What a beautiful gallery in such a beautiful part of town! It’s also located next to Peter Miller Gallery next door and a few other ones close by. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and the space is really clean.

yes Rhona Hoffman Gallery represents important artists from the historical Avant Garde as well as emerging contemporary artists. no doubt driven by the contemporary art market, their monthly exhibitions are a great place to see interesting work and get turned on to new artists. a weak analogy might be: ‘its like visiting chelsea without leaving chicago’ its a beautiful space in the west loop. the staff is super friendly and helpful. ask them questions about the work(if you’re curious) — they’re very knowledgeable and engaged with the artists and exhibitions they present.

Rhona Hoffman has been around for so long she knows where the Chicago art world bodies are buried. Her gallery has been around equally as long and has an excellent reputation for exhibiting cutting-edge contemporary work by well known international artists. Rhona Hoffman Gallery is also one of the few«circuit» galleries for those artists and regularly competes on equal footing with New York to showcase new work by such artists as Richard Rezac, Dawoud Bey, Leon Golub, Jenny Holzer, Vito Acconci and Fred Sandback. Typical exhibitions can run from painting shows by Nancy Spero to complex process art installations by Spencer Finch. In many respects, Rhona Hoffman Gallery is Chicago’s version of Marian Goodman in New York: respected for its ability to exhibit fresh, mature work by contemporary artists. Prices for original work may be stratospheric, but the staff working for Rhona are pleasant and knowledgeable so you’ll never feel like you can’t ask questions about the art presented.
