This place is all kinds of awesomeness. I love Mexican food and this place has a great menu with a lot of variety at a reasonable price. I highly recommend the Tampiqueña and the pozole… It’s scrumptious. My boyfriend and I have dined in and ordered delivery. Dine in is casual, and the servers are very friendly. Service is pretty fast. Delivery is quick, customer service is on point, food is delicious. Great place to eat :)

It’s a typical greasy Mexican fare on Clark in Rogers Park(and I mean greasy in a good way). While, I’ve only been once, we split a chorizo burrito and enchiladas and I had a cabeza taco while my friend had a chicken gordita. Was in the mood for tamales instead of enchiladas, but they don’t have them. Cabeza was delicious and tender. The enchiladas were good and the chorizo was cooked perfectly. I liked the atmosphere better than most no frills restaurants. The bathrooms are clean and the décor is nice The place is deceptively big and you can find a comfy seat and have your owns space most times.

Can’t complain about this place. I love quesadillas and they have this«super quesadilla» for $ 7 that really hit the spot, it was enormous and the steak was good. I’m eager to try their other food. This place is just another solid mexican diner In chicago with really affordable prices and good food, one of my favorite parts about the city.

What do you prefer when you go out for Mexican? A trendy looking spot with average food or a restaurant that looks like your abuela’s basement with knockout food? La Choza is the later. In fact, their Carne Asada is so good you might smack your grandma. It’s a quiet little spot on Clark serving up some of the best Mex in RP. There are large tables for groups and small tables for small groups. The menu has all the go-to items plus some more unique stuff. The service is friendly and too the point. Try the carne with onions jalapeño and cactus. I did and it was quickly one of the best Mexican dishes I’ve had.

Best burritos and horchata I’ve had in Rogers park. I definitely recommend this place it’s my go to for Mexican food in the area. The restaurant is very clean and chill. The staff is attentive and friendly. It’s convenient for me as it is walking distance from where I live but it is also located near bus stops and minutes from the red line.

Ordered food at 9:06pm. Was supposed to be delivered by 10:25pm. It was not. I called the store to conform order at 10:47pm. Were not helpful. Had to call again to replace the order. The food arrived at 11:40pm. Delivery driver wasnt pleasant. Tacos were cold and burnt. Chips were stale. Called to complain. Was told that there was nothing they could do. Was not offered refund for return. I work in the industry. I get it — problems occur. But work on your customer service. Never ordering from this business again. Terrible service. A literal $ 24.21 thrown in the garbage.

I work very close to this restaurant and often stop for lunch to grab a couple carnitas tacos for carryout. They are delicious. The rest of their food is mediocre, and the service varies dependent on who is at the counter. I go basically out of convenience when it’s too cold to walk somewhere better. I will NEVER be back, however, as today I received inexcusable service. The waitress completely ignored me even though I was the only person at the counter. I had to ask if I could order. When I tried to get my tacos, she snipped«No carnitas today!» as if I was an idiot to not know they didn’t bother to make it today. I ordered a small soup and a pastor taco instead, even though their pastor is just ok. Instead of ringing me up, she ignored me the entire TWENTYMINUTES it took to get my food. When my order was finally ready, she tried to charge me $ 10 for an enormous soup. I told her I ordered a small and she claimed they don’t do small soups to go. I kindly responded that she did not tell me that when I ordered and I was not willing to pay $ 10 for soup. Rather than working with me and admitting her mistake, she was rude and rolled her eyes at me. I walked out, hungry and angry and grabbed tamales from next door where the employees are competent and kind.

I ordered from La Choza via GrubHub. The tacos are delicious; plenty of meat filling them. Gorditas were a bit greasy, but still flavorful as well. The reasons I’m only giving four stars are because a) I requested lime on the side and none was included and b) the delivery order says(in ALLCAPS) NOT to ring my bell, but the driver did anyway and it woke up my roommate. :(

Came here for the first time after a taco craving at midnight. I ordered the Pastor, pollo and asada tacos, as well as the guac with chips. Everything was just okay. The pollo taco left no impression and it felt like I was just eating it to eat, not because I really wanted to take another bite. The Pastor taco was better, the pork was juicy and flavorful. The asada one was okay. The chips weren’t salted and the guac was very blend. It just felt like I was eating a combination of crunchy and buttery things but they had no flavor. There are better taco places around, so I’ll definitely check those out before I head back to this one.

One of my go to spots for Mexican food in Rogers Park. There are a lot of choices, from El Famous Burrito, Uptown Taqueria, Hernandez, and Rocky’s Tacos to name a few. La Choza, holds a high ranking due to their authenticity of their food, the quality of their meat, and the consistency of his quality of food and service. The place is huge. If you dine in, I don’t think you have to worry about finding a table. You can sit close to the counter and watch some TV, or you can sit in a secluded corner in a quieter spot. Service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is clean and welcoming with portraits of Frida Kahlo and paintings of places in Mexico. The food is amazing and priced to please. Some of my favorite entrees are breakfast dishes. The Desayuno La Choza is filling and satisfying with 2 eggs over easy, slightly spicy tomato sauce and onions on top, and rice and beans on the side. Served with fresh, hot, warm corn tortillas. The burritos and tacos are also a good deal. I like that they fill their burritos with the yummy stuff and not too much lettuce like El Famous. The horchata(sweet rice water with cinnamon) is decent, but not as good as Diamanté Azul which is a little smoother and sweeter, which is my personal preference. If you want a taste of what home-cooked Mexican food can be like and aren’t lucky enough to have a Mexican mom to cook for you, this place comes in at a pretty close second to my Mom’s home cooking.

Very clean. Clark street pretty much a «Mecca» for nice homestyle mexican food cafes. Best salsa selection I’ve had at any of these places along Clark street.

I wouldn’t even give it a star. Waitress was too busy talking to someone that she forgot to tell the cook about our order. Plus, the other table ordered a different entrée that they returned it due to it having a bad taste. I waited 40min for my food. Once I heard her tell the cook you haven’t made her order I was extremely upset. Walked up to them and told them forget it I don’t want anything! As we were walking out, she yells to tell me at least pay for the horchatas. Wtf! I left a $ 5 on the table but shouldn’t have! Never will I ever go back!

We ordered take-out on a Sunday night. I ordered a steak burrito and my husband and I shared guacamole. This place definitely seems popular no matter the time of day. My burrito was seriously massive. It can easily be shared between two people, and they cut in half. It is a great deal for the price. The guacamole was a tad bland, but it is definitely passable and palatable. My husband liked his tacos.

I was more than pleasantly surprised! I had a pretty straight forward, typical order. Cheese quesadilla, steak burrito, horchata. Cheese quesadilla was prepared perfectly, served with sides Steak burrito was very tasty– I had to share it with my two trusty roommates, the yowling and panting was getting out of control. I seriously have a new go to!

I used to love this place. But the last few times have been disapointing and I wine be going back. When my was there a couole months ago, his girfriend discovered a piece of stainless steel in her food. The kind found in a brillo pad. They offered him. A credit for their next visit. While she was reticent to return, she agreed. But there was no record of a credit Ave it was never granted. I owned my own business for 30 years and I believe in transparency. Which is why I object to the fact that they never give you an itemized bill. Just a piece of paper with your order scribbled in restaurant shorthand and a total. Tonight we questioned it and it turned out we were overcharged. In addition, the service was pretty bad. The restaurant is quite large and there were only 2 tables. The other was just hanging or watching tv. The part of the counter which wood give then a full view of the patrons is blocked by drink machines. Our waitress said«just tell me when you’re ready. But we had to get up and go find her in order tob place an order. Like I said, I used to love this place. But it’s overpriced and far too much work for mediocre quacamole and super greasy chorizo. Frankly, I’ve never been bkown away by the place. But it was convenient to my home. When I go out eat, I don’t want to have to work this hard.

This place is awesome. The chicken enchiladas con mole were great! Also had the pechuga de pollo con queso was really juicy! Chargrilled! The beans and rice are basic food items but were still enjoyable! And they have Mexican Coke! Definitely a good spot!

Our first time trying La Choza was as take-out. The second time we dined in, and now we have TWO great ways to access tasty Mexican fare! It’s a clean, bright establishment with clean updated restrooms. There was an open kitchen(well, a large pass-through window anyway), the food was cooked to order, and our waitress was attentive. I tried the chilaquiles(verde) this time and was very happy. I took some home and still delicious next-day! We ordered the chorizo gordita again but decided we liked it better when it came delivery. This second time in-restaurant was a little dry. The hub got his usual steak burrito and we did tongue tacos again too without complaint. The bill was reasonable which we anticipated since we’d ordered a prior time. The star of our dine-in experience was the trio of salsas — red, green and rustic, i.e. fresh, zesty and zippy! So inspired, I make my own version now at home of the finely diced tomato, onion, jalapeño and cilatro with squeeze of lime. All in all, La Choza is still delicious and still worth going back in-person or via delivery.(:
