When this place first opened years ago, it made great authentic steak tacos. Over time I’ve witnessed their service & quality go downhill. It seems like a typical thing for these little hole-in-the-wall taco restaurants to change management or ownership abruptly without necessarily making that information public in any way, shape, or form with the consumer. The public is usually only informed of this change once they are disappointed with the bad service & quality they receive, having been taken, under the assumption everything was/is still operating as usual. Most recently, I was looking to satisfy a late-night taco craving, and came here with a couple friends. The place was empty, and only one guy was working(washing dishes & manning the grill) at the same time. Needless to say, we were all disappointed when we tasted the food. The tacos we received on 01.06.2016(ORDER # 1055) were cold, fatty, and essentially uneatable. We called ‘Rosa’ the manager/supervisor, and she refused to offer any sort of sensible solution, and so we offered one. We paid with a credit card, and yet our receipt says ‘cash’. Looks like they’re not interested in paying their business taxes, which makes me wonder what other shortcuts they’ve taken in their business operation. Why not just refund our credit card?! Rosa informed us that ‘they didn’t offer refunds’, and that if they as the business owners couldn’t get a credit from their meat vendor, why would they refund us for our order? OK Rosa, it’s not that serious. This was an illogical arugment, and so we went ahead and asked for a food credit, and she said«we’ll give you a taco or two» on the house. A taco or two?! Ha! I think not. How about, you keep my $ 32.06, and I write you a negative review for the terrible experience. Never again…

Always great food! Never ordered anything that I didn’t like. Steak is cooked perfect. Super burrito is the way to go, has the whole meal wrapped up in a tortilla. Defiantly the best bang for your buck.

HORRIBLE! With 1000s of Mexican joints in Chicago why bother with this dump! Just go to Lazos or Arturos next door. you’ll get treated way better and you wont wanna throw up after your meal!

Ahh, Las Asadas. A tad on the expensive side, but at least 80% of the time the burritos and tacos are stellar. Try to go during lunch and dinner — the quality seems to go down later at night.

This is great. We popped in for a late morning snack. The tacos are great, staff is super friendly, and while it isn’t fancy it’s totally legit. No regrets about this stop!

We ordered for the first time and the food is pretty good. Had a tostada and a taco and they were both good. The steak tasted really good. The green sasa, the thicker one, was way better than the more liquid one, and a lot spicier. My only issue was that we didn’t get the entire order. They forgot a couple of items and when we called, they just said they forgot but didn’t really offer a solution.

Every type of taco, tostada, etc is delicious. Picky Mom agrees. Of her veggie tostada, she says: «This is so delicious you hate for the last bite to do down. The beans are really flavorful. Good to the last drop.»

Las Asadas serves delicious, authentic Mexican tacos. At less than $ 3 a taco, one can’t go wrong at any time of the day or night– and Las Asadas is open late. A stone’s throw away from the Western stop and Logan Square, Las Asadas serves up piping hot«boquitas» as if hot off the street in Mexico City. When hunger hits after a night out at the bars, Las Asadas is there to soothe your cravings with a touch of querida mamá.

When it comes to tacos I think late night, cheap quick food. I know it’s all about location but the tacos are definitely not worth $ 3 … and a $ 9 dollars burrito really? I mean the taste is there I guess, but I expected some delicious tacos for the price and it was just an ehh. not to mention the cook threw my tortillas in the microwave… so what do you have a grill in front of you for? Save money and walk over a block to the next taco joint…

Took a chance and decided to dine in for lunch today. The place was pretty empty so I was skeptical. I ordered 2 tacos. one chicken, one steak both with lettuce, cheese, tomato and onions. They were ready within 5 mins. To me that’s good n bad. Being that my time was limited I appreciated my food being ready so fast but clearly the meat was prepared in advance. The steak was tasty, the chicken was ok, maybe I should’ve got sour cream. The lady behind the counter was extremely nice. Overall I will return due to its convenience to my job and the tacos were pretty good. I was satisfied.

After reading a couple of reviews i decided to give them a try i must say they are pretty good for your average little Mexican restaurant. One of the down falls is they are pretty expensive 2.95 for tacos and 9 dollars for a burrito that’s crazy when i got my steak tacos they were not hot at all pretty much seem like they were cooked an hour ago and left outside to cool the rice was pretty good full of favor. down to the point would i come back here. no not unless the prices drop

I was telling some friends that I think I found the best steak tacos in the city* and it was actually a place on the Northside. When you make such a bold statement, it’s quite common to get push back. «Well have you haven’t tried all tacos so…» that kind of thing. No, I haven’t tried every taco, but I know a good taco when I’ve had it. If «you are what you eat» I think I could safely say that I am 40% taco, so while I haven’t been everywhere, I’ve been to a lot of places. One of my friends said that they heard Las Asadas was the best in town for carne asada tacos. I mean asada is right in the name, so they have to have amazing asada tacos, right? When I went in the lady behind the counter recommended the steak tacos specifically. So I was ready for the best, if not the second or third best steak tacos in the city. It’s obvious to me now that people have lost their damn minds. The steak was chewy and had hard bits. The flavor was nonexistent. I think I might have given them 3-stars had no one hyped it up or if Las Asadas wasn’t on local top ten lists(I think it was Chicagoist). Either way, the two stars are for the service. They were nice. Don’t get me wrong, these tacos are far from the worst and if I walking in to just get my taco fix, it would have been an A-OK experience. I think I was expecting too much and these tacos just fell flat. *Note: I’m not trying to promote another business here, so I will not be referring my favor steak taco joint as an alternative.

My self and three other people decided to go and try different Mexican place to see how the food is. We were driving and decided to stop by here. Everything was so expensive tacos were $ 2.95 for steak. We ordered one of two items of everything. Once we got our food the steak had no flavor it was not seasoned the chicken you can taste that it was boiled. Rice had no flavor and was over cooked. There was four of us and i decided to rate our experience so everyone gives or takes a star. Because no one liked the food we are going to give this establishment a one star.

This place was my go to taco joint for years, but lately it’s been a bit of hit or miss. Prices keep going up which isn’t good since quality has been spotty. Some days the food is perfect and sometimes it’s just avarage. Their steak is usually delocious.

Another Mexican Restaurant bites the dust. Las Asadas used to be a great restaurant but as with many other Mexican restaurants as their popularity increased so did they’re prices. Although prices increased the quality of the food has decreased. Tonight I ordered a carne asada burrito but instead of steak I received something that resembled burned flavorless dog food straight out of the can. Las Asadas has joined the ranks of other embarrassing Mexican restaurants like La Pasadita on Ashland. May they rest in peace. EDV

I chose this place because it was highly rated, I didn’t just want to choose just any Mexican restaurant because I know, this is going to be a rare occasion for me now because I just moved back to the suburbs. Only a few restaurant in the suburbs knows how to cook Mexican food. But ohhhh boy, I was wrong. The steak burrito in this place, I don’t know how to explain it, but it was just a NO for me, even though I ordered everything on it, the burrito still came out tasteless… Only a few restaurant can screw up something that has avocado in it… I mean avocado makes everything delicious… But even that can’t help how nasty their burrito was. Also, the steak left me with a nasty taste… there was a taste to it that I don’t even want to remember anymore. I guess, I was just spoiled to the great and flavorful steak meat I’ve had when I used to live in Portage Park. Props to them for grilling their meat… but no points for tasteless arrachera.

Western is full of taco spots but this is the first place I have had so far. I tried 3 different tacos, carne asada, barbacoa, and chicken. The carne asada was good, meat was tender. The barbacoa was prb my fave. It was juicy and had a saltier meatier taste to it. The chicken was not bad. Most taco spot mess up chicken tacos really bad. The chicken here isnt great but its not bad. All the tacos are sprinkled with onions and cilantro! Overall decent tacos but nothing special. Its a small place and parking kinda sucks, ps the small little parking space they have on a one way street, is not worth it, you will have a harder time getting out of that then prb eating your whole meal!

This place is dirty and gross do not eat here! I witnessed the line cook pretending to wash his hands at the sink before preparing my food who knows what he was doing in the back?! Prob wiping his ass. I cancelled my order and wont be coming back. Avoid this place. Unfortunately I ll stick to chipotle though it has little flavor and usually cold food. *** If you want to catch a cold or food born illness then this the place for you.

Based on taste, Las Asadas is awesome. But based on best value you’re better off somewhere else. Las Asadas is in the same boat as La Pasadita for me. Over-priced. Almost $ 10 for a burrito? Better yet not even a full burrito, it looked like half a burrito. It doesn’t matter for me to pay a lot if I feel it was totally worth it. This was not. Paid $ 17.37 for 2 tacos, a burrito with cheese and 1 medium Horchata. Wack.
