Best carne asada tacos in town. Don’t be put off by the plain(to put it mildly) décor. The food is great and the proprietor is friendly and takes great pride in the fresh dishes he prepares right in front of you. Be sure to sit at the bar and watch him cook.

This is the first time Unilocal let me down. With 5 stars, this place looked like a real gem but didn’t pan out. It’s a divey place, which I’m okay with. We walk in to the empty restaurant and we get a look from the bartender like«you’re going to eat here?» The music was from someone’s phone or computer and repeated the same Katy Perry song 5 times & then Pharell’s «Happy» another 3 times. The prices were promising — $ 5 for an entrée could redeem the experience. The food was pretty good, nothing special as I expected. I was still trying too hard to make this my new favorite Mexican restaurant when I got the bill. For 2 entrees($ 5.75 each roughly) &1 cheap beer was $ 20. My Modelo Especial was apparently also $ 6 unless they charged us for the chips, not sure. The bartender and the cook(presumably also the owner) walk to the table after charging my card to let me know that they couldn’t figure out how to add a tip. They asked US if we knew how. Disappointed that I’ve already paid too much for okay food, they had to run my card again to leave a tip I don’t think they deserved.

This place is awesome for so many reasons. I’d give it a thousand stars if I could.

I was recently introduced to Lindo Palmar and it’s delightfully friendly owner Pedro by my friend Paul. He suggested that we meet to eat vegetarian burritos and play chess. I was absolutely surprised at the quality of the food as I saw Pedro precisely chopping a mountain of veggies for our lunch, Before our meal was ready he served us chips and delicious homemade green salsa. He was a consummate restauranteur who could schmooze while serving drinks and cooking up a storm. After I left, I could not forget the taste of what is now my favorite veggie burrito. A couple weeks later Paul invited several of his friends for what turned out to be quiete a feast. The highlight of which was a seafood soup that Pedro had meticulously prepared. Actually I am on my way thrre for lunch today and I’m looking forward to enchiladas, vegetarianos con mole! I highly recommend this as an off the beaten track and charming little Cantina.
