The Italian food outside of Italy can hardly be called authentic at all. But Ferrara is amazing – I had tiramisu and chocolate flan last time, and it was just as I’d tasted in Europe. I feel lucky to live close to the bakery!

Highly recommend! We ordered their classic cake and everyone at the party asked where we got the cake because it’s delicious!!!

One delicious bakery. Simply put: there’s something for everyone and prices are very reasonable. Customer service is great, too.

We googled best cannolis in town and we ended up here. It’s close to my condo and right off of taylor street so we stopped by for lunch. We got 2 sandwiches the Signature and the chicken. The spicy chicken sandwich was great the panini had a nice color and the peppers were delicious. The signature was kinda on the dry side. It reminded me of a dry version of a jimmy john’s sandwich. The cannoli was good but had way too much cinnamon and lacked the chocolate chips. We also tried their Napoleon and it had the one day old kinda taste to it. It wasn’t crispy but soggy.

Fresh, authentic, delicious. Need I say more? Ferraras is such a hidden gem. Prices are great, ranging $ 5 – 7 for a sandwich/salad/lunch entrée. I love the meatball sandwich and Ferrara Original. Keep meaning to try the lasagna plate one of these days. And then there’s desserts… tasty cannoli, cookies, tiramisu, cheesecake, etc. What more could you ask for?! If you live in Chicago(or even if you don’t) and you haven’t checked out this great Italian fare, you’re missing out!

This place needs no more reviews. They are probably all 4 – 5 star. I live right next to the place, that walking by I can smell almonds and sugar in the air usually every day and can see the many customers eating in and taking out. a regular customer, they know my order my heart. A nice feeling in an anonymous kinda time. good prices, good selection.

Love this bakery, it’s a true taste of the old Taylor St., although most of Taylor has been transformed. I love the aroma as soon as I step in. They do most of their menu items consistently very well. So well that I consistently leave here with a big bag. They have the best Italian sweet selection in the city. The service here is always welcoming and helpful to those not sure of what to buy. I have been coming here for most of my life, and will continue to do so.

Family owned since 1908! I make a point to ALWAYS stop by before heading back home to pick up Italian cookies and pastries. Having spent a lot of my childhood in Little Italy-NYC I may be a bit fussy when it comes to Italian sweets and this place NEVER disappoints! The absolute BEST Sfogliatella in the Midwest, now I just need to create a reason to order a cannoli cake

I’ve been to this place a few times and what I always go back for is their cappuccinos and the sfogliatella. I get the cappuccinos made with whole milk(as one should always do). They’re always really good and have the perfect amount of foam. The sfogliatella is sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. They have an excellent texture and a hint of orange zest, which gives them a unique taste. As for their cannolis, I don’t find them particularly great. The shells are better than the cream, which always tastes a little off to me for some reason. Overall, Ferrara is a good place with an interesting history and is nicely located. Definitely worth going to.

Original Ferrara Bakery is one of my favorite bakery store in Chicago. It is a hole in the wall as you drive by Taylor street, BUT you gotta try it! And believe me, one you did, you will be hooked! Their tiramisu is soo good, it makes you dreaaam about it. They cannoli is oooooh delish! Even when I am writing this review, my mouth is drooling thinking about their tiramisu and cannoli!

I absolutely love this place. What a gem! Came in this late afternoon for a sugar fix and came out with way more than I can chew! The staff is amazing, every one of my visits is always such a great experience. Today my boyfriend and I came in for gummy worms and ended up getting chocolate chip cookies, pizza slices, and cannolis! This particular visit, we were greeted immediately by a very nice(handsome) man who ended up giving me 2 free slices of the spinach pizza with the 2 slices I already picked up!!! That just goes to show how amazing the staff is, real personable too, totally adds to the bakery’s at home atmosphere. Can’t get any better than that! The baked goods /desserts are nothing short of perfection! The candy display always makes me feel like a kid. I love the selection and always leave wishing I ordered more!!! They have a full menu equipped to fill your hearts Italian desire! Oh and I have to mention that my very first cannoli was from this bakery and I’m totally hooked for life! This is a local neighborhood business that my Boyfriend and I will continue to support. The kindness of the store doesn’t go unnoticed. Thanks!

We went here to get some slices of cake for my birthday and some cannolis. Decided to get some lunch while we were there. The Italian beef sandwiches are tasty enough, but we loved their cannolis the best. If you want some authentic cannolis this place definitely has them(according to my girlfriend, I never had them before myself). They also sell a lot of candy. We didn’t buy any of that though.

Went out in search of authentic Italian pastries and lunch and we were satisfied leaving! Their Caesar salad was big and delicious! The girl taking my order was very nice ! The décor is very authentic and you can tell this business is family Owned. I got a very unique cake that was amazing. It’s a pound cake with cannoli cream as filling. Also got 6 cannolis to go! Everything tastes amazing ! This is my go to place in Chicago for pastries! Thanks Ferrara!

We wanted an authentic cannoli and éclair and oh boy did we get them! The sweets and treats are delicious! The cannolis are enormous and they are very liberal with the filling which is fantastic! The éclair was enormous too and an absolute treat! I can’t wait to go back and try some other sweets! My only concern was the area… It’s literally 2 blocks away from juvie. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the food in this gem of a bakery!

A chicago institution! I think this maybe affiliated with Ferrara Pan Candy located in Forest Park. I think both were started by the same family but I could be wrong. Who cares? This is a great little place. I’m not much of a sweet girl so this place for me is all about the sammies, focaccia and pizza. You cannot go wrong with any of these! Trust me, my middle name should be bread… or yeast… or gluten. Whatever! I adore anything this place creates with a bread base. I know it’s a bakery but they really are a legit place for lunch. Ya, the service is often surly and slow but I still think their food makes up for it.

I come here for lunch weekly and always order the summer salad with double chicken. Everything I have had here is good but small space and always crowded.

I didn’t have great luck with baked goods here, so this time I stuck with a solid sandwich. I went with the Tuscan chicken and the hubs had the grilled chicken sandwiches. Both were simple sandwiches with solid, fresh ingredients tucked inside amazing Italian bread. The kind that has that classic crusty crust, a soft inside and a slight meaty chew to it. Best.Bread.Ever. The sandwiches were not large like a Subway sub but the portion was just right for me. Only downer was they are pretty pricey for what you actually get, less than 6″ and not very large girth for over $ 7 after tax. Overall, it’s a nice lunch option if your in the Tri-Taylor area.

Came here to try out some bakery items. I had the tiramisu. It wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it was okay. Cannoli has peanuts and not pistachios like other have stated, but I wasn’t really a fan of it. My sister didn’t care for the strawberry shortcake. She said it tasted like cheap cake and overly sweet. Sorry, but doubt I’ll be back.
