Tracy is a great instructor! This place is a great place to learn to be a personal trainer. I’ve become so much more knowledgeable since coming here. Now they’re in partnership with NASM, so now you get two certificate. Great school and I highly recommend coming here.

Oddly enough, the NPTI, in addition to being a school, serves as a gym for tenants of my building(Aon Center). After the unexpected and completely depressing closure of my former gym(RIP Lakeshore Athletic), I spent 3 months turning into a large blob of mush. This never sits well with me, so I decided to get off my blob and take advantage of the closest gym to me. It’s not very easy to find, located in the bowels of my very large building, and I’ll admit I took a few wrong turns more than once, but there it is. The space itself is no-nonsense. They’ve got cardio(ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, rowing), weight machines and a separate free weight room. Nothing fancy, but if you just need some equipment to keep you honest, then there you have it. I’m doing the C25K program, so all I really need is a treadmill during these Chicago winter months. The atmosphere gets a little depressing, but I’m there for a purpose. If you’re not big on atmosphere and you don’t mind students milling about, then it’s not a bad place to be. And I very much appreciate that it’s clean.

National Personal Training Institute(N.P.T.I.) They really pack the classes in tight with very little space. The class instruction is good, but with so many students you will rarely, if ever, get personal attention during the practical portions of the class i.e. form and technique in the gym. Its best to get certified through an accredited college. Most of the health and fitness establishments I interviewed with didn’t recognize N.P.T.I.‘s certification and laughed at how much I payed for the program. Did I mention N.P.T.I was very pricey? If you’re rich, bored, and are interested in physical fitness, N.P.T.I might offer some interesting classes for your own benefit. If you are seriously thinking of perusing a career as a physical fitness professional, this is not a economical nor smart option.
