I feel like this place gets mixed reviews because the quality of their food varies throughout their menu. I, personally, have had the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich and a few of their slices and these two examples pretty much sum up the restaurant. My chicken sandwich was really good. It took 10 to 15 minutes for it to come out, but it had a juicy, fresh-cooked(assuming here) chicken breast with appropriately portions sauces. The chips were overcooked though. The individual slices tend to run a little less consistent though. Depending on when the pizzas in front are put out, they can be anywhere from mostly fresh to extracted of all moisture. But for the rice I paid for my sandwich, I am OK with what I got. When you come here, just make sure to order something that needs to be made when you order it(hot sandwiches, whole pizzas, etc.) and you should be good.

A no brainer for me when I’m craving something uncomplicated & delicious. A nice thin over sized slice with that beautiful spread of marinara under the cheese that separates Chicago thin crust from New York CRAP lol jk. Go for the calzone if you have the appetite. Both oversized, but super affordable. Looks like they have a great spread on pastries & gelato but I never make it that far.

I came here for coffee to meet an ex professor. Place is really chill and it’s mostly self service. The people behind the counter are nice but I wouldn’t say the service is the most attentive and they take a while to clean the tables once people leave but it night have been a slow day as well. The coffee and pizza is different but what wins is the carrot cake– my mum gets this every time she comes to Chicago. Its moist, well made, really well flavored and comes with pecans

Unilocal restaurant reviews by their nature tend to be limited in scope, for one is not going to try everything on the menu and we are all weighting different variables based on what we consider important. is it service, cleanliness, atmosphere, price, quantity, taste that is a deal breaker? i take these thing into consideration when reading reviews. but of course, also when writing them. it is with that in mind that i must say it was a welcome treat to walk into this brightly colored spot on granville. after having a cup of jet fuel coffee at metropolis down the street, we entered hoping for a good looking, fresh slice of pizza. we found it! The stuffed spinach slice was awesome. it was big, the sauce was pretty damn good(amazing how many pizza places don’t work on their sauce!) and after seeing«bakehouse» on the sign, the crust did not disappoint at all. the employees were very helpful and upbeat. the ambiance with dark wood floors and brightly displayed food cases made the space very inviting. i would feel very confident that the other items on their menu including calzones and panini(as well as some good looking thin crust) would be excellent. Stuffed spinach pizza is my most heavily weighted variable. and petes passes the test. i shall return.

This place has never been known for its customer service. On that note, I went in over 30 minutes before they closed and they had already closed up the gelato and the desserts for the night. All I got was a «sorry Hun!» Ive worked in several restaurants and still currently do, we would never just close up shop 30+ minutes early and tell a customer too bad. What is the point of you being open if you aren’t going to serve anything? The manager was even standing there and didn’t offer anything. I suggest trying to get gelato at 11am when they open, maybe then they’ll serve it.

Sorry Pete’s, I had written you a good review before thanks to your pizza, but I have to counteract that, unfortunately. I ordered boneless wings today and ended up with regular wings that were very fatty. So I call them and politely ask for my correct order. They show up 30 minutes later with the exact same wings as they did the first time. I had to call them and tell them I wanted a refund. So, I just paid a delivery fee and a tip for some soggy, cold cheese fries. I’m so annoyed with this place right now. Get it together!

I am so torn about giving Pete’s on Granville a review. I personally believe their carry-out thin crust is probably the best thin crust in the city. If I were judging them solely on that, this would be a five star review. However, I have dined in 3 times and had their pizza by the slice and was shocked at how tasteless it was. I’ve tried three different types of pizza by the slice dining in and have been thoroughly disappointed every time. Just last night I ordered the thin crust spinach and ricotta cheese slice and ended up tossing it in the garbage after 3 bits. I place this review as a big fan of Pete’s so I am hoping the dine-in pizza slices will be looked at to be more in line with the product in the carry-out menu. Best,

Awesome place– their deep dish spinach pizza is the best! Cool gelato flavors. I’ve never had a bad experience there– been going for years. They let me film a sketch at their outdoor terrace and were so sweet and helpful! They let me keep props in the coolers and such– Larissa was working that day and she was great! Larissa, if you can see this, here’s how the video turned out– thanks for your help!

I absolutely love this place! I consider myself disciplined when it comes to shoving fatty foods down my mouth, however, passing this place in the morning to the gym, my mouth begins to water, eyes fixed on their food, mesmerized like a kid in a candy store. A+ for presentation, which really captured my attention in the first place. I’m not a connoisseur of pizza, nor am I a big fan and rarely ever eat it, so it’s shocking to me that I really enjoyed their«tomato and cheese» thin crust pizza and have been craving it since I had it last, which was last night. Definitely give this a try if you’re a vegetarian. What I’ve frequently ordered. Cannoli’s w/pistachio: This dessert is my favorite. I love, love, love it! I keep going back for more. What the hell do they have in this? It’s addictive. I’m not one to ever describe how food taste, all I know is that my taste buds goes crazy for it, so I won’t go there. I will say that I like the bite size cannoli’s, rather than the regular size… why? Because you’ll get more pistachios to bite on in each end of this wonderful dessert. Sorbets: All of their flavors are delicious and you really can’t go wrong with topping your meal off with any of their gelato and sorbets. The only complaint I have with it, is that it’s overpriced. The amount you get for the cost will definitely leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, if you’re on a budget. Tiramisu: I love me some tiramisu! But, this place has to be the worst place to get your tiramisu fix. DON’T WASTEYOURMONEY. I swear I have given their tiramisu a few chances before ever declaring it «the worst tiramisu I have ever ate.» All 3 were soggy on the bottom, which was disgusting! The only way I know how to describe it is, it taste like watered downed bread, flavored with coffee, and a mushy texture leaving me to question whether I should get my money back.

They got the third star for the pizza, homemade chips, gelato and service. The rest of the food-sandwiches especially-are a pass. Last night’s cheeseburger was the worst. It was a battleship grey slab of grease. I asked for an onion roll and got a mealy sesame bun. I asked if they had dijon mustard and got packets of yellow. I asked for arugala and got iceberg. For as long as it took I could have walked to Whole Foods and bought ground beef and made it myself. Truly I would have been happier going next door to the hot dog stand. I’ve had the Chicken Pesto sandwich, too. I should have read the fine print. It is made with pesto chicken salad. It’s a drippy mess of mayo and pesto, the chicken is in large chunks so the sandwich falls apart at first bite. The roast beef and gorgonzola is the only saving grace on the sandwich menu. The staff is always really friendly and the place is always clean. They have a pretty good selection of drinks. I have also loved every flavor of gelato I have ever tried. Creamy and rich, the lavender flavor is a real treat. They have a good, rotating variety of slices, too.

I actually really like this place! The pasta dish we had alfredo pesto was deliciously fatty and the chicken cesar was very generous portion-wise. There are a lot of Loyola students that hang out here, which is kind of annoying, but other than that I don’t have very many gripes with the place. The Gelato is overpriced, but it’s delicious: The animal cracker and cinnamon flavors were particular delicious.

We tried three different slices and couldn’t finish them because they didn’t taste good. Missed the mark here, I wouldn’t recommend. The staff were inviting and friendly.

I’ve been going to the western location since childhood, and Pete’s is by far my favorite thin crust in Chicago. I was a little hesitant to try Granville, but sure enough the recipe is the same. The sauce is what makes this pizza. The crust and cheese are fairly standard, but I’m a sauce guy, so four stars. One additional star for the ease in which you can place your order online. The customization options are great. Happy to see they expanded.

I may be overrating them but that’s okay. For a pizza café, I think they get the job done, well. If you’ve ever had the chance to try the other location, the differences are vast. You may have noticed I said«the other location» rather than«their other location.» As I understand it, it’s a family business but the other location is run by different owners or a different family member that does things differently. At least, this is what I’ve collected from customers of both locations. Not sure if there is truth to it, but service wise, I dig the feeling here far more. The shop is built like a café, I like that everything offered is within view. You order a slice, you see it scooped and placed in a hot oven. Gelato is available and if requested, their attendants will help you to a few samples. Pizza slices(thin, etc) are available as well as stromboli’s and other pizza-related favorites. Sandwiches, salads, soups and more. The café is often serviced with a handful of employees, so, response times are fairly quick. The place is well lighted. Driving by, I’ve often felt it desirable to stop in for a warm something. So, their advertising of the place is eye-catching. It helps that their pizza is tasty with a good sauce and crust gives a pleasing chew. Slices are about $ 4.25 Small gelato $ 3.25(decent flavors available)

Ordered a personal pan and a salad to go. Great flavor and value. They have a variety of pasta and Italian favorites on the menu too. I think if it was in a different neighborhood it would get swallowed up my competitors. It’s worth a stop. 3.5÷5.

We stopped at Pete’s to get take-out as we were all hungry and it was close by(within walking distance). You can smell the pizza from down the street! Mmmmm. They have a variety of foods to choose from — salads, soups, pasta, sandwiches, a few desserts, and of course pizza. We got a few slices of pizza(a variety of flavors). The pizza was good, and pretty cheap. My only issue was that it was pretty cold by the time we ate it. If we had eaten it there or had it delivered, maybe it wouldn’t have been as cold. They are sitting under heat lamps, so it’s not like it is fresh out of the oven when you order it for take-out(at least if you order by the piece). Overall, not my favorite from what I have tried, but not bad!
