I love this place!!! The cashier that handled us was very nice. I recommend tacos: lengua(beef tongue), cabeza(beef/pork? head), carne asada(steak), and carnitas(grid pork). I live on the north side so it’s a bit far from me… so next time I get a chance to get someone to drive me where, I would!!! INCRAVING!!!

This is a great place to come for cheap tacos. The burritos are kind of American-y and the quesadillas are very small and fall apart easily, so I wouldn’t recommend those. They have a huge amount of things you can have as the meat in your taco, my favorite being higado encebollado(liver and onions))!! They come on two delightful tortillas, topped with onions and cilantro. Get three for the best dinner under $ 5 around. Their fresh juices are also really good, carrot with orange is my favorite. Only downside is that every time I order, the waitress has to ask the cook if they have what I want. Frequently, they don’t have at least half the things on the menu. That has improved some since their re-opening. Get a little more consistent guys, and you’ll be stars!

I’m in love with this place. Was coming here for food at fraction of the price while attending a convention at McCormick Place. So delicious. So cheap. So much better than the junk at the convention center. Their tacos are wrapped in a single foil of aluminum. And they give you another foil of aluminum loaded with cilantro, onions, and wedges of lime. Red and green hot sauces accompany it all. Both the chorizo and asada are divine! Minimal English, but fast service, friendly atmosphere, and an amazing value — been here 5 times already in just 3 days. Gracias, La Mixteca!

Homemade tortillas for the quesadillas are a plus! Their fries are seasoned which my sister loved. Their portions are good and the seasoning is excellent. The prices are very decent. THe only bad thing is the fried smell, when you leave not only is your belly full but you get to take the bouquet of the fried mexican food with you. If they improve the ventilation then its a winner.

I’m not sure when this place opened, but it wasn’t visible on «Street View» as recently as 2011, so it probably hasn’t been around too long. La Mixteca Poblana is on the NE corner of Cermak and Marshall Boulevard. Its yellow sign is hard to miss. Inside, the menu(such as it is) exists on the east wall. I remember only $ 1 tacos, but there are at least a few other options. The tacos? Pretty good. I tried the chicken and steak tacos(two apiece). I’d give a slight edge to the steak. My co-worker and I had a total of eight tacos for $ 10. That’s hard to beat.
