Practical Angle

It’s seems impossible that I’ve not already done this review. I’ve been a client for 10+ years and they have never disappointed. Top notch creative and a good eye for what will help your art stand out. I’ve had them do personal work, memorabilia, collectable art and gifts for clients and family. All just fantastic. Pricing is very fair for this level of quality. Street Parking is a nightmare, but look for valet at TGIF. ;)

Their work is exceptional. We use Practical Angle to frame and re-​frame many pieces in in high end art collection. We’ve trusted them with several originals, some worth several hundred thousand dollars and are more than happy with the care and end product from them. Paul is very knowledgeable about the care and needs of fine art pieces… friendly, fast and perfect.

I just moved back to Chicago and have recently discovered Practical Angle, which is now my go-​to frame shop for everything from photos to prints. It was kinda a big step moving from the Ikea-​frame-​made-​from-​fiber-​board-​and-​tape to custom ones, only because of the steep price increase. But, as expected, worth every penny.
Their patience is my biggest sell-​point. I never feel overly rushed, even when a decision between two seemingly similar frames takes forever.
And, their attention to detail is pretty great. I had a print with some pencil marks. And, with my permission, they ironed those out.
Now, that’s art!

You can also count on prompt service and orders are completed very quickly. Even when ordering 30 frames at a time, the job is done swiftly, and with precision. There is no one North of the Chicago River you should trust more than Paul and his team.

I went to Practical Angle with a bunch of posters I needed framed. I used to live in NYC and always had a trusted framing place so my expectations were high. These guys did not disappoint. They gave me several options given my budget, which I appreciated. Some places will try to force a frame on you or give you a super cheap alternative. These guys worked with what your vision is for the framing and are super nice. The turnaround time for four framings was about a week — not too bad. They also had a ton of options to pick from and didn’t rush me through the process. Definitely great service. The only issue I had (and the only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars) is that the wiring for hanging were all different lengths so getting them to hang in a neat row was a pain. I probably should have mentioned that to them at first, but I neglected to. I definitely recommend Practical Angle!

Never thought I would love a framing shop, let alone write a review about it. However, Practical Angle is that awesome! It’s location can’t be beat (1 block east of Michigan Ave on Erie) — its in a beautiful old building which is just charming. I had a painting framed and couldn’t be happier with the results. The staff is knowledgable, very helpful and patient. The frame selection is so vast so be prepared to be overwhelmed with choices — I was there for a while but thanks to Ketch, I found the perfect frame! Prices are competitive and turnaround time is typical. I would definitively visit Practical Angle again and will only trust them in framing important things.

Why I love Practical Angle? I never had any previous experience in getting anything framed, so when I went to Practical Angle, I was bombarded with decisions to make. Other than the frame itself, you have to decide things about the glass, the bordering, different color combinations, etc. Clearly, I was in over my head, but with the help and suggestions of the staff, I walked away knowing that I’ll have an awesome frame to put up. Since my first visit, I’ve returned several times and always received great service and a great product. It doesn’t matter the size of the picture or art work, how ornate or simple you want it to be… Practical Angle is the place to go!
