Great vibes! Plenty of comics and good tunes! I’m trying to help the owner get some casual Magic play going on Friday nights. If that happens this place will be boss! The chillness would be great for some cards! The owner is super nice!

Sure, Maximum Distractions is a cozy little hideaway with boxes of back issues and fresh issues on the wall. Yes, Grant is probably the coolest guy to sit behind a counter in the last dozen years. My love for the place has to do with its commitment to allowing customers to use the limited space for gaming (be it Magic: The Gathering, Hero Clicks, or D&D). Great experience.

The owner is a very nice guy and knows his stuff. He has a passion for comics and games for sure. The shop is about a block from my house so I stop by often and we shoot the shit. He carries all the books I read from Marvel and Image along with DC. He has a nice selection of games and toys. I’ve bought many a birthday gift there. The shop also has good hours noon til 8pm. Because who is really comic shopping before noon? I usually stop in with my dog and he’s cool with it so that’s a major plus. It’s local and the owner is right there. Support Portage Park and buy your comics here!

LOVE Maximum Distractions. Need a graphic novel but don’t know which to pick up? The owner, Grant, will give you great suggestions. Super friendly, lots of comics and board games to choose from, overall great shop to get gifts. So happy to have them in the neighborhood!
