These guys are awesome and they do great work.
Called on a Friday night to bring my Honda Accord in for a full brake job (pads and rotors for front and rear). The guy who answered the phone was extremely friendly and accommodating, immediately giving me the quote I requested over the phone and offering to stay open a few extra minutes so I could drop my car off. He promised it would be ready in the afternoon the next day, and it was.
But most importantly, the work was high quality, they didn’t try to BS me and sell me unnecessary parts/​services, and to boot, THEY DID THE JOB FOR $ 360 LESS THAN THE 5 OTHER PLACES I CALLED FOR QUOTES.

This place is fantastic. I needed my engine replaced, and I contacted three different mechanics about getting the work done. None of them could find a used engine with less miles for cheaper than I was able to find online. Then I happened to call Rob at Midwest. Not only did they do a stellar job on my car, but Rob found me a MUCH better engine with about half as many miles on it as the one I was looking at, for about the same amount of money and the same warranty. I had my car towed from Indiana, and it was WELL worth the money. They were very thorough and replaced a few other parts for me, always calling to ask me first… and had my car professionally cleaned before I came to pick it up. My van is working beautifully two months later, and I am so grateful to Midwest! Thank you guys!!!

Great customer service, and fast! No hassles to sell unneeded services and thorough explanation of the problems at hand. Ill be back when that time comes around.

This place is great. They are fast, helpful, and most importantly, changed my struts for half of what Firestone quoted, my ball bearings for ¹⁄₃ of what firestone quoted, and my tie rods for ½ o what firestone quoted (and this place used a much higher quality tie rod than firestone was going to put on!).
They also let me know that some other work Firestone had recommended was not necessary!
Would definitely recommend this place, and recommend staying far away from Firestone!

I only recently moved to Chicago in the last year. Midwest is across the street from my house. Not only have those guys done quick and hinest work on my car about 4 times now, but they even came over and helped me move my washer/​dryer into the house when I was struggling with it. I haven’t taken my car to another shop since I used them the first time, and I think they are a HUGE asset to my neighborhood. I highly recommend this shop.

I highly recommend this shop. I have been taking my car here for over 13 years and never, ever had a problem. I keep coming back. They have serve at least 5 cars that I have owned. They are honest and straight forward and that is what you are looking for in a mechanic, which is very hard to find.
Robert and Robert Jr. are the nicest people in the business that you will ever meet.

Lots of love for this place — they’ve seen me through some unreliable vehicles, and they’ve always treated me fairly. Both Robert and Robert Jr. have a lot of personal integrity and are a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended for all Logan/​Humboldt car owners.

So I was on my way with a friend to meet up with some friends in Logan Square for a trip to the Chicago History Museum. So the ride there went without incident but when I got on the off the Armitage off ramp and hit the light my car stalled out. Right away I thought it was my alternator because the car would not crank. So it was not something I could fix right away so I had to call a two truck. Searching on my iphone I found one in Logan Square so I called them and they came within 15mins to pick up the car. This was around 12:30 and the truck came around 12:45. We rode with the driver and he took the car to Midwest Automotive. Now from the outside the garage looked shady I must admit. It was not a very big garage and they only had two service bays so I was sort of wary but the tow truck driver recommend this place so I had to take him on his word.
As I walked up to the small desk they helped me right away. They asked what I thought the problem was and specifics of my car. I was worried that I would have to leave me car there for the day and pick it up later so I was already planning in my mind how we were going to get back home. So out of an off chance I asked if they could get it fixed within the hour. To my surprise he said «yes and we have an open slot». That sounded great to me and waited until they tested it to see what exactly was the problem. Turns out it was the alternator and he started calling around looking for the part. Once he found a place that had the part he added up the cost and I agreed for the work to be done. They brought the part over in 15mins and started work on the car.
After 20 or so minutes the car was done! and they drove it out of the garage and I paid the invoice. We were out of there at around 2 pm.
I could not believe the speed and the friendly service.
I don’t think I would ever find a garage that one, would take us right away, and two fix the car within 30 minutes.
So a BIG 5 stars for them and I highly recommend them if your looking for a garage in Logan Square.

I went to Midwest not sure what to expect and I have walked away very happy. The owner was very friendly and surprise they completed work ON TIME! I also didn’t walk away feeling like I got ripped off (less than $ 90 to replace/​repair an fuel filter issue).
If you’re in the Logan Square/​Humbolt Park area you should take your car here.
