I’ve grew up in the area and this place is still my favorite. Every time I’m in town this is a must stop! The Italian beef has so much flavor. Everyone that I’ve taken here has been very impressed! Try it out you won’t be disappointed.

Solid Italian beef. We got it spicy with cheese and dunked well. Bread was nice and juicy soaked in jous and it held up all the way through.

We came here after my girlfriend saw the taping of food network’s «the best thing I ever ate». We dined in and we have to say their beef sandwiches and cheese fries were a let down. Just bland, no flavor, no seasoning. It might be that we compare Italian beefs to our favorite Al’s beef on Taylor St. Well we have to say Boston’s doesn’t come close to Al’s in flavor sorry.

Joe Bostons has the best Beef, Fry, and Pop deal in all of Chicago. The price point is decent but the beef is 100%!! So so good with awesome Giardiniera. Along with the beef sandwich from Bari on Grand and Pops on Kedzie, this is the BEST italian beef sangweech in Chicago.

This place is great! I love their Italian beef sandwiches are great! I usually get the beef and sausage combo dipped with hot and sweet peppers. The service is great as well. My favorite is James who makes the drinks he is friendly and welcoming. They have great chicken sandwiches as well.

The beef sandwich here is outstanding. I prefer a Philly style cheesesteak sandwich. Chicago style Italian beef is great though. This place was on my list of places to try. I was hungover and just wanted to nap. I was driving back to the Airbnb with rest on my mind. I saw Joe Boston’s on the left and knew it was a divine sign to stop. The staff working were extremely friendly and helpful.

I heard you can’t leave Chicago without getting Italian Beef. so we did just that on a random Monday. After getting off the train, we walked around a mile to go here, and it was totally worth it! We got their famous italian beef sandwich with au ju dip and it came out in minutes. The beef and bread was soaked in the sauce, so everything was soft and tender. The quality of the beef was good, and it goes extremely well with the peppers! We killed our sandwich within minutes, and was left wanting more. Glad I got to try the italian beef here, as it did not disappoint! Let’s see if I can find a good spot out here in LA…

As a non-Chicago native, I was surprised to learn of the Italian beef’s existence as an adult. The ten years that have passed since this revelation have been a quest for the ultimate beef. Well, friends, on this day, that quest has come to a triumphant end. Joe Boston is the king of The Beef.

Flew into Chicago O’Hare in the morning and used the blue line and went straight to Kenzie station. Took a bus that dropped me a block away from Joe Boston’s. Not the nicest area of town, but fine right before lunch. No line. It’s about a mile walk from the Blue line and a little less using the red line. 2.5 stars for accessibility. It’s on my bucket list for food – Best Thing I Ever Ate food network program(see wikipedia) – so it was the first thing I tried. Ordered the Italian Beef with cheese and sweet peppers, dipped. I was hungry and inhaled it in about 5 minutes. Similar to a Philly cheesesteak but tastier and wetter since it was dipped. Noticed that the fries were frozen in a bag. Did not try. Not exactly gourmet. 3.5 stars for the food. More of a dive than a date place. Should try the Italian Beef and Sausage sandwich, dipped. If I come back that is what I would try.

Every once in awhile I have an Italian beef that Just knocks my wig back… This isn’t one of those times. I must admit, it wasn’t disgusting, but it didn’t have that uumph to it. I loved the fact that individually I could taste the cheese, the meat, the peppers and the bread. With that being said, the meat was tasteless. That was my only complaint aside From The thing being so darn small.

It’s a real greasy spoon. Fair price, nice guy behind the counter, questionable clientele but room for improvement! A coat of paint, sand the floors and reorganize the layout and it’s a becomes a better joint.

I live in the area and had the stroke of genius to call to ask about party orders for my upcoming birthday. I spoke to Spiro who is the owner. He helped me through the whole process and provided everything I needed to prepare and serve the sammies. He was wonderful — a total standup, hard-working Chicagoan with a business that embodies everything this city stands for. When I came to pick up my order, he was working in the kitchen preparing customers’ orders. He packed up my order himself and gave me tips on preparing the beef and using the sternos. I got a pound and a half of beef, gravy, bread pre-cut into party size portions, sweet & hot peppers, sternos, a rack and tray with lid all for $ 30! He even gave me a Joe Boston pen! If you live in the area and are having a celebration, you should definitely check this place out. Heck, if you live anywhere in Chicago and have a hankering for quality, homemade italian beef or sausage, you should check this place out! Spiro told me that Hungry Hound just rated them #2 italian beef in Chicago, but they will always be #1 in my heart. Thank you, Spiro! I’ll definitely be back.

This place is an ugly, weird out of place hole in the wall in a forest of abandoned wharehouses. Just the way I like it… Normally I am a fan of trendy and cool spots that serve fancy cocktails and lively cuisines. However when it comes to beef sandwiches give me the hole in the wall that serves up fat, juicy beef sandwiches all day long. This place embodies Chicago, a real old school joint. It was established to serve the many blue collar workers that worked in the area many decades ago. Those places have mostly left but Boston’s still stands proud catering to a new gentrified crowd. After a rather dissapointing experience with Bari’s beef a few weeks ago it was nice to get back to familiar tastes. The beef just melts in your mouth along with nice peaks of oregano. Good bread that held everything together, i was rather pleased with my beef. This is what a chicago beef should be like. Unfortunately it does NOT unseat Mr. Beef on Harlem as the best beef I’ve ever had. While the flavors were very good a few subtle shortfalls spelled its doom for top spot. There were some nice peaks of oregano but it didn’t explode in my mouth like Mr. Beef. Also the beefs here are kind of small and not as much beef jammed inside, it seemed like i just took 3 bites and it was gone. Oh BTW, what’s up with those fries(controlled portion)? Are they not the most boring fries ever? Mr. Beef’s fries are better and more plentiful. Overall a very good beef and the type of place a beef joint should be in. They would make my top 5 beefs list. Just NOT #1.

Pop in and treat yourself right. Joe Boston’s serves up a perfect Italian beef, and the atmosphere and location couldn’t be more romantic. Ok, I’m kidding about that but the sandwich is exactly what it’s supposed to be. Delicious, messy and 100% Chicago. Pop in, order, eat, leave happy. Take note, Italian beef is good but the sausage and the peppers & eggs not so much. In fact they are terrible.

It’s the best if you dine in instead of take out. The fries were cold after they got home even though the sandwiches did sustain the entire journey. I asked my husband to bring them home after his work day was over because we had to use up the groupon before the expiration day. I will stay diligent to make a trip to there from now on.

Great Italian beef sandwiches at this location. Unfortunately, I do not know all the Chicago-Italian-beef-lingo: hot peppers, sweet peppers, dipped, not dipped, and he had some other questions where I did not understand what was being asked. After I ate my sandwich I wish I had purchased a second sandwich as the first was so good. I will be back! And I loved the fact that there was not a single thing on the wall. Other hole-in-the-wall restaurants have too many pictures, tchotchkes, and other nonsense on the walls. The bare-bones look sets Joe’s Italian Beef apart from other divey restaurants. Free street parking! You don’t see that in Chicago often.
