I went to Gabrielle at Justin Tobin and Associates for through a very big transitional period in my life that included relationship trauma and a lost child. I am a type A Capricorn. When I started I was not someone who believed in therapy and only went because my partner wanted to do couples counseling as a last resort for our relationship. I ended up going to speak with Gabrielle on and off for three years, at one time with him, sometimes alone and once as part of her women’s empowerment group series. Gabrielle is very very good at her job. As a couples therapist, she is balanced and fair and was able to connect with both of us in our unique own way AND with us together as a couple. We felt that she truely cared about us and even went as far as meeting with us over the phone on the weeekend once because it was something we needed. Her«homework» was amazing– really getting to the bottom of our issues without being to «froo frooey» or too much of a burden to complete. What we gained from her not only saved our relationship, but helped us to grow closer than we had ever been. As an individual women’s therapist, she is an amazing at balancing listening and empathy with practical«get off your but» advice. Gabrielle is not the type who will listen and nod, unless that’s whats needed. It’s a very special type of therapist who knows the difference and can be that responsive. As a group therapist she is fun and an expert and making people feel comfortable connecting with each other on very deep levels after a very short time. That series did not last long, but it completely changed my understanding of personal empowerment. If you ever have a chance to join one do not miss the opportunity. On the JT&A practice more broadly, I’ll say that Justin himself is great to deal with on financial and schedluing. He set me up with one of his other counselors at one point, but her wasn’t quite right for me so we didn’t work out. I will say that it’s a testament to the practice though that they have so many different styles and it’s not an issue to try different counselors.
