Mariscos Gallos

This place was pretty good. All seafood on the menu though — so make sure everyone in your party is a fan of those! Kid’s menu says they have chicken tenders, but they only have wings. The waitress was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Make sure to bring cash as they don’t accept credit card, but they do have an ATM in the restaurant.

We went in the middle of the afternoon.
Pro’s: Salsa was really spicy and good, seafood was fresh, portions are HUGE (we split one dish and left full), and they gave us a free ceviche tostada when we sat down.
Con’s: The menu is in Spanish only, so we didn’t actually know what we were ordering (we ended up asking our server to recommend a dish), it is kind of a hole in the wall, and most dishes are a little pricey ($ 18 – 25 range). They also only serve seafood.

I came with my family to this restaurant based on the positive reviews. although it’s a bit out of our way, Im always willing to travel for good food. Unfortunately, our experience does not match the raving reviews posted which leads me to believe they may not be quite that truthful.
I am not generally opposed to hole in the wall places as long as the food is good. here it was just very meh.
For starters, the orchata was soo watered down… one hit already. thats ok. food can still be redeeming…
Then we had questions on some of their plates. the waitress although very sweet. seemed clueless as to what was in it and how it was prepared. benefit of the doubt. maybe she was just fairly new…
My husband asked for the spicy stuffed pineapple, they returned with a sweet one… place was almost empty. on a weekday. hard to mix up our order…
The food lacked any real flavor and the only spiciness seemed to have come from bottled salsa…(salsa valentina) the shrimp in the camarones ala diabla were the tiny ones.o.k. Perhaps that explains the more reasonable prices for the dishes
I had high hopes for this place since we came from the North side but instead were met with sub-​par food.
Perhaps I went with too high expectations (based on the glowing reviews)…but when everyone in the group agreed it just was not worth the drive…

Its really not all its cracked up to be.

We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. The staff was fantastic and Victor came out to go over all of the specialty plates. The food was excellent. We had a party of 8 and we ordered Camarones ala Diabla and a Charola levanta muertos. The seasoning is perfect and the portions are huge. It’s BYOB so if you want cocktails, bring your own. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Great food. At first I was iffy about the place. But man oh man was proven wrong. Great food delicious fall short. I highly recommend the plate camarones sarandeados estilo gallos. The sauce they come with is real good and tasty. The staff was nice. The place is small but good enough ! Highly re come it to anyone. Oh the prices are good not like all other marisco places that want to charge you an arm and a leg to eat.

Excelente lugar. Si quieres comer bien. Aquí quedaras satisfecho. Fui en su apertura con mi familia y nos gusto todo lo que preparan recomiendo ampliamente los camarones momias deliciosos. El coctel de camarones. Empanadas de camarón. Camarón a la diabla, y una gran variedad de comida para los niños. Claro que volveremos.

Sin duda los mejores mariscos de chicago con un sazón incomparable y único te quedaras muy satisfecho lo recomiendo

The new place for seafood you must visit !!! With a BYOB you can’t go wrong… If u go I recommend the langostinos (crawfish) really good. Also the camarones sarandiados are awesome. And if your a lobster tail lover !!! They have the best stuffed lobster tail in the area… Great food and great service but most important great pricing. If you go you won’t be disappointed.
