Been using Helens for about a year for suits, shirts, dresses and sweaters. Friendly, fast, and convenient(for me). They do accept credit cards. Unclear what prices are unless you ask, though dry cleaning has always been one of those things that I rarely bother to ask the price because I need it done anyway. They’re also dog-friendly and let me bring mine in when dropping off, and they gave her a treat. I plan to use them this week for an alteration.

I’ve been using Helen’s for 2 years. Affordable cleaning and alterations. No complaints, friendly service, and willing to work with you to get your clothes back to you by specified days/times.

Not a fan, and I am currently looking for a new place to go. This place is only a couple blocks away so naturally I started going here because it was a short walk. But, I’ve had enough bad experiences I won’t be going back. Everything always seems to be more expensive than I remember other cleaners being. Then on one occasion I brought in a bunch of dress shirts to get laundered and they dry cleaned like 8 of them without asking. Then the guy told me I need to make sure to tell them not to do that… definitely shouldn’t have to. Some shirts have special buttons where it needs to be dry cleaned, which is fine, but they just did regular shirts that way too and still charged me for it all. Then, on another occasion they ruined one of my shirts by spilling some chemical all over it. When my wife asked about reimbursement, they just knocked $ 30 off the bill and said that’s the value they saw online, when I actually paid more than double that for the shirt. Other times I’ve gone in I’ve seen other people arguing with the guy about issues they’re having… all in all, not worth going here and seems like there are other good places close by to try.

I have been going to Helen’s for a couple of years now and for the most part they do a somewhat decent job. Recently they lost a shirt of mine and they would not compensate me for the lost item. He said«Since the shirt had a stain on it, the shirt isn’t worth anything.» That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! He became extremely standoffish and would not offer me anything other than the $ 2 it cost me to have the shirt dry cleaned. The shirt was 4 months old and cost $ 80 what is $ 2 going to do me?! It seems from other Unilocal posts that this isn’t the first time they have lost items of clothing for people. To sum it all up, if you do go and get your dry cleaning done there, just keep in mind that if they lose something of yours they will not be willing to do much about it. Jerks!

Reasonable price, but sometimes the clothes are ready on time, so I had to come back some other day. Good service for moderate price range.

I live one block south of Helens Cleaners, so it is the obvious home for a dry cleaners. About 6 months ago, they lost one of my dress shirts. They looked and couldn’t find it. Not the end of the world, it happens. Last month, I brought in a brand new pair of pants. I had literally purchased them, worn them once, and brought them in for a cleaning. They lost them. I spoke to the owner and she couldn’t come up with an answer. They did not offer any compensation(discount, money back, etc). I would not go to a location that not only lost multiple items, but also does not take responsibility for their mistakes. Find another place.

I started going here because it’s the closest dry cleaners to me. I continue to go here because they do a great job. Don’t let the slightly run-down appearance fool you, Helen’s is a good dry cleaner with great customer service. They can get stains out when you need them to, and they do a good job cleaning my dress shirt collars. They do take credit(Visa only I believe), which must be a new addition based on previous reviews.

Just picked up my two suits at Helen’s for $ 19.90. I thought the price was a little on the high side, but it looks like they did a good job on it. The one thing that I did not like and would not have take my clothes there had it been posted is that they do not take credit cards. Since I never carry any cash on me, I had to leave my suits there on the first attempt at a pickup and wait to go to an ATM to come back. I am going to try some other places around here before I go back again.

Helen is the best cleaner I’ve dealt with yet in Bucktown.(Much better than *cough* *cough* Wilton Cleaners, which is so inept it burns, burns!) Helen herself is conscientious and honest about her work – and about how long things will take. Give the lady some love.

I took a clothing item here to get fixed — one of the seems had ripped out of it, and they did a great job for a very reasonable price(and pretty quick, too). The gal who runs the shop(who is not Helen) was very helpful and polite.
