The only thing that is bad about this place is that I don’t have more money so I can’t buy all of their stuff. Seriously, I feel fortunate to live down the street from Lotus Keep. Every time we’re walking to Bite, we stop to ooh and ahh over the new, awesome oil paintings(or glass work, or sculpture, or the amazing clothing that one of the brothers’ friends makes which I want with all of my secretly fashionista heart) or peek in at one of the guys painting in the back(I’m not a creep… I swear!). There are periodic openings/shows and parties here, and you’re in luck because if you show up, not only will you find a great range of stuff, from quirky scenes to pretty-creepy portraits to wonderlands filled with fuzzy creatures, in a range of prices, but you’ll also have awesome people to drink and talk with, a giant pool table, a cute dog. Seriously sweet.

Two bros and their super awesome friends share a gallery full of awesome, fabulous, reasonably priced art and attire? Yes. The work is highly varied including sculpture, glass work, graphite, oil, etc. plus well tailored clothing, all in a range of prices(I’ve seen things in the $ 20s up to the $ 1000s) makes great art affordable to everyone. Plus, the multiple styles pursued by the Hong brothers and their accomplices means that there’s something for all of your friends, from the sweetest, lacy dress wearing, cupcake making girl you ever met to that weird, Apocalypse obsessed metal-head dude you know.

Lotus Keep Gallery is an interesting storefront gallery space. It seems like it is a cross between painting studio, art gallery, and pool hall. This definitely not your river north nor river west gallery space. It is something more unique. There is some great art work on the walls, floors, and in the air. The last show I saw they had metal and glass sculptures, paintings, and a 4d sound and video installation. They have some interesting shows even though the space is a very uninteresting office space with its dropdown ceiling. They have a show coming up called ODB day, which stands for Old Dirty Bastard day. They must be WuTang fans.
