If I could give this place one star I would, the customer service is awful. I was half-heatedly greeted. Then I was given hard, cold bread. I left the food untouched on the table and walked out.

Good fresh salad. They didn’t skimp on the dressing either. Had the shrimp basket with fries and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. I’d go back here if I happen to be in the area again.

Oh no! Apparently the Cook County Sheriff busted in the door and ordered everyone out into the street, declaring, «This Inn is closed for business.» Okee, maybe it wasn’t that dramatic, but it still happened. I can see the cold, darkened windows from my office at this moment. The day that Marquette died will forever go down in infamy.

A classic Chicago diner. Food is respectable, not unbelievable, prices are fair, and the service staff is polite and efficient if not stunning. If you’re looking for gourmet food, don’t hit a diner. If you’re looking for a solid meal at a fair price, this is somewhere in the Loop that you should check out.

Greasy spoon in the Loop. Not my cup of tea. The fries are the really generic and tasteless kind. No idea why anyone serves those anymore other than perhaps they are incredibly cheap. It shows. Had a chicken sandwich which sounded like it should have been somewhat healthy but wasn’t. Big globs of cheese. Tons of butter on the wheat bread. It tasted OK, just not for me. I see no reason to be making a return trip anytime soon.

«A touch of class» is the name of the best sandwich in the loop… it’s a croissant with a fried breaded chicken breast, cheese and bacon. Sooo bad, yet so very good. Yummy fries and bloody maries, too. Their soups are to die for.,. the chicken rice will cure what’s illin’ ya! and the green split pea is the best I’ve ever had. This is a great place for lunch in the loop if you are craving a grilled sandwich(awesome Rueben), or «breakfast for lunch», or need to add a touch of class to your boring work day.

If I’m going to pay $ 11 for lunch via fast food, it sure as hell better be good. Number 4??? What!!! this place has more than one location? Disgusting. How the hell can a chicken kabob plate not come with tsaziki sauce? or pita bread? potatoes were overcooked and the rice was bland. I was so looking forward to some Greek comfort food. I have an urge to go back and give them a piece of my mind, but I figure that sooner or later they’ll probably get shut down for something… karma, karma, karma…

I met some friends here after work yesterday. We were in the downstairs area. They have really inexpensive drinks and a free little buffet of food, if you buy at least two drinks. I had margaritas, they were your average premixed margs, with table salt on the rim, but whatever they were $ 4, so I’m not complaining. There were other really good drink specials as well. The food at the buffet was actually pretty good, well the greek chicken and potatoes anyway. They were tender and delicious. I might actually come here for a quick lunch or dinner sometime on a workday. The décor is old and outdated, the waitress was an interesting person, we were trying to give her the bill and she got snippy cuz she didn’t think we’d paid enough… she didn’t understan that we were paying with cash and credit, hence the credit care sitting there as well. She apologized for being rude, but I’m not sure that I accepted her apology. I would go here again, just because it is near all of our jobs and the drinks are cheap, but I doubt I would go out of my way to stop here.

I don’t even understand how this place is open, and how Marquette Inn has so many locations. Terrible food!

Love it for what it is: It’s a mildly dingy diner with reasonably priced, solid diner food. As an added bonus, it has a comfortably seedy bar in the basement with pah-lenty of tube style TVs. Perfect place to have lunch the first day of March Madness! The food was pretty good considering the price. I had a gyros plate for under $ 9.00. Some of the meat was a bit dry, but I suppose one always runs the risk that some time has passed since someone last ordered a gyro. I’ve heard rumors that it rocks a solid happy hour with free(?!) appetizers. Given the proximity to my office and the overwhelming amount of loop bars filled with dirtbags, I will gladly return to this establish for a solid HH. Also, they serve breakfast all day. Winner.

My friend and I were looking for a hearty breakfast to allay our appetites after going on a long run around the panoramic Chicago shoreline. We were looking for an old fashioned diner that served a sizable portions food for an affordable price(… turns out to be a common theme in most of my reviews). This place didn’t disappoint. Unassuming from the outside, this place is very large with plenty of seating on both the ground floor and basement. The staff were friendly though I don’t know what was up with the head waiter. he just couldn’t crack a smile no matter how hard we tried as he was showing us to our table. I’ll chalk that up to adding to the diner experience. I ordered a mexican omelet — filled with cheese, chorizo, green peppers and onions. Delicious, loved it. The big run that I went on afforded me the chance to indulge in this without feeling guilty of the cholesterol servings. My buddy got the pancakes with a side of sausages and scrambled eggs. I left stuffed and satisfied. The friendliness of the staff(apart from the head waiter) also left me in a good mood.

I must admit that at first I wasn’t thrilled about Marquette. A coworker gets their grilled cheese on a fairly regular basis so I tried one. To be honest, I can make better at home. The fries were pretty tasty though. Not too thin but not too thick and greasy like diner fries should be. So a few weeks ago I really wanted a reuben and the jewish place by my office only takes cash. I don’t like places like Corner Bakery for reubens, they’re much better at diners. That’s when it occurred to me that Marquette is so close. A quick glacé of the takeout menu confirmed they made reubens so I called to order one. Instead of waiting in line, I love that Marquette lets you call and do takeout orders. They always tell you«ten minutes» and the food is always ready when you get there. It’s all bagged up at the counter and you just grab it and take it to the register. How simple! So back to my reuben. It was good. Really good. So much so that I’ve had several more since. This just confirms my belief that there are certain foods than diners do much better. Reubens are one such food. And the price is pretty good too. Big hot sandwich and fries for about $ 7.50. And it seems like the quality of everything is pretty good too. Nothing tastes like it’s been sitting around for a while like sometimes happens. They also have a bar downstairs which I can’t vouch for, but they seem to have good specials sometimes. I will have to hit them up one day after work when I really need some alcohol.

I really love diner coffee — the kind that’s a little watered down. I like to drink three or four cups of it black in big gulps. Marquette No. 4 is a good place to do this. It’s got a counter. You can get two eggs and three pancakes for $ 4.75. These eggs and pancakes will be delivered to your table approximately 1.8 minutes after you order them. You can eat by yourself and read a newspaper comfortably. Dingy 80s paint job; wack mural on one wall. It’s comfortably scruffy. Dig.

Talk about nostalgia. Back in the dzay, both my mom and I used to work in the loop. Once a week we would get together for lunch at this place. It was equidistant from each of our buildings, had respectable diner fare on the cheap, and we could have cocktails with lunch. A definite triple threat. Moms normally rolled with the soup and salad. I normally went with a burger or the club. The portions here are generous and the food is solid. Not the best burger ever but good. Not the best soup ever but warm and comforting. No fancy twists or anything out of the ordinary. The service was always good and they’d get you in and quickly, if that was your goal. Mom and tended to linger a bit and they were cool with that too. Hit this place up to get your grub on for a 10 spot with tip included.

I love this place when I’m in the mood for a quick comfort dish. My friend and I go every friday for the creamy chicken and rice soup. I’ve never eaten there for dinner but its a great lunch spot. I mean, you can’t be expecting the food to be anything spectacular, which is why I gave it 5 stars! It did the job for me, and the job is to satisfy my craving for some fries, a salad… or a mere hot bowl of soup. After work on fridays can be fun. The drinks are strong and they have free munchies sitting out. They have meatballs, pizza, mini burgers, and a veggie tray to pick at as long as you order a drink. Back to the lunch thing. Sometimes hubby and I want to have a sit down lunch together, not pay an arm and a leg, and get back to work in a timely fashion. If you’re looking to do that too, Marquette Inn is the place for that.

Marquette in is near my office and we have come here for a few lunches and drinks on occasion. It reminds me of that stereotypical restaurant in a government building(because it is) where a lot of bureaucrats might hang out for lunch or after work drinks. It has a good view of Federal Plaza across the street if you are interested in watching the latest protests. Service has always been good to me and the food decent, not bad but not great. I’ll be back sometime I’m sure.

I always eat here with my mom because it’s right around the corner from her office. Nice restaurant overall — many tables(both upstairs and down), prompt and usually friendly service and always quick during the lunch hour. Typical diner food but it’s always been good. I’ve sampled a lot of the sandwiches and I love that all of the entrees(or deluxe menu options) come with soup — the soup is always delicious. I always treat this place as our go to restaurant for lunch/early dinner with my mom. The food is always good.

decent enough place. We sat downstairs and our food was served promptly. Had a greek wrap and it was tasty, so was the cole slaw. I think $ 8.45 for the wrap was a bit pricey(but I usually bring my lunch, so maybe I am just frugal).
