My Corner Playroom

I held my daughter’s 5^th birthday party at My Corner Playroom two weeks ago and couldn’t have been more pleased.
We had 35 kids, ranging from 1 – 5 years old and it was the perfect venue. The kids had a blast, and Brooke (who works there) was more than accommodating and helpful. She didn’t want me to lift a finger.
Brooke completely organized the back room area for pizza, cake, etc. and ensured that it was smooth sailing. She was pleasant, fun and had excellent follow through.
If you do have a large party, I would suggest that you have other parents there, as Brooke was busy setting up and getting the party ready most of the time (and then cleaning up). We ended up having 10 adults or so at the party, which was plenty. The kids especially enjoyed the rice box (think sandbox without the sand but rice).
Although my eldest daughter will likely outgrow the space soon, I hope to hold my younger daughter’s parties there in the future.

I understand every parent wants the absolute very best for their child. We enrolled my son in the ‘school’ portion of my corner playroom a year ago after a recommendation from a friend. She told me not to go off of the Unilocal reviews, specifically, as they were not indicative of the type of service offered at my corner playroom. in fact, I never looked at the reviews until now. all I can say is the staff here is extremely attentive, flexible, understanding, and most of all great with kids. And truly, thats all that matters. They are very real. Which is appreciated. It’s a very interactive environment, that’s reasonably priced (compared to others in the area!). I’d challenge anyone that has enrolled a child here to say a bad thing about their kid’s development after being enrolled here! and open play is a no brainer. Its an indoor playground! It’s one of LPark’s best kept secrets for a rainy day with kids that are going bonkers ;)

Not sure if I’d come back. I called on a Tuesday to ask if it was normally crowded on Good Friday especially since its Spring Break. The person would not give an answer. She said, «we’ll it depends. And if it rains it might be less busy». Lady the question was about the holiday and Spring Break. I explained I was asking because I was going to meet a college friend and have to drive 2 hours to get there and if Good Friday is busy I’d rather come another day so that I could get a true feel for the place. I also confirmed the 10am music class. Because we really wanted to go.
Well I get there, pay my $ 15 and no music class!!! Really? Could they not have put it on Facebook like they put everything else? Don’t forget I drive two hours. Then is was like 95 degrees inside! We had to strip our boys down and they were not wearing heavy clothing. We each had on a tank and a thin blouse over and WE had to strip down as well. They propped the door open for air and although it felt a little better, thank God there weren’t runners in there. The good thing is it was pretty empty.
Ok, now for the toys. Wait, are these the toys from my nursery in 1970? Not just the brand, but the actual toys because these things were so worn and dirty it was ridiculous. By the way, I am no neat freak, but the toys were not just worn, they were battered.
The woman working there did a good job of picking up periodically because there were about 5 kids in there. BUT, do these toys get sanitized!
Yeah, won’t be back.

My kids had an amazing time and the staff was very attentive I will be back for a fun day out with the kids

Mcp is more than a daycare… Is a place to learn, play and grow… I have my 2 kids attending and we love it… This review is about the preschool program…

I was hesitant to come here based on reviews but was looking for a possible program for my daughter & thought I’d check it out.
The ladies who «work» here are kind at first meeting, but then you realize that they don’t really supervise their own children who go there. One of the workers little
girl scratched, pushed, and hit my daughter on 3 different occasions, all of which I had to intervene and the girls mother had not seen any of it. This didn’t only happen with my daughter but I noticed it with other kids as well – stealing toys, pushing. I know many of this is regular toddler behavior, but it’s nice to have a parent around to try to model proper behavior.
The toys were definitely older and didn’t seem very sanitary.
I go off first impressions, and this one did not make a good enough one.

My first experience here was pleasant. The girl on duty that day was new-​ish, I believe, and really friendly. Little man was the only child there, which was kind of awesome. I know most of the other play places are socks only, but I actually kind of like that My Corner Playroom allows shoes (except in the rice area).
The great thing about this place is that there are larger items, such as those you would put in your backyard, or a finished basement area (or your living room, if it’s gigantic and you don’t like space). Those bigger plastic structures are great for kids to climb on. Plus, there is this cute little «roller coaster» that cracks me up whenever a child is on it. On the other hand, this place definitely seems a little more worn. The mat, the toys, the fish tank. When I look at the fish tank, I’m sad because it’s really, really dirty. Sure, the fish tank isn’t a priority, but when I look around, my mood suddenly feels a little «down». On the other hand, there is a huge pillow beneath one of the slides and I think that’s great, because some of those slides really let a child pick up speed.
I came here the other day for a free event and it was just chaotic. When this place is busy, it can definitely feel small. From what I’ve heard (through the play place grapevine) is that you don’t really have to worry about this place being as crowded though. That’s a plus. Also, there are a LOT of toys. Another plus. I’m just not crazy about this place though. Would I come back? Sure… and I’d definitely prefer coming here over another place, but there are also other places I’d go to first.

We relocated to Chicago and were struggling to find the best pre-​school to send the two most important things in our lives. We investigated several pre-​schools and fell in love with my corner playroom. It has all the structure our kids need, yet balances that with the critical aspects of social development, un-​structured activities-​play, and learning through daily activities. There is nothing that makes us happier than to see our kids grow and flourish in a pre-​school they love!

I hate writing bad reviews, but I was here only once and it just didn’t seem very clean or well-​ventilated. It seemed small and close for the number of kids and the amount of stuff in here. My son enjoyed himself and the staff are very nice though. My son came down with a bug that night and I thought it was from there. I called to let them know about a week later. The owner was very kind in calling me back and talking to me, and she said no one else got sick, so it’s possible he got it at the park afterward. Although we live nearby, we haven’t returned and it’s very unlikely that we will.

2.5 stars actually, not 3 stars but a bit better than 2 stars. I initially wrote a fairly negative review for this place … It was almost exclusively based on interactions with the owner with whom others report also having many problems. So, now I also consider the physical space separate from the interaction with staff and the owners. (The owner herself, a more than grumpy person has complained about sometimes having unccoperative staff. And do not expect great customer service from either the owner of the staff.) I wrote in my initial review that however that I found the space to be decent and the pricing to be decent and overall, the birthday party we arranged was enjoyable. So bottom line decent value and decent space. Be very careful not to upset the owner or else! She threatened to sue me for slander so I withdrew my original review just to be safe. Other reviews have called her temprament Dangerous. You should read the filtered reviews (click on link at the bottom of the displayed reviews). I am not sure I would book space here again mainly due to the personality of the owner; there are other more attractive spaces with better customer service, but again, the pricing is fair and the space is good. At your own risk.

My Corner Playroom has quickly become our favorite play place. My 20 month-​old loves coming here to play with «the babies». The space is great with lots of toys and activities that easily keep her busy. We once spent 2 hrs here and didn’t even realize how quickly the time went by!
The staff are all very friendly and approachable. You can see they care about every child that comes through. The moms and dads are all equally friendly and welcoming. Everyone made an attempt to get to know me and my daughter. Now every time we go to the Playroom we feel like Norm walking into Cheers… everyone knows us and are happy to see my daughter show up to play!
Regarding the comments about toys looking worn and/​or dirty all I have to say is, what place that has multiple children playing with toys ISN’T going to look worn out? Sure you can pay $ 80/​mo to go to Gymboree 4 times a month and get squeaky clean toys OR you can pay $ 50 and take your child to Corner Playroom every day of the week all month long!
We love My Corner Playroom and will continue to enjoy all the programs and services it has to offer.

This is a nice option if you are stressed out and need to let your toddler run around and play. Perfect for rainy and/​or cold days. The downside is that a lot of the toys are very heavily used, batteries in battery operated things are not replaced, and staff is less than enthusiastic for the most part (but they are with toddlers all day that aren’t theirs so I guess I can’t really blame them). Nice idea, just wish it was better maintained, less expensive, and they had more open play hours.

I took our 2 and ½ year old here for a valentine’s day party last week and she LOVED it! She left kicking and screaming almost 4 hours later because she was having so much fun, but I had to take her home since she was over tired. We started the day with a music class which was far better than anything we’ve been to at gymboree and the teacher was very sweet. Then she played in their vast room full of toys and giant jungle gym type toys that I would never buy but am glad that she can enjoy them here. She made a valentine craft and even got face painted for a very low price when compared to other places. We live in the Pilsen/​South Loop area and I will definitely make the drive up north to this spot again! It was a hit!!! highly recommended
