toothsome with just the right amount of saltiness. I’ve gotten a few different sandwiches at Hannah’s, so far my favorite is the Sirloin. Unlike a place like Potbelly or Jimmy John’s, the beef isn’t like background noise. It’s a front and center delicious medium rare with just the right amount of toppings for some flavor and texture contrast. My favorite part of coming here is that there’s never a line! I’m guessing it’s not super popular because the portion sizes are quite small, but what you do get is of fantastic quality. The only negative is the price, a sandwich and chips with no drink will run you about $ 11 or more, and again that is for a pretty slim portion size. It’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for a sandwich that you’ll really enjoy, not just one that you’ll scarf down mindlessly. The staff is universally kind and very efficient, I’m able to get in and out in only a couple minutes even during peak weekday lunch rush. Give it a shot if you’re looking for an alternative sandwich option in the west loop.

I like their sandwiches and this was an easy 5-star go-to spot for lunch. I would go 2 – 3 times per week. But my low rating is due to the lack customer service from the founder/CEO. During my last visit, I got a sandwich that was literally dripping with sauces. It was WAY more than any of the hundred sandwiches I had previously had. It was a mustard-pesto sandwich with a little bit of chicken and avocado. After I got the sandwich, I scraped off as much as snapped a picture of how much it was to share with the management. I assumed they would want to know. I emailed customer service and got a reply back saying I should have spoken up and corrected the sandwich maker, and said some customers want that much sauce. The rep ended by saying he hopes my next visit isn’t too«saucy.» I replied back with my disappointment, saying I merely expected consistency, and this was very different from all my other experiences. To my surprise, and further disappointment, the founder /CEO of Hannah’s emailed me saying he was«frankly astounded by the intensity of my criticism». He went on to direct the the blame at me and not his company saying: «Customers have a responsibility to communicate what their preference is at the time of ordering, which you chose not to do!» Wow. Mind blown. Rather than thanking me for taking the time to give constructive feedback, this guy blames me for not micro-managing every step of the sandwich making process. His words would have been better served with a simple apology for the experience and gratitude for my many years of being a very loyal customer. So I will now be taking my regular business to the many other lunch places on the same block. It’s a shame, as I did enjoy the sandwiches, when they are made correctly. So much so, I still can’t bring myself to give it a one-star, but also can’t rate it any higher than two as a result of this negative experience.

Nice menu selection. Soup sodium levels and calorie counts seem high. Nice trendy interior. Nice selection of chocolates and treats. You’re getting the 2 stars because the guy on the cash register was SUPERRUDE and obnoxious. He should be fired. I may amend this to one star bc I’m annoyed at how rude the cashier was.

This place is nothing special… there are tastier sandwich options out there. One thing to note is that sandwiches are very expensive. About 10 bucks for a very narrow and tiny sandwich. I’ve seen bigger appetizers. Not very tasty, not very filling, hugely expensive in my opinion, even for downtown Chicago.

Absolutely LOVE this place. One of my favorite lunch places in the area. Hands down. Delicious food and speedy, friendly staff. I recommend the sirloin and gruyère sandwich on a baguette. Also really enjoy the Hannah’s club!

My review is based on two of their breakfast items: the Power Breakfast and the Ancient Grain Bowl. Both are equally delicious. I frequently stop at Hannah’s Bretzel for one of these options on my way to work, and have never failed to be satisfied. The Power Breakfast is one of my favorite go-to meals after a morning workout, as this meal has a great mix of protein, carbs, veggies, and healthy fat. The Power Breakfast consists of organic eggs, organic tri-color quinoa, avocado, zucchini, organic carrots, broccoli, and red pepper. Some may be a little put off at the idea of eating vegetables first thing in the morning, but the vegetables work very well with the other ingredients and are definitely worth giving a try. The Hannah’s Bretzel website indicates this is a gluten-free and vegetarian choice. The Ancient Grain Bowl is lighter and a good option if you want to have a mix of fruit and grain for breakfast without feeling too weighed down. The Ancient Grain Bowl consists of organic freekeh(huh?), fresh organic diced apples, golden raisins, toasted pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and organic raspberry preserves.(After checking Google, I discovered freekeh is wheat that’s harvested while young and green, and then roasted over an open fire. Freekeh is high in protein, fiber, B vitamins, and dietary minerals.) Especially nice is the layering of the ingredients the chefs do… freekeh, apples, raisins, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, preserves, repeat! The Ancient Grain Bowl is noted on the restaurant’s website to be vegetarian. Perks about Hannah’s Bretzel in general include the restaurant’s focus on sustainability and organic food. They have a wonderful array of chocolate bars for sale as well, including Fair Trade chocolate. Hannah’s Bretzel is along the route I take to work, but even if it was a few blocks out of my way, it would be worth the trip. Next up… giving their lunch items a try…

The turkey cheddar sandwich on pretzel bread was so good! I didn’t know it came with apples on it but it was a pleasant surprise. Even during the lunch rush they get you through pretty fast. It can sometimes be hard to find a seat though. Get the Blondie for desert. Yum!

I’m a bit torn on this place because I thought the food was excellent, but the price I paid($ 15+ for a sandwich, almonds, soup) was quite expensive. Loses one star for value. I got the Parma and goat cheese sandwich on Bretzel. Bretzel is this place’s version of pretzel bread and it sure it warm and tasty. The texture is soft and had ice flakes of coarse sea salt on top. It meshed so perfectly with the goat cheese spread, asparagus, arugula, and prosciutto. My first bite was heaven. Really good all-around sandwich. The other star of my meal was a small barley soup. Think chicken soup but with additional texture from the barley and small chunks of potato. The portion size for small is actually quite large so I think next time the small sandwich + small soup combo will be better. With your sandwich you get a side of almonds or chips. This I could leave. I didn’t really want either of the two but it came with my meal. Great spot for downtown, just maybe go for the soup + sandwich combo. The soup is really hearty and I came away very satisfied and full.

Small sandwich for the price. Got the wrong order. Good service but taste of food is just okay

Debated between 3 and 4 stars, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and go with 4. I was craving something Swiss(namely: gruyère and a brat) so tried out Hannah’s Bretzel. I got the sirloin sandwich, which had good flavor but was small for what I paid. It gets extremely busy at lunchtime, fair warning. My main confusion is that for a restaurant that advertises bratwurst, I could not find them on the menu. A bit of an unwelcome surprise for someone looking for one.

Small portions, I don’t really like pretzel bread, over priced.

Because I watch what I eat(during the week), this place immediately appealed to me. Their extremely cute and interactive website harps on and on about their commitment to being organic, healthy, etc, which are all things I love. I went during lunch with some coworkers and it was crowded, but not overwhelming. We found two tables easily. In addition to their menu items, they have tons of intriguing desserts and chocolates everywhere. I ordered the Thanksigiving 365(because Brie) on wheat(because healthy), although the pretzel bread looked really good. I initially wasn’t sure about the cranberry chutney, but it complemented the Brie well. This place is more like 3.5 stars for me because it is expensive considering the portions. I assume this is due to using healthier ingredients. I wouldn’t make coming here a habit because of the price, but do plan to return in the future :)

Wanted a fresh meal. This hit the spot with freshness and tons of flavor. Im incredibly piccky with flavor. If you want something that tastes great and is healthy this is your spot! Salad and mini pretzel bun sandwich was filling and delicious. I had pesto chicken on pretzel bun with a salad mix with mozzarella and tomoatoes and an olive oil dressing.

Hannah’s Bretzel is probably going to make me fat, or broke. I’m not sure which would happen first. Apparently everyone I know basically loves this place, and I think I can see why. Sandwiches are very well made, and not too expensive. This being understandable because sandwiches are also not very large. I don’t think this is a giant dig on the place, but it provides some perspective as to «don’t come here and expect to eat a gigantic meal». Disclaimer: I did do the taboo thing, I skipped the pretzel bread for the whole wheat bread. Mostly because eh, why not? I’m sure I’ll be coming back here. Beyond that, the sandwich plans are very good and everything is super fresh. They also seem to have a wall of chocolate that looks like every chocolate that you can buy at whole foods. This is both amusing and a good call by Hannah’s Bretzel. I had the portabello goat cheese and it was excellent. It was around $ 9 total, which isn’t bad for downtown. All in all, the location is nice, quiet, and clean. I can see this being a solid lunch option.

Hannah’s is good for this type of chain sandwich shop. The music is too loud, which is annoying. I had a turkey club sandwich better than most. All sandwiches are on pretzel bread which gives a nice touch of salt. What I don’t like is that I was hungry again too soon after. This is not a hearty lunch. The wife ordered a pesto sandwich of some kind– the name escapes me. She liked it generally, but said that the sun dried tomatoes were too tough to eat. There is a huge rack of chocolate bars that looked delicious. Unfortunately, I did not buy one. Unusually, the chips that came with the sandwiches were actually good. Where does that happen any more these days? I would be back here more if the sandwiches were a little larger and the bad music shut down. If you need background music, get Sirius radio and play a local station, as background, not crazy loud.

I had been wanting to try Hannah’s Bretzel, but was never in the right spot to try it for lunch. However, I’ve been able to stop in now for breakfast coffee once and twice for lunch and I have to say that I’ve been quite impressed. When I visited for coffee, I was a bit confused about the flow because it didn’t seem to make sense that I should have to wait behind people making sandwiches, but there really wasn’t anyone at the counter, so I wasn’t sure what to do. In the end, I waited, though i’ve seen others just going to the counter, so I’m still not 100% sure on the proper flow of traffic here. However, ordering for lunch is much more straightforward. I haven’t yet tried to make my own sandwich, though I think I should try that soon since I’ve tried the really delicious sounding sandwiches I’d like already. I’ve had the salmon one and also the beef. I like how the bread is very soft and easy to eat(and delicious) as some pretzel-type rolls are too hard and not moist enough. These are perfect. The toppings are fresh and prepared just for you which is nice(to the point that they even cut the roast beef for my sandwich!). Service is nice and relatively quick. It is a bit more expensive than other sandwiches, but the quality of ingredients is high. Definitely worth a visit though I’d stick to lunch vs breakfast.

Have been wanting to try this since I spotted it in the Loop awhile back. Finally made it in today after noticing a spot closer to work. A much bigger space than other locations I had seen, which is a plus when wanting to meet others for lunch! I tried the club on the grain baguette and substituted for cheddar and added the Dijon and jalapeños. Wow, I am impressed. Mustard isn’t usually my thing but it looked so good and it was. The sandwich deserves and A+++. I chose the chips for a side which were good too. Can’t believe I waited so long to try! Will be back, although it may only be a special lunch because of the more expensive prices. Enjoy!

Overpriced and not good in my opinion. I think Jimmy John’s is way better. This just was a tossed together piece of cheese and a little bit of sliced turkey thrown together on a pretzel bun with some goopy mayo. YUCK. Who needs a pretzel bun with their sandwich anyway? Way too heavy.

I’d been wanting to try Hannah’s for awhile and am now blessed with a great job that sends me into the city on the reg. Today was the day I finally got to have a late lunch at Hannah’s. Street parking was surprisingly easy just a block away, and I walked in to a really cool looking interior — all white, orange, and wood. Sound weird but it worked! See my pictures. They also had a plethora of charging cords by really cool modern arm chairs which would fit several phones and tablets. They also had many outlets and several different seating options to encourage productive working, a quick lunch, or a catchup with a group. I had the Thanksgiving sandwich on a pretzel baguette to welcome in fall(hello — today is October 1st!). The baguette was thinner than I had hoped for but the amount of Brie used was amazing and so yummy. Get the chips with cracked pepper and the organic apple juice, too. There’s a whole wall of German chocolates to satisfy a sweet tooth, too! My sandwich, chips, and 2 small juices were over $ 15!!! And I don’t think the meal was worth that price, but I’ll probably be back, because then offerings are unique and delicious. I want to try the manchego and Serrano ham sandwich the next time I’m here!

Everything is so fresh! Gf is in love with this place and now I am too. Tried the chicken and avocado on a pretzel baguette and it was top notch. The bread tastes like it just came out of the oven and the ingredients are just as good. The sandwich itself was great and I loved the simple salt and pepper chips on the side as well. Any place that has blood orange soda will keep be coming back. Will be back many times, hopefully for breakfast soon.
