As always this particular location doesn’t disappoint. I was craving pizza so I called and placed an order for their medium 1 topping pizza for $ 8(carryout). The kitchen was backed up but that was explained to me when I placed the order.

I ordered breadsticks and wings from this location last night at around 9 pm. I woke up at 6 am with severe stomach cramps, diaherria, and vomiting. All the food I had eaten last night stayed in my stomach undigested for 9 hours, disgusting. I called the branch today to get a refund since the food made me violently ill. I explained to the store manager what had happened and she said they could issue me a refund but could not accept blame for food poisoning. The manager retorted«food poisoning can contract in 48 hours.» Which makes no sense, individuals contract diseases and not the opposite way around. I thanked her for the info but informed her she is not a medical professional and does not have the education to give out any medical information or advice. I’m not a lawyer, just a customer who wants a refund from a store that clearly is not concerned that there is a strong chance their employees are cross-contaminating foods. I have worked at restaurants where chefs have been let go for being suspected of starting salmonella outbreaks… I guess businesses can’t have it both ways: don’t complain about Unilocal reviewers«unfairly judging» you by leaving a review before contacting the business, but when I do contact the business I receive zero customer service, no apology, and have my concerns invalidated. No wonder most chains don’t last in Chicago.

I didn’t have the best experience the first time I ordered but that was in big part my fault not realizing my door buzzer didn’t work. This store more than made up for it by giving me a free pizza and giving great service, delivery and carry out ever since. And the pizza is always fantastic.

Haven’t had papa johns in a while so thought we would check out one of their deals. Delivery took over 1−½ hours, only to receive cold, dried out pizzas. They were just awful! Our two year old who loves pizza said«yucky». Back in the day, it was alright for a cheap pizza. Perhaps it was the location. Would never order again. Live and learn!

The customer service and food is awesome. I’ve only encountered one slight problem there out of all the times I ordered from them, but the manager compensated me for the issue immediately. I will continue ordering from them as long as I live in the area.

Good prices, quick service and tasty mid range pizza. You cant always have the best of the best and this place has a great product value for a quick experience. Take out and delivery, always ask about specials up front… and add jalapeños! !

I was almost afraid to order from here because of the reviews, but the pizza was just your typical papa john’s. not sure what everyone’s complaining about. sure, the employees didn’t do backflips when we entered the building to pick up our order, but they were friendly enough. these people are probably getting paid minimum wage to make your $ 5 pizzas. cut them some slack.

Run-of-the-mill chain pizza joint. Nothing out of the ordinary. Service is usually good, but have had a few orders messed up. Pretty pricey if you don’t stick to specials. I recommend the John’s Favorite pizza and cinna-pie.

This is a review for delivery only as I am very lazy and have never actually been inside the restaurant. I always place my order online and have never had a problem with an incorrect order. Only twice have I waited more than an hour for my pizza and both times they were apologetic and gave me a coupon for a free pizza for next time. What more can you ask for? The delivery guys are friendly. All in all, I very much like this Papa Johns location.

We tried to order a heart-shaped pizza from this location for delivery and over 3 hours later we are still waiting for our replacement pizza for one that was delivered 2 hours late. I would not recommend this location.

No. Never again. Screw this Tea Party jerk and his crappy pizza. I went in here last week, hungry and a little curious about their pizza — but hesitant because of the owner/founder’s bad attitude about how employees should be compensated. I figured I had to give it a try to maintain a shred of objectivity. Well, I didn’t. The pizza flat out blows. My toppings were black olives, jalapenos and Canadian bacon. Which should be delicious. Canadian bacon should be yummy slices of flavorful meat, not a half dozen or so tiny diced pieces. The crust. CARDBOARD. Did not hold up to the«morning after cold pizza breakfast» routine. I even hesitated before giving the crusts to my dog(this is our routine), but I did, ‘cos she’s a dog. They included garlic dipping sauce with the pizza. That’s apparently gratis. That made bad pizza even worse. Seriously, WTF is this crap? Warm, gooey, white sauce. .. ummmm. .. well, I hope it’s a food product, but it really reminded me of someone with a bad diet. .. wait, I digress. I don’t put that on pizza. I don’t want to come in contact with that garlic dipping sauce ever again. I’ll never go back here for the pizza, and I’m sad that they are occupying this storefront. How this place stays in business when there is so much wonderful pizza in Chicago, nay, in a 6 – 7 block radius of this area. Go to Apart on Broadway, their pizza is spectacular. FIVESTARSFORTHEPEOPLEWORKINGHERE. I do have to mention them, this review is NOT about the workers. They are friendly, nice and polite. The woman at the counter set me up with a special, which I was very grateful for. My pizza was ready quickly. Very efficient. I don’t know how this guy gets good people, but I hope they all find jobs somewhere ELSE and get treated better than this place treats their workers. Go out of business already, and get something GOOD in this spot!

The customer service at this location sucks, but it doesn’t matter. On the plus side, the pizza is not on the level of the best Chicago has to offer, but for its weight class(Pizza Hut, Domino’s, frozen from the store), it’s pretty good. I’m always getting coupons in my e-mail from them, so I’m able to get a good deal pretty much any time. And they haven’t messed up any order I’ve placed yet or been late with having my order ready(I normally pick up my orders). Other commenters have mentioned it, and I’d like to repeat — the customer service at this store is terrible. Granted, it’s a quick interaction — they take my money, I take their food. But even in that 1 – 5 minute exchange, I’ve yet to receive a «Hello!,» a «Thank you!,» or even have the person working the register make eye contact. And there’s always 2 – 3 employees in the place just… hanging out. That being said, the store looks clean and they get the product out on time, so what do I care? Bottom line, this is a nice neighborhood option for a quick, cheap pizza fix.

If our lives depended on them actually putting buffalo sauce on their«Buffalo Chicken Pizza» we’d be dead. I’m not sure why they can’t get it right. I only order Papa Johns when they have this pizza running and 95% of the time they forget the sauce and deliver me a chicken pizza with cheese. I call them and they offer to bring sauce. That’s not good enough– I don’t want to wait for you to deliver«sauce» I don’t want to dunk my pizza in hot sauce I want it swirled nicely like everyone else that lives outside their delivery area is getting. Three stars because the delivery guys are super nice.

I was out late one night at the bar across the street. I am not one to order pizza late night because I love excellent pizza, not chain stuff, but on this particular night, I knew that beggar’s can’t be choosers. It was done pretty quickly, and it was pretty much what I expected.

Don’t judge my stars based on the debate about chain vs. local Chicago pizza. This is purely based on cheap, fast, and guaranteed fresh pizza every time I order. Sure I like the homegrown Chicago pizza, but honestly, as a grad student, I cannot afford to drop a lot a money on a quick meal to last me a few days when I’m neck-deep in papers. So it’s either Domino’s or Papa John’s for me. Papa John’s is always running specials and online they have a new point system so every time you place an order(not sure of the min. amount required) you’ll earn 5 points toward a 25pt free pizza… Cheap pizza earns me free pizza?! Ahhhh yeah! That’s a no brainer! Plus I get emails all the time about specials, so for instance… place a min. $ 15 order and get 25 free points(FREEPIZZA!) Sorry Domino’s, Papa John’s wins this round… As for the store itself… never been to the location, but the drivers have always been friendly and prompt. I’ve never had a problem or a bad pizza.

We were bar hopping Andersonville and found ourselves at Kanak grill close to last call. The kitchen had already closed and we were starving for a last bite. I was scanning the area for late night grub and PJ’s popped up as being open. From the Unilocal page I checked out their menu but could not place an order online for some reason.(I guess they don’t like fake addresses.) I found an awesome carry out special for about five and half dollars. I called & placed my order. Thirty minutes later we were sitting on the street a few feet from their doorstep enjoying a hot & warm, pizza pie.(Note: It’s quiet at 2 am on a Friday on that stretch of Broadway, you can hear a lot of odd sounds coming from the grocery next door) The pie came with garlic butter dipping sauce which(I’m not particularly fond of) so we switched it out for blue cheese and purchased a cup of another tasty sauce. The pie was good, ordering was a cinch and the price was great. No complaints only smiles. P. s. Another review complains about being outside of the delivery range. I’ve had that happen in the past and what I like to do is ask what’s the furthest they can take it. If it’s only a block away, I’d walk the block and pick it up on the corner. Most times, they will try to accommodate.

When I was in grad school, I loved me some Papa John’s Pizza. It was cheaper for me to order one of their pies, then to cook at home. When they moved to my neighbourhood, I was jazzed because a)they filled a vacant store front b)i like pizza c)it was pretty close to my house, so I could have it delivered d)i felt like reliving my college days So, I ordered a pie online. Which is cool that you can do that. I love the internets. I’m so glad Al Gore invented them. The pizza arrived about 20 minutes after I ordered it. I was happy about that. I was surprised, and had to answer the door with my tie undone, as I wasn’t expecting it so quickly. I hope the delivery man wasn’t upset. I took a bite, and was immediately transported back to my carefree grad school days. Then I noticed the garlic dipping sauce. I didn’t remember that, so I tried it. And I for real puked. It was the grossest thing I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. I actually had to brush my teeth and gargle with that blue listerine stuff. Though it was Walgreens brand, because I am fiscally minded. The sign at Walgreens was all«Try Our Brand, its almost the same», and I just was like«Super, thats great». The moral of this story is, the pizza is nice, but the garlic dipping sauce tastes like the inside of a teen aged boys sneaker smells like. Someday when I am feeling nostalgic again, I will order one of their pies. They are inexpensive, and filling. Given the HUGE choice of other pizza shops around me, I’ll probably call one of them first. In the end, I’m glad we have more new business in Edgewater.
