I am so sad to see this place go because I only have been there twice. Jessa is a sweetheart and look forward to what she is doing next.

In my attempt to green my lifestyle, I attempt to trek over to Pivot whenever I can. They have an eclectic mix of eco-friendly fashions. The owner Jessa is sweet, knowledgeable and helpful most of the time You can actually find some good deals in here! My favorite shirt(a bamboo shirt dress) is the most comfortable and soft fabric and it was under $ 100!!! It is holding up nicely.

I love this place. Absolutely love it. It is so comfortable and relaxing inside that I felt encouraged to try everything on and learn about all of the amazing features of every product sold in the store. I also have to say that it is absolutely true that organic cotton feels about a thousand times softer than regular cotton. I don’t know why that is, but this is definitely the store where I will buy every future T-shirt for the rest of my life.

I decided to go to Pivot after reading about them in a back issue of Nylon magazine, and I must say that I really like the look and everything about the store. First, I find it very interesting that such a chic place is in the Fulton Market, which smells of fish and bad meat, I guess they’re trying to make it into the meatpacking district of Chicago.
Everything looked wonderful and all the dresses and tops had great and unique shapes to them. I felt everything in the store and all the clothes have a cool, soft, comfortable feel to them. It’s amazing what you can make with seaweed, soy cotton and the like. I fell in love with and want the wooden radio(so cute!) and the biodegradable umbrellas that have the Asian look to them but you can actually use these in the rain!
I really do like the place and location of Pivot, but I do have some bones to pick: First, was the first time I tried to visit Pivot and the sign said it was closed, but it was on a Sunday and it was 4pm when I arrived and it closes at 6pm on Sunday, and I saw someone in there at the front. That really made me mad, as I was walking there and my foot was kinda messed up. Second, While the products in there are really nice, I think this whole eco-chic movement will become yet another resurrected fashion fad if people can’t start lowering the prices of some of these clothes. I think it’s great that more and more people are getting into and making eco-friendly clothes, but you can’t expect that to be something that most people with adopt with prices starting at $ 150 and above, most people can’t afford that and would not pay so much for clothes even if they could. I hope eco clothing will start to get less expensive soon or it will end up as just another hipster fashion trend

Every once in a while, I decide to splurge on something. More often than not, it’s food and/or wine. Every so often, however, it’s clothes. Specifically, the most dreamy raincoat ever. From Pivot. And it’s the perfect color of charcoal grey and has an adorable hood and well. I’m pretty smitten. I couldn’t stop gushing about it when I first spotted it a few weeks ago, and now that it’s in my possession, I’ll never shut up. I’m bragging about it to total strangers. It’s out of control. Because everything in the store is so adorable and friendly and environmental-conscience appeasing, I also walked out of there with a gorgeous silk dress for $ 65(down from $ 298). Hello awesome sale finds and gorgeous clothes, so long tax refund.

Even though this is a woman’s boutique and not much for me to buy personally, I have to give Pivot a good review… The clothes are fresh, the message is «green», and the owner is fly. A perfect world would be a world where all woman wore the kind of clothes they have here. I heard an opinion from some ladies that you need to be pretty fit to actually fit into the clothes, but I’m sure there is something for everyone. Definitely worth a trip to the west loop. Go on Pivot and welcome to the neighborhood. A fine addition to the city’s fashion conscience.

So I have a confession… I don’t always recycle. But one of my new years resolutions is to be more environmentally conscious(hmmm– should probably go fish that water bottle out of the trash) and visiting a store like Pivot Boutique makes me want to be eco-smart! So from the other reviews you’ve probably already figured out that Pivot Boutique claims to be the first eco-boutique in Chicago. It’s actually kind of shocking that no one has opened one sooner so huge props to the sweet owner Jessa! You can get a little bit of everything in here– casual tees and jeans to sexy dresses for a night out on the town. But there’s one thing that all the clothing in here has in common(well besides being eco-smart) — it all looks and feels so comfortable! I couldn’t help, but touch every little item on the racks. In fact, I’d be afraid if I wore anything from here I’d get molested by strangers on the street! The pricing is pretty reasonable as well… most of the things I had my eye on were under $ 150. So help save our world and shop at Pivot– and someone needs to buy the fabulous gold skirt they have there right now!

Organic cotton = way softer than regular, pesticide-y cotton. Bamboo fabric = feels like jersey. Soy fabric = also feels like jersey. And these three fabrics are the bread and butter of Jessa’s store, which is the first Eco-Friendly boutique in Chicago. Pieces are unique and comfortable and good for the earth(no weird sprays or chemicals). Lots of pieces are things you can wear every day — skirts, jackets, tees — but there are some OTHER pieces which are definitely more couture(you’ll see what I mean at the Unilocal Fashion show). Also? In the very front of the store is the world’s cutest little red dress. It has a black ribbon tie and is SO cute and SO comfortable and is made of SOY and if I had not just paid rent today — I would have brought it home with me.

Yay for Chicago’s first Eco Boutique! Pivot will be having their Grand Opening on Tuesday(Sept 4th)! The website has it down right when they say, «If you are looking for cutting-edge fashion or eco-friendly fabrics and designs — you’ll find both at Pivot. Stylish and sustainable can co-exist.» The store is decked out with fixtures that have little pots of plants along the bottom and are made by a local artist who makes all of his pieces out of scrap metal. My favorite pieces in the store were the bahar shahpar babydoll dress which was featured in Lucky on July ’07 and Ashley Watson bags which were in I think Lucky and Nylon… Pivot is the only store in Chicago that carries Ashley Watson too! Anyway… long review getting too long so there… 5 stars… I’m going back there asap
