Marvelous restaurant — another Edgewater lifestyle amenity — Excellent food, environment and service. People are friendly and the owners are engaged and anxious to meet, greet and please. A must go to restaurant

Wife and I returned for dinner a few weeks ago, still love tbe place. We are glad the menu has been updated to reflect more options. Will definitely return! Tip: Try the black bean burger with jalapeños; and a cappuccino.

This review is for brunch only. To begin with, the meal started off with an annoyance. We made reservations for a 12:30 brunch time, and we were sat down at 1:10. This wasn’t entirely the restaurant’s fault, we were a larger group and there was a family camped out for a long time. We sat at the bar, and the bar staff was friendly. Unfortunately, the good service didn’t continue when we got to the table. The other wait staff seemed attentive to the other tables, so it seems this was just our waiter. I could overlook the above if the food delivered and… it didn’t. It was simply an exercise in mediocrity. The brunch menu was completely uninspired, everything was very run of the mill: basic sandwiches, basic Benedicts, basic pancakes, basic breakfast burritos. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but if you are going to do the basics and charge $ 10+ for breakfast food, it better be pretty good. And it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special. I ordered the Benedict with chorizo. It was good, but nothing amazing. My roommates ordered the short rib sandwich and they said it was ok, but as one of my roommates put it: «If you’re going to charge this much for a tiny breakfast sandwich, at least put it on a muffin that is fresh made instead of from a bag.» I didn’t drink, so I can’t speak for the cocktails. They do have Dark Matter coffee, so that is a plus. Basically, if you are thinking of going here for brunch: don’t. Go one L stop south to Thorndale stop and check out Broadway cellars. They have better food for the same price point, and they have $ 10AYCD mimosas or bloody Mary’s(the carafe for Mimosas here was like $ 38).

Enjoyed a $ 6 porter and salad here on a work night. The atmosphere is industrial hip and not too loud. They were projecting a movie on the back wall which can added extra character to the place. All around enjoyable.

One of, if not the only place on «this» side of Broadway, north of Lakeview, that you get a nice swank-ish environment, complete with craft beers and cocktails, commonly known as zee Gastropub. I just wish it was open later than restaurant hours, but you can’t have everything.

Wowzers! I came by here for dinner the other night and it certainly did not disappoint. That Adobo Pork Tenderloin was sooo good. I was a bit hesitant with the adobo and coffee rub marinade but it came out so delicious and so tender! It was served with a side of apple and sweet potato hash which complimented nicely with the dish. Yums! I was also really impressed with the cocktail I ordered, the Doctor’s Orders. The drink is scotch based and mixed with ginger liqueur, lemon, and honey then topped off with what tasted like candied ginger to add some additional sweetness as needed. Hope to I’ll be back soon! There was plenty of other items that I wanted to try. If only I had a bigger belly… ‘Til next time, cheers!

Wonderful experience. Came here for dinner last night around 8pm. Upon entering, was greeted by a smiling face and immediately seated. My boyfriend and I ordered a round of cocktails and neither of ours failed to disappoint. As promised, the cocktails were not overly sweet. I ordered the burger with the side of «vegetable of the day.» This side was honestly the highlight of my meal. It consisted of brussel sprouts and an assortment of peppers. So, so good! My boyfriend had the Adobo Pork Tenderloin and it tasted so tender, and truthfully, reminiscent of thanksgiving! The only thing that could make this place better is lowering its price point a tiny bit, but honestly — I was more than happy to pay what I did for dinner! Came out full and content.

I ventured here after reading about it in one of the free propos and when«monkey bread» was featured I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist. The restaurant is a beautiful wood finish with high ceilings and that modern-contemporary-industrial yet homey feel. The bar, the floors, the tables, all beautiful. The art on the walls falls a little short though and could use a more abstract or industrial makeover to match the remaining gorgeous elements. Every time I have come here the owner is working. Every time! I have a major appreciation and admiration for a business owner like that. It shows work ethic, commitment to the brand, and a desire to be a presence in the community, impressive display for the nascent restaurant. Brunch here is fantastic. I’ve made it a custom to start with the monkey bread which is served on cast iron and is just oozing with cinnamon-sugar baked yummy-ness like when you were a kid in home ec class. It’s easy to nosh right through it and be ready for the next course. Who says dessert comes last? I’m uncertain if this is a regular thing but typically when I go there is a four drink special wherein you get two mimosas and two more premium drinks(e.g. — greyhound, bloody mary…) for under $ 25. Again, this could be a special from time to time but I’ve had it at least three times now and it’s such a steal. The greyhound a la Revival is made with gin, limoncello, and grapefruit — an incredible upgrade from the traditional and made by this dark haired bar tender that just melts you with his cheeky grin and knowledge of spirits. The food itself is very hearty and delicious. The potatoes taste like Mom spent all morning slow roasting them while the english muffin’s are grilled and the servers are attentive and smiley. With many breakfast competitors nearby the restaurant does a good job of separating itself from breakfast joints like Ann Sather and is more reminiscent of Francesca’s brunch with a more home-like flare. I definitely recommend giving this place a try for brunch!

We had a Groupon so decided to check the place out during our recent visit to the windy city. The décor of the place is simple but fun, the staff welcoming and friendly. It took longer than normal to get a menu, although our water came right away. I order a tea, but they were out of green tea, oh well. Tea was good, although the spoon that came with it was dirty, although it was addressed well once mentioned to the staff. I had the eggs Benedict with the crab cakes and a side of bacon. Bacon was crisp and yummy, not too greasy. The hollandaise is good, the first egg was cooked just beyond perfect but good, the second egg was even more well done and less runny, the crab cakes had very little filler and a lot of crab. Even the potatoes were flavorful and yummy. My fiancée had the tortilla soup which was well flavored and good. She also have the chilaquiles which were also delicious although they could have used more sauce on the chips. She asked for her eggs over hard which they got right(sadly that is not always the case). Overall above average food and good service and could be fantastic with just a little more attention to the little details.

Went here last night for a bite and a drink. Pretty mellow, but it was a snowy Sunday. Our server was knowledgable, attentive, and charismatic. Everything you want in a server! Atmosphere was clean, chic– kind of had a jazz club feel to it(semi clashing with the Michelle Branch-esque music playing). The food was great. We decided to share everything, and got crab cakes, truffle fries, kale salad and chocolate cake. The cake revisited me in my dreams, and everything else was scrumptious. Definitely coming back! Have four stars just because nothing in particular knocked my socks off, but maybe I just need to try the monkey bread.

I was admittedly bummed when M. Henrietta closed up and Revival Social Club took its space. But after months of passing by, I finally had lunch with a friend here and I must admit the restaurant was surprisingly good. I ordered the chilaquiles and there were quite tasty and had a nice kick to them. I was impressed with the flavoring. There are a lot of dishes that are under ten bucks, so it’s nice for lunch or brunch. They have a nice drink menu, but since it was a weekday I decided not to imbibe, even though it definitely piqued my interest as a place to grab a drink in the future. I had a nice meal at Revival Social Club and if you’re in Edgewater I would certainly recommend it.

My first time here for breakfast and not the last, great service and great food and I see either the owner or manager running around making sure everyone is good, I always appreciate that!

We had brunch there and really enjoyed ourselves. From the bloody mary’s and prosecco/mimosas to the wonderful variety of well prepared/nicely plated food we enjoyed everything. Sounds crazy maybe but one of the best things was their coffee, not the usual Superior Coffee you get out many places rather a wonderful locally roasted AWESOME cup of Joe. Alan, the owner, stopped by several times and was super gracious and friendly and we will be back. BTW Alan, I know you told me the name of the coffee 2 – 3 times but I’m still stuck on Dark Shadows. :(Go here, guys, you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve walked by this restaurant regularly for the last six months, meaning to come in, and finally made it. I don’t know what took so long! I went with my boyfriend and his parents for brunch. Everything was spot on from the beginning. Beautiful décor, lovely liquor selection, well presented menu! We got our coffee and water quickly. Our server(I should have gotten his name!) was friendly and quick, even though he’d also just been sat a 12 top! We got a couple of breakfast skillets, an omelette, candied bacon and monkey bread. My boyfriend said the monkey bread was phenomenal. The chorizo in the skillet was a generous portion and not overly greasy. They had a dill Bloody Mary I heard was delicious, and the fresh-squeezed OJ in my mimosa made it heavenly. We will absolutely be back for another brunch, and we can’t wait to try dinner here!

Unfortunately if you want good service, you need to go somewhere else. In the three times i have been here there has always been service issues. From stalking my table, to a server breakdown and being ignored, to having empty water glasses and coffee mugs. There is no real attention to the customer. This place should be better. Hard to come back for a fourth time.

I was very happy to find this brunch spot near the Granville el. Arriving on a Saturday morning, we actually were able to get in without a wait, which is becoming harder to find these days. The food was all really good — the fruit parfait lovingly crafted of sliced fruit and greek yogurt, the quiche was flaky, buttery and left me seeking every last crumb. I was a little disappointed by the french toast, which was the«eggy fried bread» variety, rather than the coveted«thick, custardy-middle» french toast of my dreams. It won’t stop me from going back, I’ll just try something different. If nothing else, I’ll definitely be back to try the monkey bread — it looked so decadently delicious at the table next to me that I was hard-pressed not to try to snatch a bite!

Came for brunch on a beautiful Saturday and sat outside(everyone else was inside — y’all crazy? Or… do you just like prompt service?) Food — A+ My wife had the grilled cheese with bacon and a side salad and I had the breakfast skillet with spinach instead of chorizo. I had the grapefruit cocktail and my wife had the fresh-squeezed OJ. Everything was flavorful and filling — perfect brunch yums! However, our service was bordering snail-like. While our server was sweet, funny and gave us free coffee(with no sugar or cream), he was absent for long lengths of time — obviously working inside as well as outside. We were also the only table seated outside… but that’s not an excuse. The busser ended up being the stand-out guy who grabbed us what we needed, when we needed it and was around more than our server. I wish I could have tipped the busser directly. We ended up with our drinks dry, plates gone,(busser!) and waving money in the air because our dude was no where to be found. Maybe next time we’ll sit inside… despite the summer temps. :/

I decided to have my birthday dinner at Revival. The staff and owners made me so happy I did. You cannot beat the friendly service here or the lighting! If you are going on a first or second date and want to make a good impression-Revival. Every photo we took was a keeper. I really enjoyed the Argentinian style steak and some small plates that we shared. The merlot(I think) was fantastic also. We took a look at the patio out back and my friends and I were immediately reminded of a similar patio we dined at in Rome. just darling.

Went here for a Sunday brunch — had a reservation via open table and had no issues. Service was good. I am not one of those people with major issues on service in general, so as long as I don’t wait more than 5 minutes or so and food comes out at a reasonable pace, fine by me. I’ll leave it to the service critics to critique beyond that. The coffee is good(a little metallic, but not bad), my friend’s tea with the Indian cream liquor was wonderful. We both had the grilled cheese which was very good — it’s small but very rich. Texas toast is sometimes a turnoff for me, but I thought it worked here. Big complaint was the side salad — the dressing was way too sweet and just not great. Plus, the salad was a bit limp(the plate was warm, which was probably the cause). My friend’s fries looked better(that’s what I get for avoiding fries). The money bread is outstanding — chewy, sweet, amazing. The table on one side of us got theirs with the ice cream on the side, which is what I’ll do next time — it melts too fast otherwise. 4 stars is a little generous — I tend more towards 3.5 like at least one other reviewer, but they have an interesting menu, good looking drinks and options, and you can’t beat the monkey bread, so I’m giving it to them.

Took my mom here for brunch and we thought this place is super cute. You must start with the Monkey Bread!!! Seriously I was smiling the whole time eating it… warm gooey bread doused in cinnamon with ice cream. Your taste sensations will thank you :) For my main course I got the salmon sandwich. It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. It reminded me more of tuna and it was cold, which was disappointing. The fries were on point though. Next time I’ll stick with my first mind and order the chicken sandwich. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable.
