Rooftop at Navy Pier

* Nice spot to watch the «fireworks» *
So Saturday night is fireworks night at the tourist trap called the Navy Pier. What a zoo!
I went to a reception at the Rooftop of Lakeview Terrace at the very end of the pier. They have a tent setup outdoors and had a nice view of the water and skyline. It was nicely removed from the chaos downstairs on the pier. Craziness down there!
It also provided for an excellent view of the fireworks. They seemed like they were going to hit us.
As an aside, Celebration of Light in Vancouver (
) is normally a much better fireworks show. More interesting combinations, more artistic, and tightly matched with the music. The fireworks here at the pier were ok, but really not at the same level. (Sorry Chicago!)
But if we had a venue like the rooftop at the Navy Pier for the Celebration of Light that would just be a match made in heaven!
So 4 stars for the venue — but 2 stars for the actual fireworks!
