Great downtown location. Competent and friendly service. Hair products are amazingly effective and easy to use. I wish the products were for sale online. If they are, I couldn’t find a way to order them.

I’ve always been the absolute worst at haircuts. I don’t know what I like, I never remember to book an appointment until my hair is all scraggly, and I’m never quite happy with the result. My experience with Paul completely changed all of that. Well, at least the last part. I’m still terrible at knowing what I like and remembering to make appointments, but it doesn’t really matter; Paul has me and my weird hair all figured out and his cuts are so great that I can go an extra month without a haircut and it doesn’t really matter. And for a shorter haircut, that’s really saying something. Oh, and yes, his cuts do take longer than your average salon so I’d be sure to factor in enough time. In my mind, spending an extra hour in the salon is way worth it. For the same price as cuts elsewhere, you get phenomenal service from someone who really cares about making you look your best. Paul takes his time and it shows; people complement my cut all the time and I tell them to go to Paul Chambers. I mean it. Do it. He’s the best.

Great last minute service on a 48-hour business trip! Mr Paul Chambers has a gift for communicating w a new client. I am on an extended trip far away from my usual stylist, so I get the fun and fear of trusting new salons. Paul is quick witted, fun and most of all able to explore choices and understand preferences. My hair cut is fresh and fashionable, young and light. I wish I lived in Chicago to become a regular customer. Lil from Austin TX.

I am here in Chicago for a convention for the weekend and heard of Paul Chambers Salon and came without appoint. Even though they were busy he made the effort to squeezed me in and he and his wife Mitzi gave me an excellent service. Love the products they used, the way the served, and most importantly my hair do! Thumbs ups for Paul Chambers Salon! Vanessa

Wendy Chambers is the best stylist in all of Chicago. After two years of visiting various salons, I have finally found a salon that exceeds my high standards. Wendy Chambers is professional, friendly, and gives an amazing shampoo, blow out, and flat iron. The salon is clean and in a wonderful location just off Michigan Avenue. The salon also offers online booking. They now have a customer for life! Additionally, I was pleased to see all ethnicities in the salon: Latino, African American, and Caucasian women and men were getting hair services at the salon.

Just left from my ‘consultation with Paul and he pretty much kicked me out after five minutes into the conversation when I showed that I was feeling uneasy about his price of $ 110 for partial highlights. The only reason I gave one star is so I could share my experience, otherwise this salon gets negative stars. When I scheduled the appointment, the receptionist told me $ 45. After that, he proceeded to show me a piece of paper hanging on the wall that says he’s certified in hair color and his line of hair care products I’ve never heard of or seen before. I guess this was supposed to make me believe he knows what he’s doing. From the moment I walked in I could tell this would not end well. He wanted to wash my hair before the color and any decent, educated stylist knows that is not the way you do it. That makes the scalp sensitive so it’s actually better to color on dirty hair which is why I avoided washing it 2 weeks prior. He also told me my hair was weak which is something I’ve never heard from a stylist before. I’ve been natural the past 4 years and am always told that I take really good care of my hair, which I do. I’m glad I did not decide to follow through with any service from this salon because he would have really messed my hair up anyways. As a consumer, pay attention to things like reviews and notice how there are very few for this man who is supposed to be well versed in his field. Seems like a complete fraud, but that’s my opinion. Please ladies, proceed with caution and make sure you do your research before you let just anyone style your hair.

I have been a client at this salon when it was formerly known as Kuttin Ege, about 5 years now. Paul and his staff are very professional and believe in catering to their clients. I wear my hair natural so I only visit every 3 – 4 months for a trim and color. I’ve never experienced any damage from receiving color nor have I ever had any heat damage from my blow outs. My curls pop right back! Great care is always taken with my hair which seems to be a lost art nowadays :)

I have natural hair which I wanted to wear blown out for a special event. The service was great, the stylist was prompt, the price was reasonable, and I loved my hair. I received many compliments at the event. The only reason I am giving this 3 stars is due to time. My blowout took 3 hours and 15 minutes. That is way too long… about 3 times as long as it has taken at other salons. So I recommend going here if you have the time and patience.
