Got a gel manicure here last Sunday and two of my fingers have already completely peeled off. Service was fine but very over priced. Very disappointing

Well I gave them another shot. Went in for gel as usual, for New year’s eve, and not even a week later 5 nails have PEELED. sad to say, but I wont be returning.

Finally a place that can get the job done for a reasonable price ! Made an appointment before hand (which i recommend because it is quite small in there) to put on a set of acrylics plus gels and was in and out in less that an hour and a half. Jenny did such an amazing job I will for sure be back.

So, I decided to give this place a second chance as it is right around the corner from my office and I needed to get my nails done during my lunch today. Unfortunately, the second time was just as bad as the first.
My nails look as though a 4 year old painted them. The tips of my nails are showing, the sides aren’t painted, and my one hand wasn’t allowed to dry long enough so it smudged… I got a no chip!
My first visit to this place was equally unimpressive. My no chip lasted three days before it literally just bubbled off. I would love to go in and ask for them to fix my nails but it’ll simply be a waste of time at this point.
I truly do not like giving bad reviews but the combination of the poor quality of work with the less than stellar facility and tools (my cuticle clippings were tossed on the floor right in front of me, it turned my stomach) makes this place one you should avoid at all costs.
Sorry ladies, but you should have higher standards.

My first time trying acrylics, they dried a little gloopy and uneven in shape. The experience was really rushed – I watched her buff away frantically and it was clear she was on autopilot – which I’ll admit is kind of impressive but a little more attention would have made these look perfect.
My second time, a different person worked on them and they came out perfect! No complaints here.

Worst no chip manicure that I have ever had. The polish is all over my cuticles. It looks like a 4 year old painted them. Awful manicure, below average pedicure — Save yourself $ 65 bucks and avoid this place. What a waste of time.
I think the lady’s name was Joanna.

I absolutely love this place very customer friendly, they try to help every person that walks through that door! Annie is the best she’s my go to girl, she’s absolutely great at eyebrow waxes!

Usually get my Mani/​Pedi before traveling, because of sending off our first grandchild to college, did not have time. I was looking for a convenient location near my hotel, and this nail salon was my third choice after being told there was an opening for the time frame I needed. The best ever! I am very happy I ended up here. Small, quiet salon, but cheery atmosphere and very professional service. Better than the salons I use in Brooklyn New York. Very happy with my waxing, massage, manicure and pedicure. Will just wait to be taken care of here on my return trips to Chicago.

Got a no chip that started chipping after 3 days. Literally the worst manicure I’ve ever had, I was laughing when I walked out. She pushed and pushed for me to get a pedicure and an eye brow wax when I first arrived and then told me «well then your nails won’t match your toes». The color was all over my cuticles, and on the sides of my fingers. The light they use to harden the polish, was flickering and malfunctioning the whole time so my nails never properly dried and were peeling. No thanks.

I went in for a manicure today and brought my own nail polish in for them to use. I was shocked when she added $ 5.00 additional. I wasn’t expecting to pay for a $ 27.oo manicure! Convient location and in the high rent district but I felt this was excessive. I always bring my nail polish in and NEVER have been charged extra. Beware!

I’ve been going to Tina who is at this nail salon for years. she is the absolute best. My nails always stay looking great for longer than any other salon I’ve tried and they take care of nails, feet and you leave feeling great. I moved to Michigan City recently but still come into the Loop to have nails and eye brows done here.

I’ve been coming here for about four years now (every two to three weeks). have had multiple people do my nails and I always leave happy with the results and service. Jennifer, the owner, is flexible with her schedule and always has time for my last minute appointments plus all of her staff are very pleasant to my friends and I when we drop in for a pedicure, even on a busy summer Saturday.
I love the location, and the salon is nice and quiet (but full) for the regulars who come in after work on a weekday.
Also, the staff really know how to turn ugly into beautiful. Without gel tips, my nails are so embarrassing, and Jennifer can literally turn the worst looking (broken gel tips and awful hang nails) into a beautiful set of nails that last for at least two weeks. My mom also comes here for her pedicures when she is in town, because since she saw Mary this summer, no one has been able to do a better job on her toes.
All the girls really seem to care about the job they do, it shows in their work, and that is why I just keep coming back!

I want to like this place because it’s directly across the street from my office and really reasonably priced. I went once in December during my lunch for a brow wax and it was fantastic! So I decided to go back again a few weeks ago after work and had a different woman do my wax. She burned BOTH of my eyes, which I didn’t notice until I got onto the train and thought it was hurting more than usual.
I would like to say I’d try this place again and ask for the first woman I had, but I’m not sure if I’ll risk it.

I used to live a block from here and went often.
Now that I live out of town — I still go when I am back in CHI.
Clean, friendly, consistent quality manicures/​pedicures.
Quiet clientele that do not chatter on phones.
My only complaint — just one sassy complaint: the oppressing mood music/​muzak.
Is that wrong? It does annoy the heck out of me, Just saying.

Went here as a walk-​in and got in immediately. Staff were professional and welcoming. Would definitely recommend!

I’ve been here for more than 10 times unfortunately because the location is convinient. The last time was definately my last though.
Here’s what I’ve discovered: The new girls who work there that have nothing to do with management do a great job, they work for their tips and are extremely polite and will do everyones mani/​padi in the chair (because lack of room mostly).
However, if any of the girls are buddy-​buddy with the owner, they run their own show. Even if you’re a regular, they won’t notice – they will treat you like they will never see you again and show off their attitute each and every time.
I came here a few days ago and they have a cute santa singing jingle bells OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Santa was less than a foot away from my left shoulder. After 4 times repeatedly hearing jingle bells I asked very politely for a break and to turn him off please. The lady say’s «WHY?! IT IS FUN!».
I said it would be more enjoyable if he perhaps… sang 3 songs over and over again. maybe 2? But same song on repeat. no thanks. Clearly she spoke something to a coworker in a forgein language talking smack. she made faces at me and everything like I wasnt sitting in front of her. She in fact, did that pretty much the whole time during my manicure.
The «hand massage’ that I received was a few pulls of only 2 of my fingers per hand and a smack of lotion on my arms and hands. Not to mention she threw my hands down violently. I would rather her not go through that at all and skip the «massage».needless to say I sat there with my mouth open with suprise.
The bowl she gave me to soak my fingers in was COLD with nothing else in it expect a floating black speck… what’s the point?
She then demanded me to pay before she painted my nails. I said, I’m sorry, I prefer to pay after my manicure, but I’ll make sure to sit long enough so they dry. She said «When you do manicure, you pay first – I am not fixing your nails after you scratch them!». I told her I was aware of the procedure, since I’ve been getting my nails done every two weeks at minumum for the last 7 years… but thanks for the advice.
I caved and paid… then sat there feeling stupid when she handed me off to someone else for the rest without saying a word because new customers came in. So I asked for change and never – ever in my life did I tip less than 20% changed my ways and left her absolutely zero. 18 $ for a snotty «manicure».
While the 2^nd lady was painting my nails with a neutral color, I noticed the previous ray of sunshine didn’t remove my bright pink nail polish completely and left the corners pink. I told her I felt bad if she removed it and I didn’t want her to start over. but she still removed the old color in the corners. but didn’t paint on top of it.
So I’m left with neutral polish on my fingers and nada on the corners.
Plus, last time owner did my nails, she fills the bowl with accitone and makes you sit there while your skin is soaking in it too for a no-​chip. It litterally burns off not only the no chip polish from before, but your skin also. She won’t do anything different if you ask, just make you feel dumb for even bringing it up.

Great manicure, shellac removal and redo. Looks superb, was speedy and no fuss. Definitely would recommend.

They rushed through my entire pedicure and then when she was putting my flip flops on she smudges three of nails. I noticed it immediately and requested she fix them. She said ok AFTER I pay her…
So I pay her, $ 33 for French pedicure, and then they tell me sit there and I wait for 30 minutes before someone comes over to fix my nails and they look horrible.

Went to Mary, based on other Unilocal reviews, and she is The Best. Very friendly and genuine. And does PERFECT nails even on this my very first visit (usually it takes several appts with a nail tech for me to get what I’m looking for). I will definitely be back and would highly recommend her. A++++++++++

I’m giving this salon four stars because my nails always look good — regular mani/​pedis last one week and often my shellac last 3 weeks. They have a lot of colors from Essie and OPI, and lots of shellac colors. They also do waxing (though some of the waxers are MUCH better than others — look at other reviews for that), facials and massages.
If my nails didn’t always look good, I would consider giving them a three star rating. Generally, the staff is nice and accommodating. The two women who do my nails always recognize me and chat with me. The owner, for some reason, never notices me, or acknowledges that I’ve been supporting her business for a few years.
I think the prices are higher than other nail salons in the loop. They don’t offer any specials or anything so you are spending a little more than you may at other salons.
Also, the space is small, but tidy. There really isn’t much room for a big party or more than 10 people in the whole shop. Because of the cramped space they sometimes do your manicure in the pedicure chairs. If you don’t want to wait, you should call to make an appointment.
