They had SUCH excellent service and the turkey burger was divine!

I stopped in here for a drink; I didn’t have any of their food. The beer list is pretty good, and the bartender was friendly. I’d come back.

Great neighborhood west loop bar to meet friends for drinks. Can’t beat their happy hour specials. Food is really good too! Definitely check out new line tavern.

Best Cuban that I’ve found in the Chicago area. Near the Ogilvie train station, I try to hit it every time I’m downtown, which isn’t that often. Get a side of their New Line fries, cheese and garlic added and you’ve got yourself one of my favorite meals. Had some other stuff and it’s good, but the Cuban is my go to menu item.

By just looking at the menu, it looks like typical, average, bar food. However, the flavor of the food is really good! They do bar food and they do it well. The titles of the food don’t sound like anything special, but the favors are there when you taste it. I have been here a few times and favorites of mine are the buffalo chicken dip, the Santa Fe egg rolls, and the chipotle chicken sandwich. I have heard the tacos are good too, but have not tried them yet. The buffalo chicken dip is unlike any other I have tried. It’s delicious and not what you expect when you order buffalo chicken dip. The egg rolls are also a notch up from the same appetizer at other places. Really good! The chicken sandwich has a lot of flavor. The cocktails are good as well. The price point is very good.

Every time we visit my sister-in-law we go here for lunch. They are incredibly friendly and reasonably priced with delicious food. I got the chicken club with fries. The new line fries are delicious. You really can never go wrong here.

Great after work spot during the week and good place to come if you’re looking to avoid crowds on the weekend.

This is a good place to go if you’re tight on time or don’t want to worry about crowds. The food, service, and venue are average. It’s a reasonably friendly neighborhood spot and is worth trying at least once.

Great place for a private party in the side car room adjacent to the main bar. Elizabeth provided great service. Food and beverage reasonable. Liked the Santa Fe salad and egg rolls.

Went for lunch on a Thursday with co-workers and sat outside. The outdoor seating was nice, although the indoor décor also looked new and was decorated nicely — not too much. Got a Chipotle chicken sandwich, Caprese panini and a burger w/New Line Fries and a side of garlic aioli. The burger was great, cooked to temp, juicy, and on a great, soft pretzel bun. The LTO was fresh and crunchy. The New Line Fries were fine, the only difference between skinny fries & New Line Fries was that the new line fries had parmesan cheese on top and the skinny fries came with a tasty garlic aioli(go skinny fries just for the aioli for sure). The chicken sandwich was cooked well and also came on a yummy pretzel bun. Chipotle«glaze» more like chipotle mayo was good too and served on the side. The Caprese panini was very average. Lacked flavor and was just meh. Good service and nice outside seating. Tucked away from the bustling loop but close enough for a quick lunch. Ordered, ate, and paid in 1 hour.

Decent food and drinks. Half off Apps on Sunday. Familiar staff, usually means decent place to work.

Seriously what kind of bar is this when you are told that they cannot turn on subtitles/captions for you on tv? It’s a noisy place and sometimes when you want to follow sports you cannot hear a thing. Here is what the bartender tells me — «the owner has instructed me not to turn on captions». I came to this bar with a hard of hearing friend and they refuse to turn on captions. Well too bad, there are other places in the vicinity that are worth my money.

Cool spot! As an out of state visitor, it has a real downtown lively feel, kinda loud but not distracting. I had the cubano, so much food I couldn’t finish the fries. Good flavors with the cubano, good mix of the pickled and savory. Check this place out!

The best part about New Line is the price tag. Since New Line’s a bit outside the loop, the price drops quite substantially. Beers suddenly hover around $ 5-$ 6, appetizers are available for under $ 10. It’s a great option for some happy hour drinks for that reason. Of the apps, I really liked the buffalo chicken dip, although be warned, it is extremely hot, scolding hot. But the chicken was good and it wasn’t too full of cream cheese. I’d get it again. Also got the pretzel bread sticks that everyone else raves about. They were good, really just pretzel bread with some cheese dip(which wasn’t too great). The pretzel twist had more than just salty flavor. Overall, if you’re looking for a cheap happy hour, New Line’s a good option.

House made pretzel twists are AWESOME! The bread has some herbs in it and the crust is crisp while the center is soft. Highly recommended!

I did enjoy everything about this place. Went with co-workers for lunch, food was great, decent portions and priced right. I had a nice sized Thai salad while several of the others had burgers. The appetizers were generous for a lunch portion. I would return.

I went to New Line with a group of friends for drinks last night. The bar was not very busy. The décor and atmosphere is very basic. It is not what I would expect out of Chicago. The service was okay, but nothing to brag about. Dress casual, and don’t expect anything out of the ordinary.

I came here as part of a business lunch. Being an out-of-towner visiting CHI for the first time, this was the closest place to our office and it was a decent enough place to go. We were served promptly and waited on with the appropriate level of service. Food was very decent no complaints from me. I will keep them in mind next time I am near my office building.

Was not a fan, but it’s difficult to pinpoint why. The service was spotty and the food is just average. New Line is is in a great location next to the L. It’s a fancier bar with a long rectangular bar with eating tables in front. The bar back is beautiful. Plenty of TVs, but not a great place to catch the big game. Stamped tile ceiling is a nice touch. Probably a three star bar if I tried other food from the menu, but I’d rather walk and find another place.

I live in the neighborhood, so it’s been easy to try this place a couple times. I had a salad here and enjoyed the outdoor seating– the salad was decent. Then I came to enjoy a few pints after learning a favorite bartender now works here. The sweet potato fries and dipping sauce were excellent. The Guinness, I’m disappointed to say, was poured quite sloppily, even by the aforementioned awesome bartender. The standards for this place are clearly not the same as for his previous employer. The crowd was cool and unpretentious, which is a plus for the area, and the atmosphere suits the crowd. The layout of the place, however, sucks. When coming in for a drink and a nosh, my friend and I were seated at the line of tables parallel to the bar. We had drunkards leaning against our tables and pushing against us as other drunkards tried to go past. I’d rather not have over-processed hair and dirty coats in my beer. I’ll probably come here again because it’s close to me, but it won’t be my first choice.
