This is definitely one of the coziest and tastiest coffee shops in Chicago! It is vintage modern feeling inside and outside. Great taste of coffee. I had a large latte with 4 shots which was beautifully formed. Free wifi is available. Great place to work and study!

Cute spot in the lobby of an apartment building. Free wifi and good pastries. It has pretty decent seating and is close to public transportation. My 16oz pour over was $ 5, plus tax and tip came out to $ 6.26 — I think it’s same pricing as intelligentsia(Heritage serves their beans). When did a pour over get so expensive? Nevertheless, cute spot!

I’m not really hip enough to go here, but their coffee is amazing, and it’s the closest coffee shop to my apt. I’ve been pleased with everything I’ve ordered here, including the cortado, the signature lattes, and the pour overs. The buttermilk biscuit is also delicious — and filling! The imitation marble tables and the beautiful chandelier, together with the latte art, help to create a very Instagram-worthy experience. The music is not too loud, so it’s a good spot to work. And it’s a good place to people watch, because the space doubles as the lobby for an apartment building. You’ll see the residents and their dogs coming and going. I also like that they’re open late many nights, so I can come in for a «disco coffee» before going out(I pregame with caffeine).

Cozy, quiet neighborhood spot tucked into the lobby of the preeminent hipster apartment building in Chicago. I call it «Billyburg on Wilson» but for all the right reasons: excellent coffee and craft brews, restrained sweets selection, and too cool for school music selection. Excellent staff is what really makes this place special…

I wanted so much to like this place… The atmosphere is wonderful, the barista that took my order and made my coffee was great. But my drink tasted awful — to me. I couldn’t finish it. I ordered an americano with steamed almond milk. This was the drink recommended by the barista after I explained that I prefer coffee that is full bodied, low acidity and dark roast(dark brown, oily beans). She explained that most of their coffees are light to medium roast. The almond milk was Almond Breeze brand — not the best, so that didn’t help. I hate to say it, but I have yet to find a place that makes better espresso beverages than Starbucks. Additionally, there were no vegan bites to eat :(

While this new coffee shop(bike shop? Outpost?) is located close to Starbucks and A bakery/café, it definitely stands out! They have a walk up window perfect for folks walking their dog, bikers who don’t want to tie up their bike to grab a quick cup or just people on the go. The interior is cozy and staff are friendly. I had coffee black as well as a latte. Both smooth and delish. I’ll be back often!

So I rarely write on the spot reviews. I prefer to give myself some time to calm whatever emotion I’m feeling but… this simply needed to be done. While the crowd is next door at another coffee shop those who are clearly in the know are here. Two words: Lavender Latte. Seriously the best latte I’ve had since I visited Seattle this summer. Also a very cute spot. Uniquely located in the lobby of an apartment building I can’t lie and say I wouldn’t consider moving here just so I could snag a latte every morning on my way out. I normally don’t give 5 stars without a larger sampling of products but whatever. Latte for the win.

A little pricey, but competitive. Worth it as the staff is really friendly and the coffee is great. walk up window is super convenient and space in modern and modest.

Lavender vanilla latte we meet again. Any place that has a great lavender vanilla latte is an instant win. Add in a cozy ambiance and great music and I’ve found one of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago. The tandem bike hanging from the ceiling is an adorable touch. Especially love that it is the lobby of an apartment building and that it makes me want to move to this apartment to be here every day. They also have biscuits and pies from bang bang pie shop. YES.

Great coffee, blows major chains out of the water good. And if you are a fan of espresso, like I am. Those drinks are tasty, and gets the day moving along. The service has always been friendly. And they take their time with your drink and actually craft it for you. And one huge advantage to this place is that it has a walk up window. So you always have an excuse to walk there with the dog. Best coffee place in the neighborhood.

The review is coming from INSIDETHECAFE. I like this place so much I’m almost afraid to put my feelings out there. Being a big fan of the Lincoln Ave location, I was curious to try Heritage Outpost but never got around to taking the field trip uptown. But now here I am, daydreaming, looking up rent prices for the apartments upstairs. Which brings me to Item #1: This coffee shop is casually situated in the lobby of an apartment building like it’s no big deal. This is not a drawback. This is amazing. Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m the only one who appreciates this on a whimsical, romantic level. But this is my favorite kind of ambiance: an environment that’s at once lively without being obtrusive and calm without being stagnant. People are minding their own business, but people are also getting their mail and bringing groceries upstairs. Despite the bicycle built for two hanging on the wall, the décor here is slightly less twee than its Lincoln Ave counterpart. The layout is spacious but cozy, with varied tables and a big couch I could fit at least 4 dudes on. Similar to Lincoln Ave, there are huge windows, substantial natural light, and outdoor seating that’s both ample and inviting. The baristas have been great. I ordered a lavender latte today probably because I was listening to Natalie Merchant on my walk here, and it was on point. The last time I was here I got a turmeric tea. You heard me. I can’t stop thinking about it and I don’t see why I should.

It’s possible I’m biased since I live in the Flats Building which is part of the coffee shop, but I think it’s safe to say that it’s just plain good. Obsessed with the weekend donuts they have. They’re outstanding. I have a «usual» which is an almond milk vanilla iced latte — hands down best coffee in Chicago. If you’re in the neighborhood or live around the area I highly recommend stopping in — you’ll love it.

Great coffee. Fantastic atmosphere. Great interior design. It is actually in the interior of the foyer to lofts. But the main thing was the coffee which was perfect. Rich, not at all bitter.

I came here with a friend and have been back once since. I had iced lattes both times. The coffee was great and just the away I like it– strong. I also like their more inventive options– like lavender latte. They are opening another location near my condo and I am so excited to go all the time. This would be a good place to work or study too– good vibe and free wifi.

By far some of the best coffee I have enjoyed. Great quality beans and ingredients. The vibe is super relaxed with tables and comfy couch seating as well. It is a work friendly place for those needing to get things done. Had a cortado to start and it was excellent. Great body and depth with no over roasting qualities like the coffee chains. Then I had a honey cheesecake slice with this amazing blueberry and lavender jam! To die for And had to take a to go drink — picked the lavender Latte — Iced. The lavender is steeped over night and omg wow! Seriously there isn’t a great way to explain what I had, you just have to go there and try it. Lavender aroma and taste is so good and strong. Perfect any time drink and this comes hot but I tried it iced! Will be coming back soon as possible and I am bringing more friends!

The best word to describe Heritage Outpost is «curated.» Museum-chic. Beautiful lighting thrown around the room from the large window in front, reflected off the white marble tabletops. Coffee is fantastic. A quiet refuge to study, think, not a place for a conversation. The elevator and mail slots for residents makes this place feel lived-in. In a welcoming way. My favorite coffee shop in Chicago.

Heritage Outpost is a coffeehouse located at the base of Flats No. 1325 in Uptown. I’ve passed it many a time on my way to Baker and Nosh next door, but I’m glad I decided to skip B&N and give HO a shot. There is a «walk-by“window where one can order a drink outside. The baristas are friendly, if that’s something that’s important to you. I ordered a cappuccino, and it came with coffee art. The foam wasn’t as thick as I would have liked, but the coffee art was a nice touch. People come here to study and work. The décor is very«heritage.» An American Flag is draped across one wall and a bike on another. American relics like replicas of the first lightbulb/light fixture a la Davy, Swan, and Edison, a phonograph, and books by Oscar Wilde add character to the seating area and serve as a reminder of the greatness of our country and our innovative culture. There is also bright light and ample seating, including a comfy couch and a wooden bench. Intellectual Conversations are welcome. They have a wide assortment of teas and pour-over/chemex brewed coffee is available upon request.

You won’t find bikes for sale at Heritage Outpost like you will at the flagship shop, but you can still enjoy a cup of coffee inside the cozy, converted lobby. The outpost is light and bright with a nod to Americana: wooden benches, marbled table-tops and a sofa nook set in front of a hanging flag. It’s the sort of place where you could feel comfortable staying a while, though when I visited, there wasn’t an open seat in sight. Regardless of whether you stay or takeaway, you can order a simple, but satisfying cup of coffee. And if you have a case of the Mondays(even if it’s not Monday), you can cheer yourself up with a doughnut, preferably red velvet.

I spotted this place when I intended to introduce Baker & Nosh(almost next-door neighbor) to my friend who joined my thrift-shopping trip last time. It appeared to be located inside an apartment lobby. It was great that there’s free wifi available through the Chicago Flats(the apartment complex). The actual dining room was fairly tiny, but it was comfortable and brightly-lit. I had the Cortado. It was simple but very delicious. Remember me raving about the Red Eye from Baker & Nosh? Yes, I’m going to the same with Heritage Outpost’s Cortado. It’s a quieter place at a Heritage Outpost(HO), in comparison to Baker & Nosh. I felt home at this place because it reminded me the Art Library at UW-Madison, where I spent my precious four(4) years at. I’m no longer a student, but I enjoy reading and writing on my days off from work. I’m glad that I stopped by HO today and discovered this little gem in the Uptown Neighborhood.

What a neat addition to the neighborhood! Today is the Big Blizzard of February 1, 2015 and are so happy Baker n Nosh was shut or we wouldn’t have wandered in here! Great space, great coffee, great pastries, great find. Definitely coming back!
