Love this place. Very fast delivery and to lots of locations around the north side. Tasty and not too expensive too. Def. Recommend!

Ordered delivery this past weekend. I’m still getting used to the restaurants in the area and this has been on my checklist, so I decided to give it a try when we were in the mood for some Indian food. The food itself was good — we got standard chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo with some appetizers. But what people have said before is true– the entrée sizes were pretty small. It was about what you would expect for an appetizer portion of each one, but not at a reflective price. Maybe you get more if you dine in but other restaurants really give you way more for the same price. That was pretty off-putting. Other than that, delivery was on time and the order was correct. So mostly the serving size/price would give me pause before ordering again. I’ll probably try some other spots since we aren’t that far from Little India

This is a 3.75 for me. I’ve ordered from here approx. 10 times in the last 1 – 2 years. Prior to 2016 the orders included meat, vegetarian since. Orders under the latter have merited the positive review. Easy parking and ability to parlay a pick-up w/a Whole Foods run are externalities that compliment the operation(the anti-Devon appeal). Must order — VEGGIEMOMO — get the full order from the Nepalese section. No point in limiting oneself to the smaller appetizer portion, minimal price increase notwithstanding. The dipping sauce that comes w/is phenomenal. Not very spicy at all, just a light red romesco-esque feel. — Must order 2.0 — BHATURA — it was like a savory funnel cake. It’s flour-based, less healthy, but I’m sick of roti & paratha. Took a flyer, paid off big time! Gosht Madras was probably my favorite meat dish. Madras in general combines the richness of a general korma sauce w/the heat I expect in Northern Indian food. This restaurant did not fail me. Tandoori Chicken(all dark meat, more flavor people!) was always solid. They provide a nice yogurt sauce that my Devon standbys did not. Kukhra Ko Masu was a solid chicken dish off the Nepalese section as well. Amongst vegetarian/vegan(no more paneer either), my favorite here is the Saag Mushroom. I haven’t really seen this at other Indian restaurants, reasoning escapes me. My universal favorite Indian vegetable dish is Bhindi Masala, but I have it everywhere else, and this place’s is nothing special, so I maybe have ordered it twice here. Jhaney Ko Dal is pretty good, why get same olé Dal Makhani when there’s a Nepalese option? — If you like spice, I recommend requesting«spicy» when ordering. Their default is a little safer than my preference. The guy who runs it has always come off as hard working and genuine. No qualms in giving him my business.

This is my regular Indian restaurant to order from which says a lot since I live off Devon. The vegetarian options are my favorite. The chicken dishes have great flavor and sauce but we usually find the chicken overcooked. We also love the naan.

Ordered delivery from here about a month ago and only got around to leaving a review now. Food was actually pretty good. I’m extra white and can’t handle any sort of spicy. The chicken tikka masala was actually mild and tasted great. The food is the only reason I didn’t give one star. When I give my phone number to a restaurant, it’s so that there is better communication. It’s so that I can be updated on the time of delivery, when the driver gets here, if there’s a mistake with my order, questions, etc. It’s NOT for your driver to text me after the delivery has been made to tell me that I’m beautiful. I don’t feel comfortable ordering from here again and it’s a shame because the food was good.

Tried their samosas again, the quality has definitely declined. Now they taste like samosa you would get at any restaurant as an appetizer. I tried their momo’s with the sauce and they were delicious. The four stars are for the momos.

It is a small restaurant space– nothing fancy, but I imagine they do a lot take out and delivery. The food was very good. I had my standard malai kofta– it was great with a slightly more creamy sauce then standard– very good spice. BYOB is a always a plus. Good service. Will come back and order delivery for sure– they said the delivery radius is 5 miles.

Went for the delivery via GrubHub. Here are my complaints: the food came late and the vegetable dumplings could have a little more filling and a little more spice. Also a larger cup of sauce should be used. Now the good: The sauce for the dumplings was delicious. I wanted more. The Chicken Saag was incredibly flavorful. It was ordered medium spicy. Next time I’ll go hot. The palak paneer was good but not amazing but good and decent. The driver arrived late but dressed in a sport coat and told me I looked like Tom Cruise… I told him not to bullshit but thanks for the effort. His tip was already paid through grub hub.

Very nice and not too expensive, especially for take out. The samosas were huge(could have easily shared just one, but they come in orders of two). The chicken momo appetizer was nice, but not particularly distinctive. The chicken tikka masala was delicious and a good portion size, in my view. I can see how some people might think it is too small, but we were very satisfied when pairing it with two appetizers — it was maybe even a bit too much. We also ordered naan on the side — two pieces, but we certainly could have gotten just one. All of the food was tasty and it was reasonably priced! We will order again.

You cannot beat the price and flavor at this neighborhood joint. We ordered veggie samosas and cauliflower pakora to start. It came out piping hot and was delicious. I ordered my usual, chicken tikka masala and he ordered lamb rogan gosht(sp?), both medium. So medium was a bit spicy, making me wonder what hot would be like. Both dishes came with a small plate of rice at no cost… huge bonus in Indian cuisine. And both were fabulous. 3 orders of Naan for 2 adults and a kid was way too much…1.5 are going home! And BYOB! I’ve never walked away from Indian this cheap and thought, Damn, can’t wait to go back! Def. worth it!

This place is awesome!!! My wife and I live in Jeff park and went here for the first time a few nights ago. We got the butter chicken, chicken tiki masala, and garlic naan. All were excellent. The ambiance was nice too and employees were very friendly and provided good service. Additionally, it’s BYOB, and the restaurant provides nice wine glasses. The portions were a little small, which is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Nevertheless, this is our go to place for Indian food going forward and I’m already craving it again.

Disappointed this place doesn’t turn out delicious food. We really wanted a close place to grab Indian, but we will never come back here. Food = greasy & not good flavor. I got a vegetarian dish, my husband had chicken & both were gross Ambiance = none. Which is fine if you’re getting takeout but I seriously question the cleanliness after watching & waiting for our food. Being close enough to Devon, there’s no reason to compromise. Don’t waste your money.

So far I’ve been here twice with friends. They only offer a few Himalayan dishes; most of the items on the menu are of Indian origin. We had tandoori chicken(moist and tasty), lamb biryani(tender and flavorful) chicken korma in a delicious creamy sauce and chicken Momo appetizers(like Chinese dumplings but better). The baigan bartha was the best I’ve ever eaten; I loved the taste of the smoked eggplant. We asked for our food to be mildly spiced; my friends thought some of them were a little on the bland side so I suggest asking for your dishes to be spiced medium or hot to get more flavor. The service was somewhat disorganized both times I was there. Even though they weren’t crowded It was hard to get the attention of the waiter. My friends didn’t like it as much as I did. They felt the food in the Indian restaurants on Devon Avenue in Chicago is better. It may be that Himalayan food is not as heavily spiced as Indian food. I will definitely come back. I thought the prices were reasonable. Street parking is plentiful, they deliver and they are open until 10:00 p, m. which is pretty late in this neck of the woods. I will just come with different friends next time.

Chicken biryani medium spicy and Palak Mushroom with Bharatuta and Nana with Matar paneer for winter time is the best.

Unlike some other reviewers, I thought portion size was reasonable for the price — e.g. $ 10 for a standard sized butter chicken — and the taste was as good as higher priced venues in the loop. The only complaint might be that the staff hangs out in the kitchen leaving the front unattended for long stretches.

So disappointed. I’ve never seen such small portions. We got delivery, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Masala, Momo app, Paratha. $ 44 for barely enough food for 2 people, and no leftovers. The containers were 1 cup of rice and 1.5 cups of the main dish. Typical«chinese take out» containers are 2 cups each, which is why most people have leftovers from their 4-cup entrée. So $ 10.99 for an entrée that is nearly half the size of the average restaurant, is more than disappointing, I feel like I got swindled.

Ordered from grubhub took about an hour. the reviews looked great so we gave it a shot. Keema Samosa, Chicken Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Keema Curry, Tandoori Chicken. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was amazingly fresh! High quality ingredients. Delicious. I can’t think of one negative thing to say. Tasted like its a higher end restaurant, I’m looking forward to eating at the restaurant next time.

Food was great! We had chicken and lamb. The atmosphere and service is a bit strange. Portions are on the smaller side for the price.

I clearly mentioned to send plates and spoons, and when the order came, there was none of these. I called the restaurant to inform them, instead of acknowledging it, they said I should explicitly mention the plates and spoons. When I told them I did, all i was asked was… Do you want to return the food? No apologies or a sight of better service. In addition, the food was not worth the money

Solid 2.5 for serving tasty food in a grimy place. Momo? More like No NO! A message I wouldn’t yet transcribe, well until about: (Note: The following review was written solely from atop of a toilet, in the early morning hours of night. This is what transpired some hours after eating dinner at Himshikar resturant) 1:55 a. m When the notion to drop potions from my rectum was received. The yearning woke me up out of sleep! 2:14 a.m. And it still hurt… Doesn’t matter how many games of Bubble Witch 2 I play. The worst part was, 1) I ran out of turns aaaAarGh! And 2) that my lady happened to stop by(Himshikar) whilst I was there randomly grabbing takeout. In the moment I figured. Ok, why not break her into Indian food this way.(Never«break» anyone into a cuisine with unknown parameters) I feared that decision, hoping her stomach had faired better.(And it did, she only sampled an appetizer and some bread, THANKGOODNESS) 2:17 a.m. Eyes were heavy and my small butt hurt from sitting there so long. Contemplated whether a padded seat would be nice to have for my throne. Thinking a soft blue, nude or taupe could do? But soft seats IMO are kind of tacky. Which reminds me of that Reddit posting from a dude talking about, never knowing that Men could use the toilet seat.(WHAT?!?) I know right? You’re like What-TF is Jacob talking about? Yeah, this dude had an online posting about this. He used to sit on the toilet rim and has been doing that his his whole life! And he’s American! The shit(hehe) is mind boggling. Who raised this guy & how’d they forget that important detail? I know what some of you«dirties» are thinking… Weren’t there big splashes! You can Google for the thread. Others wondered the same. LoL. 2:23 a.m. The pain had subsided, time to mosey on back to bed, but should I take some Immodium? Or wing it? Well, since I was writing this review from the can you’ll find out in real time, what exactly happened. So hold on Bat fans… 2:40 a.m. Sleep had left me. Pooper scooper. Time to pretend I’m sleeping or read? Never again would I venture for Nepalese, unless I’m visiting Nepal! 2:47 a. m… Why does it still hurt??? The restaurant could be cleaner and from my point of view, many of the visible areas of the restaurant were unclean.(Including and not limited to, their attire) I wondered how clean the kitchen and their cooking practices could be. The appetizers were soiled in oil. And although the entrees; some kind of butter chicken and a lamb dish were tasty, later on that same night I was sick as a dog. All I hoped for was a decent Indian meal at a place off Devon ave. I’m too afraid to try again. Diarrhea with the sweats are the worst!
