There are biker lanes that look very smooth; the walkers should remain on the side. The scenery is very nice and it’s a very pleasant walk. I suggest not walking here at night if you are alone; I came across a very inappropriate/rude guy.

Favorite place in Chicago to workout, bike along for transportation, catch up with friends, reflect, train for races, and bring visitiors. Lakefront trail is ~20 miles long and goes all the way from the South Side of Chicago to Evanston(I’ve done the whole trail by bike). You’ll get to go through different parks, beaches, Lincoln Park Zoo, and parts of Chicago on a nicely paved trail. Excellent skyline views. There are even a couple of food stands along the path. A lot of my friends use this trail for transportation. You have to access this path at some points through a tunnel on the others side of Lake Shore Drive(there’s one at Chicago Ave, Ohio St, and Oak St). Chicago takes good care of the Lakefront trail. There was a storm that broke up the pavement so it looked like there was an earthquake, but it was repaired to new within a week.

Living in Streeterville, I absolutely love lake front trail. It is good for biking and running. One must watch out for idiot walkers who pay no attention to people actually utilizing the trail for a work out as I have had a number of near misses. I wish the trail was a big better kept as I have experienced a number of flat tires on my road bike. I prefer the south portion of the trail to the north as it is less densely populated by people and is in my opinion in better condition. That said, the portion from Lincoln park tennis courts to Loyola is a great straight away to gather speed.

I LOVE this trail. You get some of the best skyline views in the city from this path. I love the length and the width. My only complaint is the slanted angle the path takes by Oak Street Beach. The angle makes it hard to ride on, especially when we have our kids with us and have to ride slower. The crowds on weekends are annoying sometimes, but what can you do? I’m not the only person that loves this path.
