I rated MidPhase with five stars, this used to be my review: Our company has been building websites for eight years. I have dealt with many different hosting companies. MidPhase is the best company hands down. The people at technical support are highly trained. We changed our Terms & Conditions and ONLY install on MidPhase servers. I am not disputing bad experiences other clients might have had with MidPhase, but from my personal experience, MidPhase ROCKS! This is my review today: Sadly, MidPhase made some changes for the worst. UK2 Group bought MidPhase and started giving less to new customers and coming up with new ideas to charge for extras that used to be standard. One used to have unlimited e-mails, now they charge for it. It has now become impossible to create e-mail addresses with addon domains for clients who add a second domain name to their existing account. The UK2 Group is now milking every customer to the last drop they can squeeze out of them. Their CHI panel is a buggy nightmare maze. I do not recommend MidPhase anymore, they used to be the top and have now become your average hosting company. I will do some research and find another hosting company and close my account at MidPhase. I will update this review once this is done.

I started as a ServerCentral/WingSix client in 1998. In 2008 they were sold to midPhase. All in all I was a client for twelve years and the last two were under midPhase — but that was two years too long. midPhase lost 11 years worth of data by keeping the back-ups on the same HDD as the live sites. They were billing me for domains that had been canceled or transferred months or years before. Then they started billing for domains 90 days before expiration and they’d change the registrant and IP information to point to UK2 Group. They’d change billing policies with no communication/notification at all. They gave me a direct number and personal rep to deal with when we had problems. Yet any time we tried to get a hold of that person or tried her extension it was a dead end — I was told once that no such person ever worked for the company. They would respond to one support email and the next email in the thread they would reply with a note that I had to identify myself — that I had to prove I had authority to access my account — before they’d respond. Sometimes they wouldn’t respond to support tickets for days or weeks. The downtime was unacceptable and their spam filters are a joke. They are arrogant, ignorant, incompetent and extort money from you any chance they can. Stay as far away from midPhase as you can!

I know what you’re thinking — webhosting companies are a dime a dozen. You go with one at random, have a bad experience and hop off like a merry-go-round to find yourself at another bad webhost, experiencing some terrible deja-vu of horrible service. At least that was my experience until I came across midPhase, a local webhosting company. I was recommended to them by word of mouth, the buzz was pretty good and I figured hosting my website locally was good for the economy. Plus, $ 95 a year for what sounded like solid hosting was a good deal so I gave them a shot, signing up online. I’m still with them, this is going on a year and a half. Their service is great but overshadowing that is their tech support. I have a problem and I know a friendly, helpful tech is not more than a call or email away. I never feel like I’m bothering them or that I’m stupid for not knowing the answer to my problem. They’re respectful, funny but overall knowledgeable about the services they’re providing. Even when they can’t help me over the phone, I know their email support will be there to help me. All the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you’re looking for a good company to host your website, I strongly recommend midPhase — they rock!
