I’m giving this place 1 star strictly for service, I didn’t even get a chance to eat the food. My wife and I walked in at 7:30 to a completely empty restaurant, which was the first red flag, to an employee on his phone, which couldn’t even be bothered to look up and greet us. After deciding on what we wanted I ordered two sandwiches and a couple of sides. The employee stared at his phone the entire time I ordered and when I asked for a couple sides he finally looked up off his phone and rolled his eyes at me. At this point I had already had enough of this guy and told him to forget it, I didn’t want to bother him with the order and I was heading across the street to Potbelly’s. He didn’t seem to have a problem with that by saying«alright sounds good» on our way out. To sum it up, there are way to many good restaurants around the area to ever give this place a second chance. I look forward to seeing what moves in Porkchop Express’ place after the doors shut! DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEORMONEY!

Rib tips are on point! I’ve ordered from the Unilocal app several times, but I always have to wait for my food, even when I arrive for pickup in the allotted time frame.

Excellent beef brisket! Very nice mac and cheese. The bread like«Texas toast» used for the sandwich was lightly toasted and good. The bbq sauce was a little smoky and a little spicy which is a very good combo. Rahsaan did a great job preparing and serving my meal too. I will be back. Don’t tell too many people but there is parking available on Plymouth CT.

5 stars for flavor of food. I got the chicken sausage gumbo and the flavor is out of this world amazing!!! There is a good spice to it! I also got the pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun, also delicious, be cautious, the BBQ sauce is spicy! Service gets 2 ½−3 stars. We walked in at 11:30am, it was empty, the girl was on a personal call and didn’t greet us. She was the only employee working, taking orders and prepping our food. They were also out of mac n cheese, but clearly we were the first customers, so they didn’t make it. The soda machine was out of order and you dont get chips or anything but a pickle with your sandwich. I will go back again, and hopefully they have mac n cheese.

I’ve tried both the Adams/State and Dearborn/Harrison location twice. All 4 times I was disappointed for a variety of reasons. Both neighborhood locations are in desperate need of a quick and affordable bbq place that has good food. The bbq is average at best. All the sauce in the world won’t make dried out meat moist. When a staff member walks out of the bathroom and see’s you standing in line to place an order, it’s probably best to hang up your phone call. Literally, the person stayed on their phone while I placed my order, why she made the order, and then the entire time it took me to eat my food. I just can’t conceive a scenario that this would constitute good service and a welcoming envrionment. I’ve tried the brisket, rib tips, pulled chicken, mac & cheese, and the fries. All were very bland at best. Until they can address the food issues, as well as the service issues, I’ll not be returning.

Wasn’t feeling too well today so wasn’t really interested in cooking or trying new foods. My son came by and ordered delivery for me. But Hey! Rib-Tips! This was a very pleasant surprise, although I wasn’t able to eat much. The servings are gi-normous and food arrived piping hot! Great sauce! Great flavors to meat which was succulent and tender. Will have to eat all week for leftovers. Baked beans were okay with nice chunks of meat in them.

Really quick and easy service and a very nice staff. Definitely somewhere to go to split a meal or get some good BBQ in the city. Shared Riblets and sweet potato fries with someone and it was delicious. That BBQ sauce is delicious and the portion sizes are definitely generous. The table was a little sticky and the space is small but the food makes up for it. Also, a pretty sweet selection of soda/pop with a few novelty bottles that add to the experience. Definitely get the BBQ!

Don’t go here unless you 1. like spicy hot BBQ and 2. have all the time in the world. I’ve never been to a BBQ place that did not give you a choice of sauce. I like a mild, sweet sauce. What I got is still burning my mouth after one bite so I’ll be throwing out the pulled pork sandwich I bought. Also, the place is staffed by ONE person and the wait was so long as she filled orders one by one that I had to just give up. The sandwich was ready but I couldn’t keep waiting for the side of mac n’ cheese which I would expect not to require preparation time. Too bad, maybe I would have gotten something decent to eat if I’d left with the mac n’ cheese instead of the pulled pork. I felt so bad for the girl stuck in such a horrible job all by herself that I put the refund she gave me for the mac n’ cheese into a fishbowl on the counter. So, a total of $ 11 completely wasted and I have no dinner, here at a client’s late. Also, there’s no porkchop on the menu. Go figure.

Wow! This was spectacular BBQ! I stopped in on my way home Saturday night and will definitely be going back. The rib tips fell off the bone, the sauce was vinegar based with pleasant sweetness and the spinach and bacon salad was a great compliment. The salad had oranges, pecans, cherry tomatoes and tangy red onion. Fresh and crispy like I’d make at home. Thanks Porkchop for the perfect food to eat while watching the Bears lose!

Where to begin… I live down the street from this location and have wanted to try it for a while now. My vegetarian wife was out for the night so I decided to give it a try. Boy was I disappointed… The rib tips were mainly burnt and dry and my chicken wings were room temperature and dryyyy, which is strange because I saw her take them out of the oven and I live about 400 feet away so I can’t blame travel nor being late to pick them up. It’s disappointing because they had good flavor they were just cooked poorly. Despite the potential, I just spent $ 30 for bbq for dry meat so I don’t think I’ll be taking a chance on Porkchop again. Save yourself the trouble and walk 200 feet to First Draft on Clark. They at least know how to make wings.

Wow the food was to die for delicious. I was impressed. I was referred to this place by a coworker and the food knocked my boots off. My biggest complaint had to be the line and the wait for foods. By the time I ordered and got my food my lunch break was almost over so I definitely recommend ordering ahead of time. The girl who takes your order is very nice and personable, but more importantly the food is amazing. I had the Po boy sandwich and it was amazing. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the fries and coleslaw made great sides. I kinda wish they would have taken the tails off of the shrimp. Other than that I do recommend giving them a try it is really worth the wait!

Oh boy, where do I even begin. I tried this place a few years ago at a Unilocal Elite Event and it was soo good! I travel downtown for work sometimes and have been meaning to stop in to give them a try at their actual restaurant. When I first walked in at lunch time(Downtown) — the place was deserted with one other guy who looks like he had been waiting a while. That wasn’t a good sign, but I was already in and didn’t want to leave. When you first walk in — all I smelled was a strong smell of cleaning solution which I can’t stand in restaurants. You should smell food, not cleaning solution! Also, the place looks like they made an effort in making it trendy, but it still gives off a very dingy vibe. It’s dark and the lighting is awful. It would not be a place where I would want to eat for lunch. You want to get away from the fluorescent lighting in the office — not to go to another fluorescent room! Oh and there was only one lady at the counter who was moving super slow. While I was waiting for my food — another worker came in(looks like she was late). The late girl asked the other girl if she needed any help, she said no and the girl went to go sit down at one of the dining tables playing on her phone!!! WTH! The menu was not that big at all. All the pulled pork sandwiches came on a pretzel bun which I do not like, so I ended up getting the pulled chicken because it was the only one that came with a regular bun. I’m not the type to change the Chef’s recipe unless I absolutely hate an ingredient. After waiting a while(I actually got my food before the guy who had looked like he’d been waiting a while!) — I took my food elsewhere. First, my sandwich came on a pretzel bun! The chicken was dry and it didn’t even look marinated. The girl had just squirted some BBQ sauce on top of the chicken! Not the way I had it at the Unilocal Elite Event. BBQ tasted good, but it was not mixed in well with the chicken. It gets worse — the sandwich had a hint of the cleaning solution taste to it. I ended up throwing half the sandwich away it was that bad. Needless to say, I will not be back. Very disappointed!

Meat was good sauce was clearly ketchup based. WAY to expensive for what you get $ 11 for a sandwich & soda(fountain was broke) no sides! This is clearly a chain trying to cash in on bbq fad and doing a poor job. No ambiance ok food and decent service I expect Smoque level quality! My choice was this or the sub chain across the st. I wish I went there!

The place was dead quiet at 12:45 on a Friday afternoon… Should have taken that as ominous sign number 1. When I walked in, there was a gentleman cleaning up the trash can and getting the garbage out of the bin. Honestly thought he was the janitor. He went about his way and I sat there for a minute or two as he did so expecting someone to come from the back and help me. Nope. The mistaken janitor was the lone man working the joint. He did wash his hands before handling food or anything else. So props for that as I have seen people not be as diligent… I got the Brisket Sandwich, a side of baked beans and a bottle of soda all for takeaway. As has been said in a previous review, it appears that this is all brought in from somewhere and heated up on site. That’s not a worry for me; as long as it’s hot and tasty. The sandwich was; albeit loaded with fatty pieces. Normally in a sandwich or platter, the fat isn’t as prevalent. I would call it 70% meat, 30% fat on my sandwich. But tasty, allow me to reiterate that. The beans on the other hand, a bit cold, albeit tasty. I think it’s a bit pricy for what you get and it seems to be a poor interpretation of what they hoped it could be. It’s almost like a skeleton of what the potential of this place is. All places deserve a second chance and this one will get that as well.

Seriously the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. Go to one of their other locations if you can. Food seems to get trucked in from another location — the brisket I had was simply reheated in the old Pockets calzone oven, rather than smoked on-site. Brisket was tough, and flavorless. Coke machine was also busted. I’ve gone to their location on Randolph, and had a great experience. The food tasted great, and actually appeared to be smoked on site. Of course, it’d be rather difficult to get a smoker into a small space, especially in the Printers Row neighborhood… but with that being the case, why even open a barbecue joint in the area? Great idea, just poorly executed.

Meh. $ 16 and change for a meal that was less tasty than a fast food value meal. 1) The pulled pork sandwich was dry. There was bbq sauce on the bread but the pulled pieces of pork were very dry and bland without the sauce 2) The gumbo had the consistency of chicken noodle soup. In this case, looks were NOT deceiving; The gumbo tasted like chicken noodle soup with sausage substituted for noodles. 3) Lastly, the mac and cheese was also a bust. The cheese sauce was tasty but it didn’t stick to the flavorless macaroni pasta very well.

Came here for a quick lunch on a Sat. The one person who was working was incredibly nice and helpful. I tried the brisket sandwich(which is served on texas-style toast) and it was solid. Not the best BBQ I’ve had in the city, but was just fine in a pinch. The restaurant itself was fine… a little dirty, but about par for upscale fast-food establishments. I’m happy I tried Porkchop out, but I’ll continue to explore other places before I come back.

Mehhhh. Unfortunately, not impressed. The cornbread was not very fresh… the mac and cheese was nothing to write home about… and the pulled pork sandwich was doused in BBQ sauce… probably because the pork itself had no flavor. Disappointing, as we can always use good new restaurants in the neighborhood.

This place is all over the board — some days the ‘cue is dandy, other days, just so-so. And there’s no consistency with the«bbq delivery systems» — I’ve had my pulled pork sandwich arrive on pretzel rolls, sub sandwich rolls and even a sesame seed hamburger roll. Folks, plain white bread would be just fine. Recently, I managed to score one of the best pulled-pork sandwich I’ve had since moving from North Cakalacky! Juicy, tender, with a subtle smoke ring. And while I usually prefer eastern North Carolina ‘cue — historically a vinegar-based pepper sauce– this was topped with a somewhat sweet tomato-based barbecue sauce that packs a smattering of heat. On my last visit, the meat came piled atop a huge pretzel roll — total overkill. The pulled-chicken sandwich is also pretty good, and the full rack of ribs($ 20) was the size of an infant. I’ve never had an issue with the speed of the service and the crew behind the counter appears friendly enough.
