I stumbled into Precious Possessions while on an *unexpected (curse you inclement Midwestern winters!) weekend stay in Chicago. Milan was beyond helpful — we became fast friends as he openly shared stories of special pieces in the shop. He gave me space to roam on my own but was always available if I had further questions. No pressure to buy. Through his recommendation I went away with a Phantom Quartz — lovely! He also sent me off with a hug and 2 tumbled stones — what generosity! A truly special owner and truly special store. I will return if ever in the city!

Seek out the fabulous and knowledgable Helen when you visit. She will help you select the perfect stone for your needs and taste. I stop by as often as I can and am always impressed by all of the beautiful pieces they have displayed in such a small space. Wonderful experience!

Amazing staff. They are always so helpful. This is my second trip and I’ll be back for all of my precious stone needs. I recently was given an office in which I wanted to cleanse and bring positive energy into. The owner and the personnel were able to help me with my needs and even gifted me some special stones.
On a previous visit, I purchased some stones for fertility and healing. I was pregnant within a month.

Milan and Helen have been in the rocks and minerals business for 25 years and it shows. This shop is both beautiful and educational. There an incredible selection for every budget and need. From $ 4,500 meteorites to simple spheres, fossils to museum quality specimens this has it all.
Milan is a global collector and always finding something new and interesting. There’s a lot tucked away in the display cases and shelves so take your time and look carefully. If you are curious ask and if you’re offered help or information accept it. The staff want to make you happy.
As a sign of how connected to the earth and natural world this shop is, the have a pet sparrow, Sammy, who visits each evening and creates no mess in return for seed and a warm roost. He also brings gifts of twigs and small pieces of wool, plastic or metal. Other friends of Sammy stop on too on occasions.
Let the staff share their knowledge about the energy in stones and their properties and meaning. Rocks have a magical property — they call you and you won’t always know why or why not you like them. Even if you don’t believe there’s nothing like finding complementary stones and seeing how beautiful they look together. The color palette and luster plus veins and layered textures will generate many happy minutes of exploration and discovery.

I came upon this «hidden gem» (pun intended) when I was working at an office in the same building a couple of years ago. I loved coming down to this shop on my lunch breaks to look at all the beautiful rocks and chat with the lovely owner. I have purchased several items from this place which now hold a precious part of my rock collection.
I have since moved to San Diego, but was back in Chicago last week for a birthday trip. I brought some friends from San Diego to this shop because I remembered how outstanding the experience was. And without fail, we all had a memorable time basking in the energy of this space and the buzz around the beauty of the stones.
This place is a literal hidden gem… in fact, we kept referring to the shop as «The Hidden Gem» in the days following our visit. (DBA name change??)
Precious Possessions will always be on my go-​to list whenever I’m back in Chicago.

Very helpful owner and staff. She worked with my 6 year old over his Spring Break weekend and helped him pick out exactly what he wanted (nice fire agate and flourite wishing stone). For 6, he is quite knowledgeable on rocks and minerals and the store and staff was his favorite stop (above the Bean, Field Museum, Lego Store and Disney Stores). Will be a regular visit every time we go up. For the young minecrafters… yes, they have Lapis Lazuli :)

Cute store and helpful staff! Kim helped me find the hematite necklace I wanted and told me the meaning of the stone I got. Nice artifacts for the curio too. Been going to the dentist next door for many years and cant believe I never went to the store, glad I finally did!
