Infinite Chicago

I’ve lived in this building for the past 8 months and it has been a nightmare. This month alone there has been no internet access in my unit 11 out of 25 days. The building’s wifi is non-​functioning and they seem to have no idea how personal routers work because they blame all of the internet problems on them when in reality the personal routers are they only way to actually use the internet in this building. Management has entered my unit several times with no notice or authorization, which is a clear violation of my lease, yet when I contacted upper management I was completely ignored. I live with 2 other girls and we have woken up several times to find that someone was in our unit while we slept without any notice (we keep our door locked but they enter anyways). Everything in the unit seems to be very cheaply made and the HVAC is barely functioning; I have a roommate whose room is a good 10 or so degrees colder than the rest of the apartment and when we asked maintenance we were told there was no way to fix it. The windows do not block the cold at all so even with the heat blasting it is freezing cold in the apartment during the winter. These are only a few of countless problems I’ve had since moving in. Every time I have spoken with management regarding the myriad of issues we’ve faced living here I’ve been given the run-​around or one staff member’s answers will completely contradict another’s. No one seems to have a straight story or know what’s going on here. There is a complete lack of respect for residents here. The location is convenient if you go to school downtown and the doormen are great but other than that this is the worst living arrangement I have ever had the misfortune of being stuck in. This building appealed to me because it seemed like student housing without the restrictions of a dorm… I would go back to living in a dorm in a heartbeat as opposed to this. Please love yourself enough to not sign a lease here.
