Every once in a while I remember to come in here on my lunch hour and browse around. It is always fun to see the lovely arts and crafts made by talented local artisans. They have handmade jewelry, clothes, ceramics, framed pictures and assorted knick knacks. The customer service is friendly and helpful.

This place deserves maybe five stars but I don’t know it well enough yet… They change their stock every 4 months so the work is always fresh. Represented artists are ONLY from IL. Prices are very good. Fairly diverse range of goods. Variety of trunk shows and specialty presentations all year round. I will bring out of towners looking for something special on their tour of Chicago architecture.(I Love that it’s in this bldg)

Great place to look for unique gifts, all made by people from Illinois. Always something different whenever I stop by.

A cute shop on the 2nd floor of the Thompson Center; I like the wood carvings and other handmade goodies. The local artisans also do periodic sales on the ground floor, kind of a fair set-up. It’s fun to stop by and see what’s new!

Out of all of the stores in the Thompson Center, I love this one. The tiny shop has a wide array of handcrafted goods from local and statewide artisans. The merchandise changes around based on crafter and season, so I come here ever so often to see if there’s anything that’ll peak my interest. Today, I saw some amazing hand cut crystal, some neat fused glass decorations, and some pretty felted accessories. I always find something interesting here. It’s one of those shops that’s perfect for a special gift. For me, Illinois Artisans shop is the gem, standout store of a generally mediocre building.

This little shop pairs nicely with the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery next door. The first floor contains popular shops and the lower level has the food outlets, so this secluded shop on the second level does not get a lot of looks. The circulation system with the up and down escalators does force you to go past here if you are up here for any reason.
