Got some nice sized live herbs here way cheaper than even Trader Joe’s. My mint plant is thriving– $ 3 well spent. It’s a little farmer’s market, but I’m spoiled and my first year and a half of farmer’s market experience was in Madison, WI. I’m not sure how anyone could compete. It’s cute and has great hours– much later than any weekend market I’ve heard of. Fruit & veggie prices seem reasonable. On par with the organic stuff at someplace like Whole Foods. Shop around before you buy though– prices on the same thing vary a lot.

Surprisingly larger than I thought it would be. There is a great variety of stalls. Great place if you’re interested in the –free stuff: Gluten free, dairy free, etc. Lovely place to take your kids and pets. Additionally, there is real food served such as grilled sandwiches, burgers, etc.

The LSFM and the Green City Market are my two go-to markets in the Chicago area. Both are excellent, but I tend to like the vibe of Logan more. The vibe is definitely very laid back with lots of families and their fantastic canines spending what I believe is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. My go-to stand places for produce such as corn, melons, and carrots is Geneva Lakes. Their goods are consistently of good quality and prices are super reasonable. If salad mix, kale and other greens are what you’re looking for, hit up Growing Home(located right across from Geneva Lakes). They tend to also have fantastic tomatoes in the summer as well. More awesome than their produce is their model. They’re a non-profit organization with urban farms in the South Side of the city, and they really do a great job in training less privileged people in the community by providing training on the job and in the future. For meat, Mint Creek, Cedar Valley and Jake’s are present at the market. Both Mint and Cedar have fantastic eggs and Jake’s ham and bacon are top notch. You cannot leave the market without having brunch. The two vendors I tend to gravitate towards are Gayle’s for grilled cheeses(breakfast ones are decadent) and Spencer’s for a banger+back bacon sandwich. Floriole out of Lincoln Park has a stand to help curb your sweet cravings. Aside from the sweets(love the doughnuts), they have these personal sized pizzas ready to be devoured. I have yet to try one, but they do look good. If you’re looking for a loaf of sourdough or a baguette, La Boulangerie is your stand. I love the sourdough bread! The consistency makes for a great sandwich or some French toast! Despite being located in a busy area, parking is actually not too difficult to find. You can always find spots on Milwaukee within a few blocks. The area is also easily accessible by the Blue Line and various CTA bus lines.

Probably one of the best if not the best farmers market in the city. Along with being consistent, LSFM holds it down with options on top of options of organic booths and fresh foods. I imagine some people do their«grocery» shopping here and it would not be difficult. There are also some«restaurant» style food options for lunch that are located throughout but most notably on the eastern most part of the market. Get your fresh flowers and plants, cheese, fruits and vegetables, while enjoying a nice summer day.
