Okay, the service and price isn’t the best but the desserts look are awesome. I’m happy this is in the neighborhood and I hope the best for this place. I will come back and try again… soon.

This place is OK. I just wasn’t a fan of the menu for lunch on weekdays. The cakes are OK, but the aftertaste and texture was not pleasant for me. I tried the blood orange and ginger mousse cake and it wasn’t that good. First off, the blood orange topping wasn’t fresh and was shriveled up, which made it unappealing(I ordered to try the interesting combination). The taste was good, don’t get me wrong. I just didn’t like the film of oil in my mouth after every bite. It felt really heavy. I also tried the cheesecake and it was the same thing. It’s just not impressive. Though the looks of some dessert does look good. On a separate occasion, I came for a salad and the dressing was disgusting. I think the choice of dressing was balsamic vinaigrette. When I opened my mouth for the bite of salad, I felt like I was in a dissection lab and the smell was formaldehyde. I was disgusted. I stopped eating after three bites. The salad mix wasn’t that fresh since I found some rotting leaves in there, though in small quantities. Thankfully I didn’t get sick from it. It just felt like a waste of money for the salad here. The others from the party had a delicious egg waffle and the other person ordered the waffle with ice cream. It looks doable. I might have to come try it some other time… but not sure how willing I am.

I live nearby and have a sweet tooth like a child on Halloween so I thought I’d stop by. I wasn’t sure what to expect there were some mixed reviews but I felt obliged given the location and specialty. With that said I was blown away. We ordered the honey toast, egg waffles and a panini. We enjoyed everything. The honey toast was crispy on the outside and a perfect flavor texture combo for the creamy ice cream. Covered in caramel and peanuts the only thing I would do to improve is drizzle the caramel down to the bottom slice of toast so that I didn’t have cut and smear it off the plate. I bit into everything and was happy, no complaints and am planning another trip soon. I recommend it. Good for families.

I came here once and I didn’t really like it. My waffle tasted like something that was put out too long. The ice cream was good though.

Great place for dessert for they offer a nice variety of scrumptious mousse cakes! Their honey toast was exceptionally delicious with a nice blend of crunchiness of the toast and the smoothness of the ice cream. Was a little upset that they ran out of crepes at around 7pm. But the staff was nice enough to let me substitute that for two mousse cakes and I’m glad it happened. :) they don’t have waiters but will bring the food out to you and are very courteous. Will definitely come back

I love the atmosphere of this cute dessert café. I tried a few different desserts including the bananas foster which was pretty good although very gelatinous. I also had the chocolate mousee cake. Beautiful presentation overall.

Had the 3 crepes and egg waffles plus. Overall good. The chicken crêpe was good — too bad you can’t order it alone. Green tea in ice cream and panna cotta could be stronger.

My sister told me about this place that just opened in Bridgeport and I’m thinking that I definitely must try it. I went in the shop and ordered: Plain egg waffle: So growing up in New York I am used to getting these egg waffles from street vendors in a cart where it is made to order. Now, although these were made to order they came out dry. I believe they tried to make it so that the outer part was kind of crispy or crunchy or something, but it ended up being very dry. I’ve concluded that those waffles were in egg waffle machine too long because they really were. Rum Chocolate flan(in a small glass jar): Besides it being in a unique jar, the flavor was nothing spectacular. Green tea sesame mousse: Now this is an acquire taste dessert. Had I not known there were sesame in it, I would have spit it out. Nonetheless, I ended it liking it although my friend did not. I liked the lightness of it and the combination of the green tea and sesame. Chocolate mousse?(something like that) This was my favorite one. First off, I love all things chocolate. This was rich enough yet the mousse made it light enough. I got the best of both worlds! Blood orange ginger dessert: In my opinion, this tasted like bubble gum. No, thank you. Crème Brûlée Tart: This was particularly too sweet for me. And this is not to mention the cookie tart on the bottom being pretty much unbreakable with a spoon. Great tip: Use a knife. Overall, I’ve experienced better.

Cool new little dessert place that just opened up in Bridgeport. Me and my friend got the key lime and chocolate caramel tarts, both were good though I liked the key lime one more. Also got the cappucino, which was made with inteligentsia coffee if I’m not mistaken. I’ll prolly be in the area more since I live in the neighborhood

I’ll round up, even though I think it’s closer to 3(the staff is pretty nice and I do want to give them props because there aren’t many dessert café options down near Bridgeport.) I would come back but wish they would be more consistent!(as mentioned by other reviewers). The first time I came here, the trio French crepes were super delicious(although the salad was bitter).I also had the egg waffle with toppings and a green sesame cake. The egg waffle also had fluffy insides(some were hollow but most of them were fluffy). The sesame green tea cake didn’t taste much of green tea(mostly of sesame) and maybe I’m spoiled by artropolis but the mouse also wasn’t smooth enough either. The second time the crepes weren’t as good; it’s as if the chef didn’t put as much care/taste into them, and they fell apart super easily. The salad was much better though. But the soup I got(cream of chicken) tasted like cream of mushroom as noted even by the table next to me and super watery. If the soup was thicker it would be much better — taste wise, it was ok but probably best to call it cream of mushroom. The egg waffle also was hollow inside which made me sad. The ice peach tea was the same, normal peach tea(kinda tastes the Starbucks one).

It’s a great place just to sit and hangout when it’s not busy. But the food and desserts aren’t consistent. And it’s a lil over priced. I had the green tea and sesame cake before which was $ 4.59 but this month had raised to $ 5.59, with tax it’s over $ 6 for a small piece of cake, I don’t think it’s worth it. It’s even more expensive than Artopolis. The first time I had egg waffle plus was so delicious, it was crispy outside and soft inside. But the second time I ordered it was hollow inside, so prob not enough flour. The worst was what my sister ordered and brought back for me tonight. First I thought it’s chocolate flavor egg waffle, look at the pic. It wasn’t yellow skin on the outside, it was dark. Then inside was hard… Ehhhh if for the price and they can’t keep the quality consistent then I don’t think it is worth going.

There’s not many options on the southside for breakfast so why not give this spot a try. The ample selection of parking and a place that is not crowded on a Sunday morning, what more is there to ask for? I had the caramel toast served with ice cream and banana and it was delicious. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that I had to prepare my own coffee by going to the booth, while eating there.

I came for the much-acclaimed egg waffle, but found it and the whole experience disappointing. First off, the employee that served us was unknowlegeable about the menu. I asked for a Latte Zuccherato and she didn’t even know what that was. I pointed it out to her on their menu, and asked her how she pronunced it and she just shrugged. Second, don’t come expecting a quiet, café environment. There was a family of 3 kids that arrived and with their kid voices, the place got so loud. This has good desserts(the mousse and panna cottas were good) at decent prices, but it won’t be a place I would visit unless I was in the area and no other options were open.

The desserts are cute and delicious, but they are not consistent. Some days are better than others. I’ve seen different chefs working for them. They have EGGWAFFLES(ji dan zai), which is a huge plus. Most of the time it’s pretty good. I recommend getting the Green Tea Vanilla Panna Cotta and Green Tea Sesame Mousse Cake. It’s very light and flavors are well balanced. The store was kind of hard to find. It’s on this corner off Archer. First time getting there, we drove way too far and missed the store. So keep an eye out. Thank god for free parking though.

Wow! Was walking in the around and had to stop in because it looks so cool inside. Would be very popular in Chinatown. Ordered Vanilla Latte to warm myself from the cold. The place has cakes and other sorts of desserts. I would have ordered more if I were hungry. The cashier was very friendly and the place is clean. Would stop by again!

A dedicated dessert spot in Bridgeport! Yes! Late night spot for when those cravings hit. We came after a show at the Icon on Roosevelt on our way home. We had a very rich, sumptuous chocolate mousse. It was dense and very chocolate-y, dark chocolate. We also too some macarrons home which were light and fluffy with great flavor. This is a great date spot. Their menu has brunch and lunch items which we will definitely be back for. Great, friendly service too. Thanks for opening this special place in an area that desperately needs options like J Smile!

Stopped by here on a Monday night after dinner because we were craving desserts. This place just opened and it is at a convenient location, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Egg Waffle Plus with superman ice-cream and strawberry sauce. This was my favorite thing there! The superman ice-cream, which is like sherbet was so good. I am craving it as I type this review. We also ordered the Honey Toast Deluxe, which was pretty huge and filling. They cut the toast into square bites and this was good too. Unfortunately, I am not fat enough to eat both by myself, so if I had to pick I will go with the Egg Waffles. We also tried Jasmine tea and Premium Flower Tea, but they were just okay. Kinda bland, but at least I tried it once so I know to cross that off my list next time.

What a cute spot with super friendly and attentive staff! We got coffee, a pot of tea, and EGGWAFFLES!!! The egg waffles were a bit on the crunchy side. I would have liked them to a bit softer and fluffier on the inside and maybe have more flavors like green tea or chocolate. But I was just so excited to find egg waffles in Chicago! This place was the perfect spot to get some work done on a Sunday afternoon. Free wi-fi, but I think there are only outlets on one side.

OMGAH yes! Finally a café that opens late in Bridgeport and we no longer have to drive to K-town for some sweet treat and its conveniently nearby. Such a cute little café with a variety of items. They have café food and breakfast option but what I love the most is that’s there’s dessert options. I have a crazy sweet tooth and love eating dessert all day. It’s great that their hours are open till midnight and when I have a sweet tooth, I can just go over. We came in last night looking for something sweet to fulfill my craving and I never ever had an egg waffle before so I gave that a try and it was pretty good. They give you some options for toppings like what kind of ice cream along with a wet and dry topping. We got an egg waffle with fudge & chocolate which was great. The tiramisu ice cream was perfect! There were other dessert options in the display and we gave the green tea mousse a try as well and it came in a little cute container with JSmile51 logo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The set up of the café is very cute and cozy. Great place to hang out or just study. Definitely need to come back to give other items on the menu a try. Also, it’s affordable too!
