Good salad, good ambiance. awkward music. If you want to fall asleep while enjoying an organic meal, eat here.

Sandwiches are delicious, no matter which one you get. I love that you get almonds as an option instead of chips. The employees are always so nice, and always craft the orders with care. Only wish that there are more seatings in this place.

Good food, but overpriced and terrible service. When I went to the Hannah’s Bretzel on Washington, I could barely hear the people behind the counter. True, there’s a lot of ambient noise at this busy corner, but the surly mumbling sure didn’t help. One of the«über» sandwich makers rolled her eyes at me when I couldn’t hear what she said. Won’t be going back.

I am writing this review as constructive criticism for the staff at this location. I’ve worked in food service and I know that it sucks, so I get that this my not be your dream job, but still… Went in today for a fun Friday lunch out. Came in after the lunch rush at about 1PM. Stepped up to the counter to order a sandwich(the only person in line) and was«helped» by three employees that whisper-mumbled questions at me, and then got upset at me when I couldn’t understand what they were asking. Like I’M the idiot who can’t figure out a sandwich order. I thought the food was good, and the prices not unreasonable considering the ingredients. And I support the idea of local ingredients and natural ones, which bums me out because I can’t go back here now. But when you get upset at me when I can’t understand that when you say«mumblemumblemumblemustardmumblemumble» that I need to pick from a list of toppings, or that«whisperwhisperwhisperchips…» means I need to choose between chips and almonds, and I don’t need an eye roll because I couldn’t even hear you offer one of two options. And I’m sure that being a cashier at a sandwich place isn’t where you want to be mid afternoon, but you are a KEYCOMPONENT of your restaurant, and whispering my total price sullenly into your tee shirt doesn’t help me or you get on with our days. So I don’t know. Maybe they all collectively just found out their dogs died, or maybe the inaudible voices are supposed to add to the Bavarian mystique. But while I can forgive having an off day, I don’t like being disrespected, and that’s how I felt today. So the food was great, but come on guys… you know you could have treated us better. :(

I ordered Hannah’s for a lunch get together in the office last week and I don’t know what the heck happened .! The rest of my team complimented Hannah’s and said it was good, but I’m still not sure if they were just saying that so that I didn’t feel bad for choosing this place. I got the Italian parma and the meat was warm and gross and honestly was not even edible. I just threw my sandwich out and decided to eat the apple instead which was old as well. My whole lunch went in the trash. Total waste.

It has been a long time since I have gone somewhere and eaten a sandwich that I enjoyed, because I am, dun dun dun, gluten free. This place had bread that didn’t ruin the sandwich and actually helped make it! I am giving them 5 stars for their efforts to please the gluten free crowd because sandwiches were a favorite of mine and are now a rarity. Also, as a clean eater, this place had some really good options and I did not feel too full after eating. I even got a gluten free cookie, which I have to say was fantastic!

I am reading about the quality ingredients and that was reflected in the taste. Local farmers, local organic ingredients, yippee! However price + quantity = will not be back. Sure I wasn’t expecting my Dubliner to be like a sandwich from Manny’s, but a few more slices of beef would’ve made this a better sandwich.

Chicago is a city loaded with great sandwich places. There are many indigenous places here but also there are chains like Jimmy John’s and Jersey Mike’s and even Subway. My skinny little six-incher(insert joke here) was over $ 10 with tax. This place is a major RIP-OFF. Now I know why it was empty at noon. Pass.

Sandwich angles on this page like a fat girl on Myspace. Of all of the sandwich shop choices we have in the Loop, this is it? I get it, we all like pretzel buns, but what else is good? The sandwiches are very uh, petite and very expensive. They taste okay. My tomato soup was that weird temperature between cold and lukewarm, and it tasted like how fresh baby wipes smell. I asked for a cup for water, and they gave me a glass tumbler that *they* filled with warm tapwater. They also tossed in a bag of chips(I had no idea what was going on) which I devoured in two bites. After you pay $ 16 for a Honey-I-Shrunk-The-Kids/Fischer-Price-ration of food, you have to sit at a communal table, because why not make this weird, too?

Hannah’s is normally a decent option for some variety on the sandwiches. I went in last week for a sandwich, but when I ordered I noticed there were flies EVERYWHERE on the food. I pointed this out to the worker and she said, «yeah you should see how many traps we set» and proceeded to wait for my order. Maybe it’s just me but I’m not going to eat at a place with a fruit fly infestation. Gross.

Get the prosciutto and goat cheese sandwich and add sundried tomatoes. It will change your life. Best sandwiches. The portions are small so I wouldn’t recommend going if you are starving but the flavors and combinations are delicious.

Hannah’s Bretzel was just«meh» for me… To start, the service itself was terrible. We didn’t get a greeting from the workers(even though we were the only ones in there) and when the guy went to make my sandwich he looked pissed off and frustrated. It was extremely obvious that he did not want to be there. And the food itself was just average. I got Sergio Supreme(ham, mango, jalapeño, and avocado) and my boyfriend got the Grass Fed Sirloin(Sirloin, lettuce, tomatoes, horse radish). Both were just OK… I enjoyed the flavor combinations but felt like the whole sandwich itself was lackluster and the pretzel bread was so overpowering with its saltiness. And it was $ 10 for the sandwich… such a rip off. Save your money and bring it over to a sandwich place like Cafecito(right around the corner) GREAT sandwiches at a reasonable price! Even Potbelly is so much better(and cheaper) than this place. Definitely not a sandwich I would crave ever… and the service made the whole experience just bad. Will not be back.

I love me some Hannah’s! I always get the Sergio’s Special because it is THAT good. I try to convince people i’m with to get something different and share with me ;) I have tried a few others and I have never been disappointed(Turkey & Cheddar, Goat Chz & Parma, Apple, Thyme Brie). The only reason I gave them 4 stars is because it is very pricey. I understand the ingredients are quality & fresh but still, expensive lunch for fast food. The breakfast is also great! I recommend the veggie & egg wrecken. They sauté the veggies in a small pan right in front of you and add the eggs. They have a good assortment of veggies too — brocolli, asparagus, bell pepper, onion. Does not get fresher. They have a lot of fancy cookies, chocolates, and pastries that I haven’t tried. Good for gluten free/vegan diets also. Nomnomaste

Fast. Delicious. A bit on the expensive side, but when your sandwich is on a pretzel bun, it’s worth the extra few bucks. The Parma and goat cheese on wecken is so flavourful. The ham is thinly sliced and the spread, arugula and asparagus all go very well together. Definitely recommend this sandwich

Everything is organic in this place that’s why you kinda pay premium price for it I actually wanna try the asia Bavaria sandwich but it’s no longer available for a year but I have no idea why they still put it in their menu So I ended up to try their sirloin which is great and the pretzel is really good I would be back for a quick lunch for sure

This is a cute and delicious and pricier spot for lunch. Extremely limited seating. They have kale salad, quinoa, soups, and the pretzel buns are available in two sizes. The sandwiches/portions aren’t huge here, especially for the prices, but the quality is good. The choices of sides include seasoned chips or almonds which are both delicious(also very small portions relative to price). They also have a nice selection of sauces, include mango chutney, mayo, pesto, etc. They have a nice selection of cookies, blondies, brownies and gourmet chocolates(individual pieces and bars). The food is high quality and very tasty.

Really yummy, creative sandwiches with fresh ingredients. The pretzel bread is tasty. Awesome chips! Fast service. But, the sandwiches are so small and pricey that Hannah’s Bretzel does not deliver for the money. For me, the portions(for my calorie needs) don’t constitute a meal … for the $ 10 you pay here for a sandwich, I can hardly justify going here if I need a real meal, so it’s already on the«no» list most of the time just based upon that. Also there’s no place to sit, and I really don’t want to have to go back to work to eat, so that’s another reason on the«no» list. I’m still hungry 15 min. after lunch.

I wish there was a way to give less than 1 star. We have never been more disappointed with a sandwich experience in our lives. We went to Hannah’s Bretzel yesterday on my insistence because we had never tried it before. We ordered the veggie bomb and the thyme, brie and apple sandwich. When we sat down to have them, the veggie bomb was great. The sides were a little small as were the sandwiches but the cookie was great, too. We thought the other sandwich tasted a little strange but we stocked it up to new food. Within 2 hours, my fiancée went to take a nap and, as I was finishing up my workday, the nausea started. Food poisoning I wondered? No way but it was the only thing I had eaten all day. 24 hours later, here I am with chills, cramps, muscle ache and a severe bout of being unable to hold anything down — not even water. Beware.

They call themselves«Über Sandwich Makers,» having nothing to do with rides on demand. Hannah’s Bretzel make quality breakfast and lunch sandwiches with top ingredients and creative condiments at five different locations in downtown Chicago. Baked dessert treats are also on offer, as are daily specials and a couple of healthy-leaning salads and soups. I opted for the Serrano Ham and Manchego cheese; the standard toppings include shaved fennel and fig chutney, which I passed on. The sandwich, like most items offered in the shop, is served on a pretzel baguette. A second bread choice is a «wecken»™, which is a bun-shaped pretzel roll. You’ll find that item fairly common in the Northeast, and especially parts of New York State where you’ll hear people order«beef on a weck.» It was grand. And a bit spendy, about $ 10 for relatively small sandwich compared to chain sandwich shops But I’m glad I bumped into the place, and would go again

Excellent sandwiches — a favorite not only of mine, but my coworkers as well. I must admit that the sandwiches aren’t that large, but they come with really good tasting chips on the size. Also, this place is German food and everyone knows Americans expect larger portions than most other countries :) All of the ingredients seem to be really fresh, and the pretzel buns are really tasty — exactly what you would expect of a German place. I recommend the Chicken and avocado. Warmer weather tends to bring longer lines here, so maybe try it in the slower months.

Hannah’s Bretzel is a yuppy, earth conscious, health conscious concept. I say that in the best way because I totally buy into all of these concepts. The sandwiches and soups here are definitely not bad, but the price is high for what amounts to not very much food. The small size pretzel bun sandwich looks the size of a closed fist, ranging in calories from 350 – 600, and is an annoying reminder that you should eat smaller portions than you think you need. And who wants to be reminded of that?

Hannah’s Bretzel always has some interesting sandwiches. In my opinion they’re a bit overpriced and not that large, though surprisingly filling. The sandwiches are certainly of a high quality and consist of some interesting combinations of flavors. I’m particularly a fan of the bavari-asian which has some great asian slaw and flavors while being a roast beef sandwich. I’d definitely recommend it. A couple others look intriguing as well. The pretzel bread is actually quite good, maybe a bit salty, but it is pretzel bread after all. Sandwiches are a bit on the expensive end I think, especially when Potbelly, Panera, Goodwins, etc are within a block or two. And the sides are thoroughly ignorable in my opinion.

I work next door so one day I decided to pass on my homemade salad and try a sandwhich here after hearing so much about it. Bread is usually a no-no for me during the week but decided I had to try it here once. I can’t remember what I ordered, but it had beef on it. The flavor of the sandwhich was great. The portion, not so much. I guess all the ingredients are organic and super good for you. If you care about that kind of stuff, I guess this is the place for you. If you’re like me and would rather have a spinach salad with about a pound of meat on top for lunch, you’ll leave hungry. I’m glad I tried it, just won’t be back. Also, the chips were some of the best I’ve ever had. Just wish they gave you more. I ordered the chips, do you really think I’m worried about portion control?

Hannah’s Bretzel is a kick ass little sandwich place located only in Chicago. With multiple locations scattered throughout the city, I guess you can call this place a chain restaurant. If that’s the case… then shame on you Panera Bread, Au Bön Pain and all you other fakers! Hannah’s serves high quality organic ingredients, always fresh and made to order. There’s no prepackaging here. The cost is merely a few dollars more but I will happily pay the price to ensure my lunch didn’t once live life as a 3 headed chicken roaming around Purdue farms. Enjoy Chicagoans, enjoy!

I wanted to venture out of my comfort zone of quick bites to eat during work and I came across Hannah’s Bretzel. I’m all for locally sourced and organic and I am a sucker for bread, and the reviews mentioned the pretzel baguette… sold. The place is quite small and there is a line out the door, despite the illusion of a long wait, they are very quick with the assembly line of staff. There aren’t too many options on the menu, which I thought was strange, since a sandwich has endless combinations, so I thought to myself, that these flavor profiles are going to be out of this world good. I decided to go for the Thanksgiving 365. It has turkey, lettuce, cranberry sauce, and brie. I asked for it on a pretzel bun, since I was so excited to try that, but the guy said it only comes on whole wheat. Fine, no big deal. The sandwich came with your choice of chips, almonds, or soy nuts. I opted for the chips. Added a Sweet Leaf Iced Tea and my total was $ 12 bucks. That’s a little pricey for what you get. There is no seating so don’t come here expecting to sit down. The sandwich itself is alright. I felt there was too much lettuce which overpowered any of the other flavors, I took some off, which made it better. Overall, the sandwich wasn’t wow. If you’re going to call yourself über sandwich makers, I would expect more. I do feel like it was filling enough, so don’t let your eyes trick you. The chips were so good and the highlight of the meal. I’m not sure if they are made in house but they have a good crunch and are seasoned well. I want to give this place a second chance, maybe try the apple brie and hopefully get it on the bread that I want next time. I’ll update my review, but it’s not high up on the list to go back.
