8 miles away took an hour and half to travel. That’s what I get for wanting to try the city’s public transportation. Should’ve stuck to Über or taxi but I was feeling like I can anything. And I seriously wanted to prove to Au89 that I know how to handle buses and trains on my own. Ha! Feeling pissed and stressed after fidgeting for 16 minutes, I finally arrived at the Navy Pier, late for the show I was gonna catch at 6PM. In my haste, I didn’t go thru the entrance where I see most people are heading towards. That’s how I ended up entering near the back part of the Skyline. From the outside, this looks tiny and a bit cramped. I had to go around towards the front of the structure to get my ticket at the Will Call stall. Amphitheater seating, decent seats, helpful staff. Good venue for the Shanghai Cirque.

This stage reminded me of seeing shows at Six Flags Great America as a kid. The stage is outdoors, so dress appropriately. Also, every seat is a good seat, and it’s a pretty small, intimate theater, so if there’s a big price difference between the sides and the center section or the front and back, I say go ahead and get the cheaper seats because the theater isn’t that big anyway. I saw the Cirque de Soleil Shanghai Circus with my family and it was fun. It was a great family activity with excitement and suspense. Tickets are reasonable, and also available on GoldStar for a discount.

Great outdoor theater on the Navy Pier in Chicago. The tickets were relatively inexpensive. I was able to get two tickets for my BF’s birthday to Cirque Shanghai for about $ 15 each. That was a steal! Also, we sat in the very first row which wasn’t too bad since the stage wasn’t raised by much and my BF was called on to come on stage and help with an act! That was also an amazing experience. If you’re coming here for a show like Cirque Shanghai, I would suggest sitting maybe 5 – 10 rows back from the front of the stage for the best view. Again, being up close, it was a little neck-straining to look at the tricks which were high in the sky. But I think the stage and seating areas were designed well enough that everyone can get a great view of the performance, so not to worry if you don’t get those seats. The theater is very casual, so no need for formal wear — it’s not a Broadway type theater. If you’re here for a night performance in any other season but summer, I suggest bringing something warm since it could be a bit nippy out.

I came here last weekend to see Cirque Shanghai with my family. Not only was I impressed by the aesthetics of this outdoor venue, but I loved the idea of a stage that while covered in case of bad weather, also allowed for the fresh air of an out door venue! They had a great concession area, a great location right on Chicago’s Navy Pier, and the staff were all very helpful. I’d also have to say based on my experience that there really isn’t a bad seat in the house! Overall I was very pleased with this venue and can’t wait to see another show here!

Went to see the Cirque Shanghai show while we were in town. Manages to get 50% off through the online discount. The show was entertaining. All the performers were really good. The 75 minute length was good. After the show we rode the Ferris wheel. Beautiful summer night in Chicago.

Outside performance area found under a tent made of steel, approximately fifty to a hundred yards east of the Ferris wheel. If walking within the main building it’s nearest to entrance doors 5 and 6. I think it’s near door entrance 6 that you can find a stairway leading upstairs. Through some doors and to the ticket booth. Very important when you are trying to avoid torrential downpours; otherwise your only alternative is to walk the pier and when you’ve walked about half the distance of the pier, look up and there it is. Never ask pier employees for directions, I wasted thirty minutes walking back and forth because of bad directions from these guys. Four different people and all gave bad directions. The fifth person we asked, a parking employee had the right information. Isn’t that odd?! As said earlier the stage is outside so depending on climate dress accordingly. I watched a show during a downpour, it was a little chilly but easy to acclimate to the surroundings once seated. Good lighting, close seating and warm decorations warm you up and you tend to forget the surroundings somewhat. Seats are numbered but I don’t think you have to sit in a designated seat. Weekdays the turnout is smaller and you could grab a better seat before or during a show. Beverages & food are not on sale under the tent or nearby. Easy and great for kids. Afterwards one can find a few of the performers from the show standing aloof waiting for a tourist to identify and shoot many pictures with them. On clear days to the south end of that stage area is a great place to snap some shots of Chicago and the Lake. Pier parking is best $ 20 and no time limit.

Went here about a month ago for the Cirque Shanghai show, compliments of Unilocal. It was pretty cool. I noticed that the ticket prices were super reasonable, in case you didn’t get the Unilocal hook up. Like $ 14 or somewhere in there. Seems like there really wouldn’t be a bad seat in the house. It’s a covered area, so if it rains it really wouldn’t be a big deal. Keep in mind that it is on the lake, so brink a jacket — especially in the cooler months. Didn’t buy any food or booze, but it’s Navy Pier, so I’m sure it aint cheap. The guys selling those stupid light up thingamabobs were charging like $ 15 a pop, so that could be an indication of other things being overpriced. All in all pretty cool joint.

Its a nice small venue. It could be a really really cool place to see a band when the weather is nice. I just don’t know why they call it the skyline stage. There is no skyline view from the stage. It is outdoors and it can be cold by the lake… so bring a blanket or jacket.

This is a really nice outdoor venue. If you get stuck in a seat way to the side you may have some problems seeing but otherwise its pretty nice! We saw Cirque Shanghai there last weekend and it was a nice venue, I didn’t realize it was outdoors before! It got a little breezy and chilly but overall I quite enjoyed it!

The outdoor stage was nicely decorated with Chinese lanterns just for Cirque Shanghai and it was a nice touch. I love the pagoda set-up around the perimeter. Every seat in here gives an excellent view of the stage. I like how bright the tent was, and I wonder how the stage is viewed at night. Anyways, the bathrooms are a little further back so if you need to go, I’d recommend going beforehand so as to not miss the show. What I really appreciated was the fact that we could take pictures so long as there wasn’t any flash. Rarely do they even let you take a camera in nowadays!

We saw Cirque Shanghai: Bai Xi last night and I have to say one thing: WOW. We were amazed at the show, the performers were awesome. I had my hands up to my eyes for most of the show and waited with baited breath for them to finish their tricks. Mind boggling, beautiful, amazing, breathtaking, there are so many words to describe this show. After the performance, they have a meet and greet and you can ask the performers questions, get autographs or pose for pictures with them. The Pepsi Skyline Stage is outside, but under a tent so weather really isn’t an issue. The tickets were cheap, IMO, for what we saw. It’s assigned seating, so there are different price points, depending on how close to the stage you are. Here are a couple of guidelines if you are attending a live performance: 1. BEONTIME. There is nothing more disruptive than people coming in late to a show for the first 15 minutes. As far as I’m concerned, if you are not there on time, you forfeit your seats. 2. There is NO flash photography during the performance. I’d like to tell all those arses that had their flashes popping the whole time, you are lucky no one got hurt. It’s not only disturbing to the audience, but also to the performers. I wish security or the ushers would have escorted those people out. 3. SHUTUP. We all get that these stunts and tricks are amazing and breathtaking, but I am not blind, nor is the person or persons around you. We can all see what’s happening, we don’t need your play by play telling us that the performer is crazy or suicidal. I also don’t care that you would NEVER do those tricks. If you would, you’d be on stage performing and not sitting in the audience giving us your droning commentary. Other than that, I enjoyed myself.

We paid a little extra for VIP seating and it was probably the best $ 2.50 that we both spent. VIP seating is only $ 5 more and I found a coupon for $ 5 off of the total of our Cirque Shanghai tickets. We had a thorough and fun experience. The beginning was a bit cheesy and the mc was really corny but the acrobats were fabulous. We saw this Saturday night and their last performance here was Sunday… hope that they come back to Chicago again!

great show! honestly, dont fork over the extra money for«VIP» seating. the venue is small enough, so no matter where you sit, you can see the entire stage. from start to finish, the show was very entertaining and had some funny moments. perfect for the family to see and a good way to end your trip to the navy pier. tickets were about $ 15 for adults and there is a ticket booth on the pier and one upon entering the venue. the show is here only until september 1st i think… so check it out while you can!(the emcee sorta sounded like carlos mencia. hahah!)

I def have to agree with Andrea W.‘s assessment. The stage is staggered so everyone has a fairly good view of the outdoor stage. It’s also covered so that the audience is protected from sun and rain. Just a nice outdoor stage! I watched Cirque Shanghai and it was indeed a great show. For $ 14.50, I didn’t expect the quality to be like Cirque du Soleil, but it was such a wonderful show. The acrobats def did feats that just left me in awe. I don’t want to ruin anything, but def be ready for some interesting acts.

I had heard wonderful reviews about the Cirque Shanghai show playing at Navy Pier so my boyfriend and I decided to see it last night. I never knew the Pepsi Skyline Stage was outside, but thought that it was pretty cool. It’s also covered so if it starts raining it’s no problem at all! The show is wonderful! I thought it was going to be a bit juvenile, but it was truly amazing what these acrobats could do… we were holding our breaths the entire time! It’s only $ 14.50/person and definitely worth it! The show is about an hour and a half, which I thought was the perfect length. It will be at the Pepsi Skyline Stage through September 3 if you are interested in seeing it.

Another cool place at the Pier is this outdoor concert venue. You are outside but their is a covering that hangs over a good part of it. The sound is very good here and alot of national and international performers play here. I have seen a few shows here.

The Skyline Stage is an intimate place at Navy Pier to see musical acts. The summertime venue is outdoors, though basically protected from the elements. You can still hear a random plane buzz by while listening to the Cowboy Junkies.
