Terrible service with Michala for manicure. I came for mani and pedi but after the mani I was pretty much running out the door. She had a «tude» the moment I walked in and I almost turned around but said I need my nails and feet done. So I sat through the hand pushing here and there. She didn’t say put your hand here or there… she pushed it. She applied more pressure to one nail and I said not so much pressure. She said you don’t want me to use this tool. I said no just don’t apply so much pressure like you did the other fingers. She said each finger is different. I never got a hand massage. I never got any lotion. After I told her that I didn’t want a pedicure she said «$ 15 and you can sit over there» she waved me away. I did one better, I took my change and left never to return again. I heard the brows were the boom but don’t go for pedi and mani.

I have been going to Jasmin for nearly five years. I have extremely sensitive skin and am very serious about my eyebrows. She always listens to me and does a perfect job on my eyebrows. I have also gotten my legs waxed by Jasmin. Always thorough and quick.

Love this place. I’m so happy that it opened in Hyde park. Service was quick and easy. I was in and out. Parking was easy to get. I think this will be my new thread place.

Walk-​ins accepted. Eyebrow threading ($ 10) quality is great. After an unspeakable months of not maintaining my eyebrows, I doubled checked and found no stray hairs on my eyelids afterwards! No nonsense here, fast service. The place is extremely clean and is never busy.

I went to Jamin’s on Friday May 6, 2016 for a brazilian wax. This place had excellent reviews and when I called prior to visit Jasmin answered my questions freely. Jasmin was very nice on the phone and when I arrived, though she was busy, still seemed to be welcoming. I sat for maybe five minutes when I was called to the back room. This is where I got a little uneasy. The room was VERY small and was not as clean as I thought that it should have been. There was an old chair propped against the wall that did not lay flat with wax/​exam paper strewn across it and she had left a dingy (it was supposed to be white) looking waist skirt laying on the chair for me to put on which I decided not to use. She enters the room and asks me to lay back and begins putting on the wax. The first time she put the wax on she cooled it then placed it on my skin along with a strip and yanked so hard that I screamed «ouch!». I covered my mouth because she had just happened to take a phone call right when she began my wax. This is where I got COMPLETELY turned off… she dipped the stick that she waxed me with back into the pot and continued to wax! A million things were running through my head… I should leave, but hell, she had already put the damn wax on me! Then my next thought was if I catch something I’m coming back to whoop her behind! The second stroke of wax was hot because she didn’t allow it to cool. I told her it was hot, but I guess she didn’t hear me and continued to wax (maybe because she was on the phone). She finished the wax and didn’t provide any after care consulation what-​so-​ever. I got home and my vagina was on fire! I had lots of swelling, itching, redness, and what appeared to be a welt. I called Jasmin the following day to ask about how she sanitizes her wax since she only used one stick on me. She stated that she uses a new stick on clients and throws the remaining wax away. I find that hard to believe since wax is about $ 30.00 per can and it would be much cheaper to buy sticks that you can throw away with each pass to avoid the double-​dip. It is now Sunday, 2 days later, and my twat is still irritated. I have a doctor’s appointment scheduled for tomorrow. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!! This experience has deterred me from getting anymore waxes… EVER. I guess it goes without saying that this was my first and last visit to this place.
Note: She also charged me 40.00 and not the 35.00 that was quoted on the phone, as well as, shown on her price list.

I was introduced to Jasmin’s through my sister after a long and torturous journey of people cutting off half my eyebrows or giving me mountain top eyebrows. When my sister brought me here I figured it can’t get any worse than they were from the previous person I tried out and she was able to redeem what others had messed up. Jasmin is worth E V E R Y dime. I only trust her to touch my eyebrows. I never have to question if I’m going to come out looking crazy because she nails it every time. If you want your brows to look flawless come here!

Love her! After the mall people messed up my brows and I cried she helped get them back right! I will never let another touch my brows.

If my main eyebrow lady was too busy, I’d always stop by Jasmin’s. I visited this location about 3 times after she moved from Tamer salon. There’s never a 2 hour wait (at least not for me) and she take into consideration all your feedback on how you like your eyebrows to look. Price was great too, compared to others in the area.

Jasmin is absolutely amazing! She was the first person to ever thread my eyebrows and now I won’t go anywhere else. I’ve had my nails done by Miciyah a few times and she’s great as well. She uses another type of gel that doesn’t have the harsh chemicals that other nail salons use. Both ladies are friendly, patient and take their craft seriously!

The place is clean and atmosphere nicer than other salons nearby. The manicure/​pedicure lady is super nice and I would give her five stars! I wanted to like this place BUT the attitude of the person who did the thread/​waxing was just too much. Long story below:
I went in and got a mani pedi and eyebrow and upper lip thread. Two different people do them. The manicure/​pedicure lady was great– she even thought of my color while I was waiting and that was exactly what I had wanted!
While the technique of the threader/​waxer was good, the way she treated me was definitely brusque and unequal to others. I waited a long time and spent about 2.5 hours there, so about 10 other customers walked in during the time I was there. To everyone who came in EXCEPT FOR ME– she would say Hello dear or honey-​they were definitely an older clientele (e.g. 30s+) and mostly African American. To provide a comparison I am an Asian in my 20s– I am new to Chicago, and to her place so she has probably never seen me before. It doesn’t me that I should be treated differently when I am paying the same price and tipping fairly! I kept on wondering what I did wrong to have her treat me this way. For example, I was waiting for the mani/​pedi to finish and she could have done my eyebrows before– not because of time constraints but so I could hold the eyelid taut — but she took several other customers after me instead. She then chose to do threading after my manicure, so I couldn’t touch anything– it hurt horribly that way and I was in tears. She just told me I needed to stay still.
I tipped 25% for mani/​pedi — I feel that is above the standard 15% that Tipping for Dummies recommends. I still gave 13.33% to the threader.
However, she forgot to charge the tip on my card. However, she didn’t realize this until 10 minutes later– I had already put on my socks and shoes, etc and was on the street a block away. Suddenly, I hear someone yelling behind me– she flippantly waved her hand like I didn’t pay or something. Excuse me, it is your problem that you did not charge me the correct amount when I had verbally specified how much I was tipping.
All in all, do not recommend for students nearby; I kept on wondering what I did wrong the whole time I was there– I even gave time for them to eat lunch which was delivered right after the person before me finished, despite already waiting minutes– this is NOT how you treat a new and paying customer!

JASMIN IS A BROW QUEEN. I had first visited her salon during the summer shortly after it opened due to proximity to UChicago (walking distance as it is on 55^th St). My friend and I came in on a Saturday morning, and a small line had already formed. It was my friend’s first time getting her eyebrows done and Jasmin was so patient. She let me hold her hand as she got it done and was so sweet! All of the ladies in the salon were so supportive too, and kept assuring my friend that it wouldn’t hurt too badly! SO KIND.
My second time there was this morning, and I loved it just as much as the first time. Jasmin does a really nice clean-​up (not too thin, really natural). You’ll come out with a brow game stronger than Kim K’s.

Lawd Jasmine worked some magic on my brows! I had let my eyebrows grow out for several months upon coming to see jasmine for eyebrow threading. Fast, kind, really CHEAP and I got my brows back! Can you say fleek? On point? Thank you Jasmine!

Jasmin is so friendly and sweet, and she does a great job on eyebrows. This is my new go-​to threading place in HP!

Jasmin is a diamond in the ruff! I came here for my first wax experience! She did an amazing job! She made me feel very comfortable. I love the products she uses and it took over a month for my hair to grow back which was wonderful! I can’t wait to go back!

I had an 8 minute, $ 43 no chip pedicure here. I thought the pedi might be worth the money, but it was not. She filed my toe nails, scrubbed my feet, polished them and that was it. I am used to much more thorough pedicures elsewhere. When I got home I noticed that the paint job wasn’t even very good! It’s a nice and comfortable little spot, but my experience was not positive.

Jasmine’s been threading my eye brows for almost 8 years and I’m so happy she has her own spot now. She’s quick, sanitary, and super sweet. Just like Grace C. I live far north (Glenview) and I still drive to Hyde Park just to see Jasmine.

First time having eyebrows done by Jasmin. Very pleased! Liked this place more than my regular lady on 53^rd. Will definitely be back!
She was very friendly and fortunately my wait was only 5 – 10 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon. I was really impressed with how clean she kept the process, which is my biggest pet peeve with my regular threader. She washed her hands before and applied a calming gel to my brows after.
She did a great job shaping my brows while maintaining the thickness.
The cherry on top for me was how reasonable her prices are!
I’ve definitely found my new regular neighborhood threader!

So excited that Jasmin has her own place now! Her space is much cleaner and has a generally nicer atmosphere than Tamer Salon, where she used to be. I seriously think Jasmin does the best eyebrow threading in Chicago… I still come back to her in Hyde Park even though I’ve moved to the North Side. She’s precise, fast, and does threading at a great price.

I am so glad that Jasmin opened her new salon just a block from Tamer Hair Salon. Wait time is pretty quick since she’s very efficient and clean. Jasmin takes fives minutes to thread my eyebrows and it’s painless (I have been threading for over five years) especially with the cooling gel at the end. For $ 10, this is the best eyebrow threading in Hyde Park.
