Stephen Hashioka is a peculiar character as far as dentists go. He has no receptionists. Though his office is less than a block from Millennium Park, there is no lavishness to it. In my experience, however, these things have proven insignificant. I have never had trouble setting an appointment. Each time I called, he answered the phone, asked what the problem was, and set the appointment himself in short order. As he works, he’s always told me clearly what he’s doing, why, and what my options were.(And chatted about a diverse number of topics provided I was up for conversation while in the dentist’s chair.) There’s always a movie of his choosing playing on the linked TVs in the waiting and treatment rooms, giving you something to watch that’s not daytime television if you feel so inclined. Finally, his work has always been first rate and, likely as consequence of the few frills he allows himself, priced very fairly, even without dental insurance.
