Talk about sticker shock for mixed well drinks at a dive bar and served in some small glasses too. I’m not quite sure how this place attracts a regular crowd and is able to keep its doors open.

Best bar in the south loop! Its not the drinks — Its not the food — Its the history of energy in that room. A very old bar indeed with a great overall feel to relax and unwind. + A superb meeting spot: red line, brown line, blue line and 290 expressway.

Ok. Nevermind. No more foosball. Overcharged for drinks and soda. $ 3 per soda? The bar will probably continue not to be crowded.

This place is disgusting. It’s filthy and small. There is no reason to go here as there are plenty of nearby bars.

highlights of the night include… –watching the drunk bartender refill a USED, unwashed, half-full glass of whiskey coke with my vodka soda. –looking down to witness an inch long cockroach(not including antennae) crawl across my hand.

I have many fond, yet blurry memories of closing down Manhattan’s: the toes I stepped on; the fratty guys I insulted; the enormous tabs. Good times. Somewhat dank and dirty, but one of the few places in the loop to drink(heavily) until late hours. For that, Manhattan’s has my love and gratitude.

Always friendly bartenders, and I’ve been here like 10 times. Generally a decent crowd, less obnoxious than Cal’s or something. Feels more like a neighborhood bar than an after-work Loop beer spot(which, to me at least, it is). Generally, there’s a drink special for $ 4, which is also great for the Loop. My go-to spot for an after work drink. Not overrun with button-up dbags, like most other loop bars.

Manhattan’s has catered to us Fire Fans this past Fall, I always had a great time here, now to see if they will show any of the European Matches in the middle of the afternoon during the winter.

Hooray for my 100th review! This sort of looks like a dive bar. The drinks are cheap, $ 2.50 budlight drafts. Hey that’s what I stuck to. They have a couple of video games, dart machine and the computer games that they place in certain bars. There are more older men in here than anything but we were so engrossed in our conversation so whatever.

This bar greatly disillusioned me yesterday. A bar close to work, my co-workers and I went there to celebrate an anniversary last year, and we were very delighted with the place. So, again we went to Manhattan’s for this year’s anniversary, and were very much so disappointed. I ordered a vodka gimlet and received a double shot of vodka. My co-workers who ordered a gin and tonic, were given small glasses(i mean it, they were tiny!) that weren’t even filled to the top. In addition, the prices for the drinks that we got were outrageous. That wasn’t too surprising after taking a look at their specials and seeing Schlitz at more than a $ 1.50. I’m not knocking Schlitz, by any means, but as a special it’s usually under $ 2. We had had enough after we ordered a sampler appetizer, which cost $ 9 by the way, and received a small fry basket(you know the red plastic ones you get fries in) with probably one strip of chicken(not completely cooked) cut up, and a few mozzarella sticks, and a couple jalapeño poppers. That was it! We paid the tab, and walked out. When someone you don’t like offers to take you out, bring them here. Order vodka gimlets and sampler appetizers all night and stick them with the bill.

Ok, I have a slight bias when I talk about Manhattan’s because of my warm, fuzzy memories there. I’ve been to Manhattan’s several times and had a lot of fun hanging out with friends. The singular best time I ever had was watching the Chicago White Sox win the world series at Manhattan’s in 2005. The bar was PACKED and we were a crowd of intoxicated, screaming, pizza-stuffed, happy campers! This is a great place to hang out after work, watch a game or drop in for a brew and a slice. My favorite thing about Manhattan’s is that they have Newcastle on tap!!! They serve decent bar food and I wouldn’t call their pizza great by Chicago standards but the atmosphere is something special. So the next time you’re looking to kill time in the loop, stop in and see what I mean.
