Been here close to an hour and still waiting for the food. With such a limited menu one would expect that it would come out in less then an hour. Wasn’t a huge fan to begin with, but now even with Old Town Social being on my block, I’ll walk the extra block to go just about anywhere else. On the upside, I’ve had desert here before and they have pretty good bingets.

Whatever you want, they probably don’t have it. Multiple things we ordered they didn’t have and the waitress didn’t even know what the other options were. My water glass NEVER got filled. The entrees were expensive, not big at all and al la carte so you buy a $ 14 burger and then pay another $ 5 for fries. Service was fair and the ambiance is nice, a little loud. This place is just not cool, end of story. Foodies beware this place looks like they have a good menu but in reality they don’t actually have food.

This place was pretty bad. Came here for cocktails with friends and was sorely disappointed. A couple people ordered the same drink and said it tasted like vomit. Didn’t believe them so tasted it, and oh my god, it was vomitous… wish I remembered what it was. Waitress took forever to take our check and didn’t even comment that there were 3 full drinks when we were leaving. How can a place offer something so terrible tasting on their menu?

I came here for brunch with some friends on Sunday. I have never been here before but I heard a mix of things about this place. My friend claimed they had the best bloody marys. I love bloody marys and never turn one down. We sat down on this weird couch with a table it was kinda cool but also a bit uncomfortable. It was more of a like a coffee table set up. //bloody mary — dont recall the price — The bloody mary has almost too much crap on top of it. I reallllyyy liked the pickled okra. It was so tasty and I love okra. The bloody could have been a bit thicker but the flavor was there. I dont like the massive amount of cheese they put on top of the bloody. //chicken and waffles — 14 $ –I split this with a friend. it wasn’t that large. It was just okay. The waffle was not as crispy as I like it and same goes for the chicken. The butter and maple syrup did taste good on it but I feel like if you are gonna pull of this dish, you gotta do a way better job with it. //old town breakfast — 10 $ — My friend got this, it was pretty decent. I tried the potatoes casserole, it was pretty good. The sausage was decent but nothing to rave about. //Sweet potatoes fries — 5 $ — the fries were better but the avocado dip was really weird. it was a bit sour almost. I did not really like it. all in all, this place is good for a Sunday Funday where all you wanna do is continue drinking from saturday night [you lush but I definitely encourage this behavior], but I wouldn’t go back for the food. It was just average and pretty highly priced for the smaller portions.

Beautiful interior, and okay/good food. However… We met up here with some friends, and the music was so loud we could barely hear each other speak. The entrées are overpriced and under portioned. They have high chairs, but are not super kid friendly(we have a 15 month old). As a side note, I’m from Seattle, and was super excited for the aoli. I love aolis. Not this one. It tasted like mayonnaise from a jar. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I fell victim to one of those Buzzfeed-esque«20 sandwiches to eat in Chicago» articles, and the pork belly Reuben got a mention, so I packed my parents in the car and drove over. Pork belly has a magnet effect on my heart. And it was … fine. The bread got a little soggy and all I could really taste was the sauerkraut. My aunt hated her turkey sandwich(that’s on her; who orders a turkey sandwich?). My mom liked the fried chicken sandwich. My stepfather enjoyed the beef bourgignon, which was a special. Here’s the thing though: BUYMOREDISHES, RESTAURANTS! If the alternative is to come up to people two seconds after they’ve finished their meal, then just bite the bullet, go on or whatever, and stop reaching for my plate when I still have food there and other people are eating. If I have to stop chewing to answer when you ask if it’s ok to take my plate, you’re doing it wrong. The busboy entered my mom’s personal space to squeeze a glass past her shoulder. Are you that hard up for glassware? It’s weird and unsettling and just stop.

I think my hopes for Old Town Social were too high. I had made a 9:15 Sunday night reservation for after a Second City show. This was the last night of my family’s visit to Chicago and we were hoping for a memorable meal to cap off the trip. Instead we ended up waiting a REALLY long time for our food in an otherwise empty restaurant. From beginning to end, the service was just sooo slow. From drinks to food to the check to extra utensils we were continually having to flag down our server to ask for things. Maybe it was the fact that it was late on a Sunday night and really empty so some of the staff had been sent home, who knows. Anyway, once the food finally came it was decent enough… Our party got the fried pickles to start, some burgers, some salads, some grilled cheeses with tomato soup. I didn’t hear anyone complain. And we at least got to watch the Panthers beat the Eagles – this is a great spot for sports. Because the food was good. I am willing to hope this was just an off night and try again!

I was invited to old town social to host a Friday happy hour for some friends and we had a great time! The environment was fun and the room they put us in still allowed us to hear the music, but also not too loud where we couldn’t catch up. The prices here are reasonable to begin with, but our happy hour package came with even more discounted deals…$ 5 cocktails, drafts, and wine. Also we got a free appetizer for ever two people that came. Like I said though even without the specials we received the price would of still been reasonable. As for the food my favorite would have to be the Mac and Cheese. I could of used another one of those! The Goat Cheese Cheesecake was also pretty good. In the main dining area there are plenty of tvs to watch the game. This place is pretty big. I will be back in the future. I had a great time!

Not to bad of a place for a first time. The room is dark but has nice comfy sofa’s by the large windows. We felt secluded in our nice little nook area so that I could catch up with friends. We ordered a few drinks, mine in particular was the Tiki as I’m not trying to give up on summer yet. The drink was pretty refreshing. My friend ordered a Hemingway which I particularly didn’t care for as it had a weird after taste. We also ordered a plate of cheeses, Triple Crème Brie & the Smoked Marisa which was my favorite. The room is very spacious and good to bring for first dates. It seems that everyone in there was on a first date. There were lots of people at the bar cheering for their sport since there were several TV’s blaring different games. I want to come back and taste some of their brunch items. Bookmarked for sure.

Came here for brunch once. My server was super polite and the fireplace was a nice touch on a chilly November day. There’s a sports bar in the back but the front room, which was pretty classy, had no bar overtones– it was odd to see such contrast, but it works really well. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and the three cheese mac and cheese. I’m a connoisseur of mac and cheese, and that was amazing, The cheese had a great consistency and the cavatappi pasta was a good choice. The biscuit sandwich, on the other hand, was just okay. It looked out of this world when it came to me, but it was bland. The disappointing thing was that it was such a good biscuit and quality bacon, but the egg wasn’t seasoned. That being said, I’m definitely going to try this place again– the service and that mac and cheese definitely require that I give this place the benefit of the doubt.

This is my kind of place. If you like to graze you will love it too. I know it’s supposed to be a sports bar but to me it doesn’t have the vibe. Lovely interior and I want to know who decorated the place, it’s awesome! If you like charcuterie, exotic cheeses, deviled eggs, etc. you will be in heaven. Their Belgain frites are decadent strips of perfectly fried potatoes with sea salt and when dipped in the garlic aioli they are heavenly. Screw the fat and calories, I am in heaven. Great spot for brunch too. Yep, I could easily eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here every single day and be a fat and happy camper. Others have mentioned issues with slow service. I’ve been here three times and never had an issue. I’ve never been with a large group so perhaps they struggle with that. I love this place.

Service was BADDDD. Clueless, slow, and even rude at times. We were a large group as well, so this is rather inexcusable. I ordered the fried cheese curds. Meh. I’m giving it two stars because I have hope for this place. I had heard decent things before having been, and I am willing to give it one more try.

No no no. I came here tonight and the waitress was so unattentive. 6 people — no water for 30 minutes? Then we get our duck wings — was burned(also expect to pay $ 12 for 3 pieces … burned pieces). I like the vibe but we weren’t treated very well and we had to wait a long time for our food and ask explicitly for the water. The waitstaff said a manager would come over but no one arrived. It was disappointing too because it was a birthday celebration and it just put a damper to the evening.

My first visit to Old Town Social was on Kentucky Derby day. I do like the space, plentiful televisions, nice décor, not too crowded(well some parts were quite crowded while others, not so much. Interesting). They also have a little outdoor patio area for the warmer days. The food: I ordered a shrimp po’boy and it was tasty. It’s no New Orleans po’boy, but no regrets. Tip: if you find yourself torn between the regular fries and the sweet potato fries, go for the sweet potato. They’re crispier. Drinks: It was Derby day so keeping with tradition, I ordered a mint julep. Or rather, I ordered a copper mug of minty ice that may have had liquid at the bottom. The Pesco mule is yummy, though not as strong as I think a drink of that price should be. I eventually made my way to beer was much happier. Music: They had a DJ for a while who was awesome, he was in touch with my inner 90’s child. Then he left and the music sort of nose dived. Service: The waitress was cool enough, I had no issues with my order and I don’t think the wait was that long. I was, however, a little perplexed that we had this table full of empty plates and glasses that kept piling… and piling… aaaaand piling… until we eventually cleared them from our table ourselves. All in all, while I don’t think I’d go out with the goal of coming to Old Town Social, if I happened to be in the vicinity, sure I’d come back.

It’s an ok place to go, but I don’t prefer stopping here if I can avoid it. The good stuff: –They have pretty good food in my opinion –The service is nice –The décor is nice The lousy stuff: –The drinks aren’t my thing, the old fashioned has so much ice in it it tastes like someone poured water in it(They didn’t, but don’t fill the glass with 30 cubes). –It’s in the middle of nowhere for old town in general. The only thing close to it is in the Sedgwick stop so it is kind of annoying to get to/from if you are out. –It gets really packed on Friday/Saturday so it is uncomfortable or you have to wait forever to sit around. While I don’t dislike it I certainly don’t make an effort to come here.

Loved the vibe of Old Town Social and liked the food. Our server was wearing a jumper which is pretty cool and had her hair so high up on her head that when she looked down to write our order down it all flipped into her face. Much like our server, I think Old Town Social has a bit of an identity crisis — part lounge, part sports bar, part fancy burger restaurant, part casual eatery. But that may be what they are going for. Drinkz. One of my favorite things at Old Town Social is that they offer flights of their beers on draft! Suh weet! 3 beer tastings for $ 10. Me likey. They don’t keep their beer menu on completely up to date which is a bit disappointing when you go in planning on having one beer and have to settle for another. My favorite beer I tried the evening I went was 3 Sheeps Nimble Lips Noble Tongue #6 — Bahhhhhhdass. Additionally they do flights of scotch, whiskey and bourbon. Eatz. The deviled eggs come 6 in an order for $ 6. 2 each of the ‘normal’ deviled eggs, 2 spicy deviled eggs and 2 sesame curry eggs. Frites in a fancy cone with house made ketchup & mayo for $ 5. I liked the fries but they weren’t necessarily anything special. I have to say though it seemed like a huge order and great deal for the price. I also liked that they provided mayo, wootwoot! OTS Burger comes with sunnyside up organic egg, housemade bacon, gruyère for $ 13. Nothing on the side for that price, mind you. I really enjoyed this burger. Though I asked for the burger medium and I reckon it was done medium well. Ah well. It tasted good to me all the same! Old Town Social feels very Mad Men-esque to me with various shapes, sizes & colors of furniture throughout but the TVs ruined it for me playing sports with no one watching. Overall though, loved the options at OTS, prices aren’t horrific and food is good.

Well I liked it. And it wasn’t just because our server, whose name I can’t remember was so nice, smart, sweet, incredibly cute or that she was spot on about how good the tartar sauce was for the fish and chips. No I liked it, or should I say also liked it because the menu was current and on trend, food hot and tasty, drinks good, through the beer seemed expensive, service great and the place had a good buzz and inviting vibe. I felt was a little more of a mature crowd not necessarily in age but in character. We sat by the fireplace in the«parlor room» which is a charming space where we could sit and talk comfortably and still hear the music and peek at the game du jour if need be. The chicken wings were hot.. but so tasty with their house made sauce and dip. The Fish and Chips special very good, lightly battered with fish that was not greasy or oily. The fries were well seasoned. Word has it they do a mean Cubano so I’ll be back!

Went here for Valentines Day and was sadly disappointed. We arrived for our reservation around 8:30p and were promptly seated. We ordered drinks, a vodka soda and a less-than-stellar Manhattan. To start, we ordered the pretzel bites which were actually amazing. Complete with beer cheese and stone ground mustard dipping sauces. We also went with the cheese curds which were equally awesome. Everything went quickly downhill from there. My BF ordered the burger and fries, which arrived barely warm. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup which was cold as well. I asked them to bring out some hot soup, but it’s clear that they just reheated what they brought to me originally. At this point our server disappeared, which allowed plates to pile up. My BF ordered a second drink when she finally returned, hoping it would be better. No such luck. Overall this was just an unfortunate experience. Seems like a better place to have a few drinks at the bar, and not plan on dinner as well.

Not a fan. I’ve come here a few times and every time I’ve come there was at least one problem that was glaringly obvious. The first time I came here I enjoyed the vibe, drinks, and coziness of the bar… But it was, no joke, at least 85 degrees in this bar. It was a hot day, but they are either not working with a proper AC or were not prepared for how hot it was going to be. Everyone in this place was roasting. Secondly, the table service was slower than molasses and a drink my cousin ordered never came. Bought a round for some friends and one of my pals ordered scotch, neat. Didn’t ask for anything special, but the bill came and it was top shelf scotch. I know that’s a classic scheme from a bartender, but to choose one of the top shelves without even pointing to it on the menu is cold. Again, table service was extremely slow. Now to end on a good note. There was one bartender I met there who was extremely helpful. The bar itself is cool and the vibe it brings is young and fun. Watch out for your $$$ and don’t expect great service(with the exception of a bearded bartender)
