Met up some friends here for lunch. Ordered the chicken Biryani which was disappointing as it clearly was not fresh. Ended up trying their paratha with a beef Shami kabob and beef samosa. I was very impressed with the paratha not so much with the Kabab. The Samosa was cold which is never good. When in Devon always take chaat to go. Usually I do spinzer for chaat but since I was here gave them a try. Chaat was ok but not as good as Spinzer. Tried some mithai which was delicious. Overall pretty typical Devon place with some really good items and others not so much. I will get Mithai or snack items but not an entrée again.

Was craving halwa puri and saw the review mention that this place was known for it so I gave it a shot. Overall really solid place. Service was really friendly. Puris were out of this world good. Halwa was okay. Ordered a shaami kabob as well and it was pretty solid. Price was really fair and service was very friendly. Will definitely come back here.

Best halwa puri. Much better than tahoora. The puri is delicious, not too oily and the chanaa is super duper delicious. 5 stars!

I come here whenever I’m craving for traditional Pakistani breakfast or snacks. Halwa Puri, Simple/Aloo(veggie) /Chicken Parathas, Bun Kabab, Club sandwich, Papri and Samosa chat, Rus Malai, Kajoo katli, Kashmiri tea and you name it, love it all depending on the mood and time. Staff is really friendly and sitting arrangements are ample, never too crowded esp if you are with family. The only thing that I think they can improve is the black tea which is way too strong over here.

I got faluda here thinking it would be GREAT… It wasn’t. It was ok. The noodles weren’t cooked all the way and it was lukewarm. The taste was good but the texture and temp wasn’t.

The falooda is made fresh, and replenishes the mind, body and soul. This place also has great sweets available for purchase as well!

Amazing place on Devon Ave! I have a huge sweet tooth and needed my sugar fix after lunch. We came here on a Friday at 1:02PM and they were closed for an hour :(We roamed around and came back. So glad we did. We got the Kashmiri Chai and carrot halwa along with some sweets to take back home. I would highly recommend getting the chai and the halwa. The halwa actually has koya in it, and it was fresh and hot when we ordered. The chai had a unique flavor to it, and had ton of slivered almonds. The service behind the counter was good too :)

Love this place but I’ve got to admit, I only come here for the Kashmiri Chai. that’s all. I’m not huge on sweets and I’ve never had their food. Like I said prev. I only come for the Chai :)

Really good mitthai! Very fresh. I dont understand why people get sweets from tahoora, their mitthai is horrible rubbery and not fresh at all! Also their bun kabab was bomb!!!

Pastries are pretty good, I love the pistachio ones. Super cheap prices, the guy helping me and my friend out on to what to try was super friendly. Plan on coming back here.

This was by far the worst online ordering experience I’ve had through eat24. It took over 2 hours to get food delivered to Lakeview on a Sunday. I first got an alert that eat 24 was unable to confirm with the restaurant after 20 minutes, so I called and had to reorder. By time it arrived, it was lukewarm, and they forgot the 2 samosas I’d ordered. That said the food was good, nicely spiced and everything, but I’ll stick to closer Indian restaurants next time.

My Unilocal app is not posting tips, so I have to write an update. Describing this place as «no frills» might just be the understatement of the millennium. I mean they don’t need to go all upscale, but surely they can do better than serving food on paper plates, and using plastic utensils and paper cups. They can also upgrade the restrooms. «Why the four stars, then?», you might ask; and a good question that would be. While the ill-kept interior of this restaurant, which generally is in keeping with the environs of Devon Avenue, by the way, might have been a deterrent for me from visiting again, the excellent taste of the food keeps drawing me back. This is, perhaps, the closest to authentic Pakistani street food that you can find in this part of the world. The paapri chaat, as I mentioned in my previous review, is among the better renditions I have had in recent years. The tangy tamarind chutney and the sweet yogurt nicely complement the very hot chaat masala, which is sprinkled on with a very generous hand! For more details on the other menu items, please read my original review. Service continues to be very cordial.

This was my first time going here since it was recommended to me by my friends friend for their awesome Aaloo paratha. I went there for lunch and there was no welcome from the owner. I had hair in my dahi and when we told them the only response we got was, «ok.» Got me new dahi and no sorry or anything. I am not asking for free food but couldn’t he at least apologize for ruining my appetite. WILLNEVEREVERGOBACKHERE!!!

BOOOOO!!! Have you ever paid $ 5 for a paratha roll simply because you got it to go? If I remember correctly, ghareeb nawaz, charges $ 2.50 n Tahoora/Pak Sweets are about $ 3.50. I ordered 5 of them from king sweets after their change in ownership a few years back and I had to pay nearly $ 30 for JUST5 paratha rolls! I used to go there pretty often for their bun kebab after Tahoora’s quality dropped, also for their cold chicken boti mayo sandwiches n paratha rolls, and I think before the change in ownership – they kept their prices pretty much the same as Tahoora’s. ANYWAY, so I asked the guy WTH?! Why so much? N he says oh because u got it to go– I went so!!! So he told me because we hav to do more work n we have to use aluminum foil and a bag! OMG!!! I didn’t want to be a jerk and say u can shove your parathas up yer u kno whr; instead I quietly paid and left but since then, they’ve lost business from me, my family and my friends!

Having never been to a South Asian bakery, I really cannot comment on how good this bakery is compared to others. I enjoyed my experience here with the gooey, sweet pastries. The young man working the counter was also friendly, patient, and nice.

My 5 stars is for the Kashmiri chai. I haven’t tried anything else here. It’s hard to make and I haven’t mastered it on my own yet but I will happily drive 30 minutes in traffic just to hoard this stuff from King Sweets :)

2 words: Kashmiri Chai. or 4 words: Kasmiri Chai and Rasmalai(that rhymes) Granted, this is primarily a sweet shop, so I haven’t really partaken in the savoury dishes, but this is one of the few desi places that I’ve visited that serves Kashmiri Chai.(perfect for a typical Chicago blustery winter day after rotations, chilling with friends) The rasmalai is very rich and creamy. They sell it by weight IIRC. They have umpteen versions of barfi, gulab jamun, jalebis, etc but I stick with my 2 favs. It’s generally clean and quiet. Some evenings, there are usually packs of «uncles»(older Indian/Pakistani men) discussing politics or current events, but that adds to the charm. King Sweets is usually the end of a Desi Crawl on Devon, which starts with Sukhadias for snacks/chaat, Sabri Nehari or Khan BBQ for entrees, and King Sweets for dessert. Jai Hind!
