This place has great polish dishes. If you are able to catch a peek into the kitchen youll see a grandma cooking up a storm. BOYYY she can throw down. The beers here are plentiful and the bar scene is pretty chill. You can smoke in the back outdoor/covered patio. Everyone there seems like locals and are friendly. I would definitely go back for a beer.

Let’s Euro tonight! White Party time. Came here for a Euro white party last summer. Danced Salsa, had strong drinks. Pretty typical place for the area. I used to frequent the area as a 20 year old little Polak in a short skirt to hit the couple clubs there. Those days are gone so it was fun to be there again. The party was just okay so we left earlier and ventured out to check out something else. The Polish bartenders tend to make a strong drink for little money, love it!

We went to retro this past weekend while it wasn’t my first time it was the first time that I actually had something to eat. Before ordering I presented a coupon that I purchased a few months ago from my companies discount website, the waitress had to call her«boss» and then informed us «they don’t deal with that company Anymore«and that she won’t accept the coupon !! Even though it said in big letters the coupon does not expire !. After all of that we decided to stay and just try to enjoy the food. We ordered the salmon with fries and the sample platter. After waiting 45 minutes for the food it was definitely not worth the wait. Starting from the salmon to vegetables and to the fries tasted like it was dipped in pounds of salt. The service was poor and at times with attitude. The food sucked .also why advertise if you won’t honor something that was bought at that time. Won’t see me here again.

I’ve recently attended a christianing dinner at the café and I have to admit it was a pleasant surprise. The café is nice and cozy with interesting and warm interior and really nice staff. The food was good and it tasted like homemade. I recommend the restaurant for either a dinner or a nice cup of coffee!

The fact that the food is good, is made inconsiderable by their trickery. 2 major issues: — I went in on a day when draft beer is on special $ 2. I asked which bears were on special and they told me «everything on tap». I said OK, give me a Zywjec. I had a few, and they appeared as $ 3&something/each on my bill. I asked why this was, and I got an answer — The small drafts are on special, not ones you had.(btw the ones I had were the ones that are considered small in your avg bar) — The second time I went, my wife and I decided to drink Coke. The glasses were basically dollhouse glasses, less than 6oz. Upon drinking our Cokes, we were asked«You want more?». Now, when you are asked if you want MORE, it usually means that it’s a refill. If they asked whether I wanted ANOTHER one, it would have meant that they would charge for it.(I know, I’ve been a part of the industry). So, we had 2 each and ended up getting charged $ 10+tax for 4 Cokes. To add insult to the injury, they were disgusting, barely drinkable, one or the worst fountain sodas I’ve ever had. The waitress was in fact very polite during the course of the service and we considered leaving a big tip prior to getting our bill. Don’t get fooled by their«specials»!!! It is the kind of place that struggles and doesn’t get too many customers, so they have to gyp the few that go in.

Everytime on the way to visit Alexandra’s(the retail place that sells the most delicious potato pierogis ever!), I walk past this little place called Retro Café so I thought I should stop in and try it. The lighting is very cool and the seating is nice. It’s a small place and seems like the kind of place where business gets taken care of in the back, which is actually kind of cool. I was a bit disappointed they didn’t have tea lattes, but the one waitress they had there was very accommodating, and she found me a chai tea. The best part was the old, drunk guy blowing kisses at me. Girls, be forewarned, there are a lot of guys that seem to frequent the place, but they are a bit on the drunk side, but they didn’t bother me. The potato pierogis were very tasty and they seemed to have quite a selection of Polish dishes and pizzas so I think it’s worth a stop back in there sometime.

From its name, you’d never know that Retro Café is actually a cute little Polish café. But, once you’re inside, you’re practically transported to Eastern Europe. I think we may have been the only non-Polish speakers in the place, but thankfully, the menu is in Polish and English. We tried the pierogies and potato pancakes as appetizers. The pierogies were good– we tried the meat, cheese, and sauerkraut varieties. All tasty. The potato pancakes were perfect– crispy and not too heavy. Also, I liked that neither appetizer was too greasy. We shared the stuffed cabbage rolls for our entrée. While traditionally they are served with a tomato sauce, these had a mushroom cream sauce. Very rich and delicious. But, the sides had to be my favorite part of the meal– oven potatoes(perfectly seasoned, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle– there’s plenty of brunch places that mess this up, so I was really happy) and a beet«salad», which was pretty much minced beets and horseradish(sweet and spicy! Delicious!)
