This was my fourth race of the year. I have to say that this race’s theory was the best so far. I was really excited to be apart of history in the making. 14,000 runners in 25 cities! That’s 350,000 people around the globe! Buenos Aires, Lima, Madrid, London, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Toronto, Austin, and Singapore were just a few of the cities I was running with. It was really cool! I love this course that they had us on. All along the lake front, tons of supports, and cool bands to keep us motivated. Even though this race really rocked there were a few things they need to keep in mind for next year, if Nike decides to bring it back to Chicago, which I hope. They need to have cold water, and more of it. They were serving hot water. Ick. Also have more snacks after the race. The barenaked 2 oz cups weren’t enough to keep me from wanting to puke. Also, they need to have a bigger area for people to take off their Champion Chips. Oh well – I guess I did it for the cause! Congrats to everyone who ran their hearts out! Great job!

My first 10K! It was a great experience — to my surprise I ran the whole darn thing save for the water breaks at every 1.5 miles(quite an accomplishment considering that I’m not even a year out from my 5th knee surgery in 11 years). Supposedly 14,000 runners did it with me as well. I’m not surprised by that number considering that it was a huge sea of the required red shirts. It took me about 25 minutes to get to the start line once the start gun went off, but no complaints here because they did a great job of spreading out the runners. But I’d wish they’d inform the walkers it’s not proper race ettiqutte to put themselves in the pacing block of 9 miles and to walk slowly 5 across. Gear check was really smooth — they didn’t lose my purse. Yay! However, I do have some complaints about the race — it was in the evening, so the later portion should have had more lights when it got dark. And what was the deal with the finish line? I’m sorry, but when I’m running 6.32 miles, I’d like a water and a banana or some type of nourishment at the end. I don’t care if there are 13,999 other people in the big mass as well(and I’m sure that they felt the same way as I did). If they were able to set up 3 water stations throughout the course, why couldn’t they have done that at the end? Or it’s very possible it was there, but with the lack of lights, it wasn’t to be seen. That being said, I’d do this race again. Who doesn’t like to torture themselves for an hour plus some for a shiny medal at the end? Shiny…

Ok, so today is the day for the HumanRace, its 10K, at Soldier Field. The Race is for 3 major charities: 1. Lance Armstrong foundation — Live Strong 2. 3. WWF — no thats not the wrestling foundation before you ask! There are going to be an estimated 14,000+ people running today(yeah I know how many???), it’s 10K, so from what I can estimate that’s around 6.2 miles… Anyways, after getting there, and being«where’s wally» as there were just so many red shirts it was tough to find anyone you knew… it was really exciting. This is how it works… you pay $ 35 and for that, you get: 1.Nike Dri-fit Shirt(worth $ 35) 2.Nike Dri-fit cap(worth $ 15) iTunes treadmill workout(worth $ 15) 4.A bag full of goodies — so power bars, granola packs, and some coupons for drinks) 5.Leaving the best till last… FOB concert tickets(which was the shirt) at soldier field. Thats Fall Out Boy tickets, not Fresh of the boat concert tickets before you ask! So all in all, not bad at all, also if you were lucky enough to be able to sign up your friends closer towards the date, you might have been given a code so 50% discount on everything, so yeah it was a great deal, especially for the concert tickets. After finding out some of the race times, from around the World, I just wanted to finish before the hour marker… and yep, I managed it! :p The fastest times were something like 30 something minutes, which is just crazy… people are just proving how fit they really are. The fall out boy concert was just outstanding, we even managed to get pretty close to the stage! it was just amazing. it was great to see people drinking, eating, and dancing in the middle of the field. I suggest next time that this is a great event and all should do it, there were even mothers pushing prams so no-one has an excuse! The pictures are attached!

First of all, I like to say I hate long distance running. I would rather play 4 hours of basketball than run 1 mile. However, Amish signed me up 5 days before the race because he found me a promo code and had an offer I couldn’t refuse. For $ 17.50 I got a dri-fit shirt, a nike cap, $ 15 worth of Ipod music, powerbar, free drink voucher for starbucks, and concert admission to Fall Out Boy! This was my first race ever and I don’t think I ever ran 10K in my life. I’m just glad that there weren’t any walking grannys that passed me. However, I was told there was a woman with a huge yellow purse and a woman that pushed a stroller with 2 babies that crossed the line before I did. I’m gonna just protect my man pride and make myself feel better by saying they never passed me from behind. We even have footage of a 12 y/o puking a few yards before the finish line. I thought it was great to participate in such a global event. Thanks Amish, another thing I can add to life experiences.
