God awful. They made me a cup of INSTANT coffee. yes the powdered stuff. The place reeked of cigarette smoke and didn’t appear very clean. Never again. I

WOW! Thanks for helping me find this place Unilocal! I was picking up a friend at O’Hare airport, and looking for late-night espresso(10:30/11pm)… I’m SOOO happy I found this place. I walked in and found two lemon trees, INCHICAGO, INMARCH! They put them inside for the winter. Very nice lady put down her cigarette a moment to make me a great espresso. In back a group of 8 – 10 men argued loudly over a card game. Two little old men were prone, laying flat in lazy boy chairs and covered in blankets as they snoozed with newspapers on their laps. The front is a café, the back space seems like an Italian club house, felt like I was in Sicily or Italy. Great décor, very warm and welcoming. So wild that I found this place. They also have a giant cooler of fun & rare Italian sodas, including bitter ones.

Sorry guys… I know Unilocalers don’t lie, just like Shakira’s hips, but I have to disagree with the fellow Unilocalers about this place. As soon as I went in, I smelled cigarette smoke. I grew up in a smoker household and never really liked it much, so it turned me off immediately. Well, my hubby concurred. Why didn’t we just leave? Well, outdoor seating was available and it was a gorgeous day. I decided to patronize them and ordered the iced cappuccino, hot espresso, and a bottle of San Pellegrinno. At least the guy who made the drinks put out down the cigarette while he was making the drinks. Thank you for that. The coffee, actually, tasted great. Hubby said the espresso was authentic(he’s a true Italian entrapped with an American citizenship). To be honest, the entire experience was decent except the cigarette smoke. I know my sensory system deviates my star rendering, but I just couldn’t take it. By the way, they don’t take credit cards; it’s cash only. There’s a Walgreens diagonally across the road if you need an ATM(courtesy of the Chase Bank). The total bill came under $ 7, so it’s much cheaper than Starbucks. If you don’t mind about people smoking, it would actually be a place for you.

One of the better cappuccinos in the neighborhood, and the people are okay too

The outside of this place didn’t look too inviting with the closed blinds on the windows and with the group of older guys sitting together outside. But my observations couldn’t have been further from the truth. The inside looked small and ordinary, with the plain undecorated walls and with a few high-up chairs and tables. There were around 5 European sounding patrons inside watching the world cup game. The service was very good. The lady, with the black hair, was so nice and was pleasantly chatty with all the customers. I got a nice sized cappuccino($ 2.50) with all the fixings and it was delicious. In the back, there was a big backroom area for parties, which had some people watching the Spain/Portugal world cup game. I really felt comfortable being there, as I felt at ease engaging conversations with other customers about the soccer teams and what not. Had a family business feel to it. I think there used to be a paint store or a karate gym here before this place.
