Walked in for take out and the waitress/hostess was sitting down eating. She begrudgingly got up with a sigh. I said hello to her twice and all I got was a very blank expression. The third time she finally replied, but it was too late. This place blows.

Each time this taco joint changes owners, they seem to lose a star. The meat is just not as high quality as before. The ambience is improved but I really go to a taco joint for tacos not a candle-lit dinner. Right now, we’re going to nearby Los Arcos.

This place switched ownership :( Jose doesn’t work here anymore and his delicious foods are gone. The new food is pretty awful and I wouldn’t go back. Who puts broccoli in a burrito? These 5 stars are for Jose and the memories of his delicious burritos.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Rogers Park/Andersonville/Edge Water areas. Ingredients are fresh, cooking is good and food is flavorful. Owners are really nice and easy to talk to and very accomodating. They’re also really flexible with deliveries. If you’re just outside the delivery area, just ask if they’d do it. Chances are, they will. They’re also very reasonably priced.

Really dig this place. I’ve always told myself that I would stop in here, but didn’t get a chance until this weekend. I was celebrating an impending series victory by my beloved Minnesota Twins over the much-hated Chicago Cubs. After having spent the previous day cavorting around Wrigley field, I needed a midday meal that could knock the last of the $ 6 old style from my mouth, and with a friggin’ quickness. This place was great from the start, with an attentive husband-wife team(I think) who took orders and cooked with great efficiency. The drone of Univision in the background really tied the whole thing together. Free chips, Bam! Three kinds of salsa, Bam! What you gon’ do now?! Oh yeah, eat the rest of your damn food. The chorizo torta and pastor taco were both superior, made even better by the fresh bread and tortilla. BYOB and affordable to boot. Come one come all, Real Azteca is here to please. P.s. Go Twins.

This place always seems pretty empty, which sucks because it’s better than average taqueria fare. I have used it as a burrito standby, using the discerning foodie’s criterium of «closest place to my house that makes a burrito» but as others noted it does look like there are a few other good dishes that are not simply tacos/burritos. Everything I order is always made to order, which is nice, because eating a pile of whatever has been sitting on the grill is not my idea of a good time. I got a steak burrito and a sweetened sparkling apple drink here yesterday and it was so good that it reminded me of my childhood in Mexico… and I did not even grow up in Mexico!!!

I like it, I like it a lot You can easily walk past Real Azteca due to having the same colored awning as Antica Pizzeria plus it looks like its part the same building but it’s worth the visit. No longer will I be walking over to Bryn Mawr and Broadway for those other places(I think you know the places I’m talking about). Real Azteca is so much more edible and won’t give you oh oh bum! It’s no bigger then a shack but I have never seen it full so far. They cook fast so they can get you in and out. The food is cooked fresh and made only when you order. The chicken tacos are excellent and as a guacamole man I have to say that it didn’t disappoint. What nice is that they are moderately cheap. Two chicken tacos with the works, medium sized order of guacamole and chips, extra green sauce… $ 9.00. They deliver too, they will be seeing me again!

Typical taqueria that does a good job of satisfying your Mexican craving. Before Real Azteca was Las Paraditas. I thought that LP’s food was great and so was their horchata; however, there were a bunch of gangbangers that would hang out there. The workers looked like gangbangers themselves, but man, they were able to perfect a taco like no other. My fiancé and I loved that place and were terribly disappointed when LP was no more. We were worried as to where we would go since Los Arcos down Clark isn’t that good. But luckily, Real Azteca opened its doors and we are now able to get our taco/burrito fix. First of all, the service is very friendly and more family-oriented, so that’s a plus. But I thought that the food, although good, did not measure up to my past experience with LP. But that’s alright, at least there’s still a quick and cheap Mexican restaurant right around the corner!

Real Azteca is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Andersonville. For years, it has been an average taqueria-for decent tacos and a few decent entrees. A few months ago, it changed owners. The new owner(Jose) is really excited about sharing his authentic family recipes with the neighborhood. A group of four of us went out a week ago and had a really wonderful experience. He gave us complimentary soup and grilled shrimp as appetizers – both were really fresh and tasty. the guacamole was superb. I really loved my entrée(charred beef short ribs) and also enjoyed the stuffed chicken breast with red sauce. my friend ordered the roasted cornish hen which is now my favorite new mexican dish. also, the sides i thought were really good too. It’s BYOB and really really cheap! $ 9 – 10 for most of these dishes. The décor is still that of a typical stale taqueria – bright lights and bolted orange tables/benches. The owner plans to change all of it-nice lighting, music etc. so support him now when he’s getting his restaurant in shape. the food is incredible and the prices are too. they may not stay so cheap. apparently Jose has left the building… any idea where he went? i would travel far and wide for his cooking
