Food is amazing! Eat lunch at the bar because John O’Malley is the best bartender in the city!

Great steakhouse with friendly service in the theater district. Rosebud Prime definitely keeps up with the great quality I have come to expect from Rosebud restaurants. The steak salad was perfect for a cold day — fresh vegetables(asparagus, beets, lettuce), garbanzo beans, olives and a perfectly cooked and seasoned steak. The bar was packed and the bartender was exceptional with great suggestions, an offer to give me a ½ portion and super friendly. The mini burgers, crab cakes and steaks looked exceptional as well. I will be back for sure.

My co-workers and I decided to check out Rosebud Prime since it was in close proximity to our work. We got there around 12:30(prime lunch time), so we were expecting it to be packed, crowded and loud, which it was. Thankfully, we made a reservation a week before, so we had a table right when we got there. The waiter was so nice; he had such a cheery vibe and was always ecstatic to assist you. We ordered our food relatively quickly. One of my co-workers and I both got the jumbo Maryland crab cake sandwich, and my other co-worker got a steak salad. The crab cake sandwich came with a side of potato wedges and yummy dipping sauce. My co-worker previously came here before and ordered French fries instead of wedges, but the waiter told us that the chef didn’t have any in the back, so she just agreed to the wedges. The food was YUMMY. I absolutely LOVED the sandwich — I think I spent majority of the time there focusing on my sandwich. It was really good. The wedges were a great addition, especially with the dipping sauce. My co-workers liked their food also, so we left satisfied. The only negatives I have is that this is relatively expensive; just for three dishes, our total was around 80 bucks. Also, it was super loud, so when we were speaking, we either had to repeat it a few times or shout, which wasn’t preferable. All in all, really good food, but I wish it was a lil’ bit less expensive!

I hate to give the place two starts — since it’s so very close to me at work, but my last experience there was very disappointing. Mind you — our company has done several functions there in the past and we’ve had no problems, but two weeks ago it was different. A friend organized a table for 10 and the plan was to have drinks and appetizers. She made that known when she called. Then when she got there, since we weren’t having dinner, they shoved us in the bar area at a four top table right next to the piano. The intent was to wait until another four top table to leave and then they would have enough room for us. A little put off by that, but oh well. Our waiter was my main disappointment. First he gave a friend of mine the wrong wine, but then was completely unhelpful to me. I asked him about the happy hour specials and he said he would have to go check. He came back and mentioned the beer and wine special. I told him that I had seen on the web that they had $ 5 martinis. He went and checked with the bartender again and then confirmed with me. I asked him which ones were $ 5 and he said«whatever you want». I said — how about a cosmo? He went and brought me that. Later on in the evening, I ordered a lemon drop martini. Fast forward to the end of the night when the bill came, and lo and behold, he charged me full price for the lemon drop. I pointed out to him this and he said«that was not part of the happy hour.» I explained that was why I had asked initially which martinis were part of the happy hour and he wouldn’t answer. Eventually, he gave me the $ 5 price, but I shouldn’t have had to fight for it. If Rosebud is advertising the happy hour, then they should provide a menu of which ones are part of it AND the waiter should know this information. It’s like they want to «advertise» for it, but do not want anyone to take them up on it.

I’ve been told time and time again how good the burgers are. I finally made it here and was not impressed or turned off in the least. I probably couldn’t pick the burger out of a lineup to be honest with you.

Best classy happy hour downtown! $ 5 martinis and $ 3 small bites makes this a welcome stop for any blue liner. The beef sliders are a lil salty and they were«out of calamari» at 4pm, but you can’t beat the price/quality point anywhere. Nice bartenders and an upscale room makes it the perfect respite for the urban commuter.

Stopped in for a late bite on a Monday. The restaurant was fairly busy at about 9:00 on a Monday. Now I had read somewhere that this place had one of the best burgers in the city so I wanted to try it out. Our order was for a house salad, a wedge salad, scallops, and a burger. The bread selection was brought to our table with the salads. The rolls that we chose did not seem to be very fresh. We both remarked that they tasted somewhat old. Did not go past a bite on them. Salads were OK, nothing remarkable. Scallops were presented with some wasabi hidden on the top of them under some topping. Wow, the wasabi was hot and kind of overpowered the scallops. As for the burger, it was a pretty solid rendition. Was it the best in the city? Nope. It was pretty good but not the best I ever had. As for service, it was just so-so. The waiter seemed indifferent towards our order since it was not going to result in a massive bill leading towards a large gratuity. Well, it was late and this is what we wanted to order so it should be treated the same as if we were going to drop a couple hundred on dinner. Our table also sucked, but we took it instead of sitting at the bar. Three stars at best for our experience. Only took a pic of the wedge salad. Cheers to all

What a fantastic experience we had at Rosebud Prime on Saturday, November 7th. My friend and I were treated like royalty. The waiter was very attentive as were the rest of the staff. And the food!!! Are you kidding me. The steak was fantastic but the roasted cauliflower was to die for. Everything was so fresh and you could actually taste the food. No seasonings needed. Highly recommend. It is a little pricey but definitely worth every penny

I came here a few days ago for my 21st birthday and it was absolutely amazing. The restaurant itself is ridiculously gorgeous and fancy. My boyfriend and I got a nice large booth for just the two of us. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and answered our questions with complete confidence. I got the cowgirl ribeye and my boyfriend got a full slab of ribs. My steak was soooooo delicious. Thinking about it right now is making my mouth water. My boyfriend loves his ribs, especially the sauce! He said it was the best sauce he’s ever had with ribs. We also had cheddar bacon mashed potatoes as our side. It was delicious as well. All in all, it can be a bit pricy. This is a great place to go to for a special occasion(or if you have money to blow, haha). I would definitely come back here again. I probably will eventually for that amazing steak. Mmmmm.

This up-scale, trendy restaurant is guaranteed to please! Our entire evening of drinking and dining was really enjoyable. The atmosphere is classy and trendy, but not pretentious. The dining room(2 levels) is small enough to feel intimate, but not so small that you cant get a seat with only a couple hours notice. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server was able to help pair side dishes with our entrees and picked an ideal wine. He gave us great attention all evening, without being overbearing. The restaurant knows what it is, a great steak house. The menu is short and concise, it has a few non-steak items; however, it focuses on one thing, great steaks and chops. The quality of our meals was outstanding. Each dinner cooked perfectly. The six of us had a great time, in a classy joint. I plan to return next time I am in Chicago.

Group of six walked in late. Was not crowded. Seated immediately. Very friendly staff. Had the sea food tower for six and was very good. Little rushed on the prep as there were a lot of shell fragments in the crab, lobster and oysters, but we managed. Very fresh and great flavor. I had the delmonico and it was perfect. Variety of steaks and specials and we were licking our plates. Truffle tater tots were tops! We had 2 – 3 other sides but I avoided them in lieu of apple pie. So glad I did. I hear this isn’t the original but was my first time in Chicago. I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

Not a budget diner but for that special occasion this is your go-to place. Service was great, food was excellent. It is «cozy» aka loud. The seats are close together so if you’re looking for intimate, keep looking. But for an excellent steak, this is it!

The wine we had was lovely. The filet was cooked perfectly and were delicious with or without herb butter. The mashed potatoes were sinfully good and the broccoli was cooked just right! The vegetable plate was good but definitely not worth the price. The salads looked amazing, so next time I’ll be ordering a salad and continue to steal steak from my date. It’s a cozy little place that’s perfect for a classier night out.

The good: — very friendly staff from the bar tender to waiter — the food was delicious(had scalloped potatoes plus the special which was a double bone veal chop done Oscar style The needs improvement: Not much to say here but if I would change anything it might be the décor

I ordered a petite filet and it was delicious but it is expected since restaurant is expensive. They have a wide selection of wine. I ordered a red French wine and that also was great. The service was excellent we had Mark and he was great and very attentive. We went on a Saturday night and there was live piano music going on. Great experience, loved it.

The noise level at Rosebud Prime is so incredibly loud that diners sitting right next to another or across from another can not hear a word the other is saying. That’s where I think Rosebud Prime cannot improve its stars by food alone. Unless one can figure out a time to go when no others will be dining simultaneously, forget having conversation. If the focal point is food, this is a good, solid choice. The linguine with clams(white sauce) are delicious with just the right amount of clams, garlic, sauce, spices, Parmesan. The portion is large enough to gorge and still have enough for leftovers. I never stay for dessert since the noise level is so vociferous and high energy, my friends and I just want to walk outside to hear ourselves think.

Ordered the Filet, asparagus, and house salad. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was tender and flavorful. The asparagus and house salad were basic and decent. The atmosphere is lively without being too loud and I enjoyed the piano during dinner.

First time trying this place and one word: YUM. We enjoyed the creamed spinach as an appetizer and my first time having that ever — YUMMM. I would get it again for sure. I indulged in simple fish n chips but they were amazing and delicious. Also ordered at the table was the sea bass and the flounder topped lobster carb meat. all delicious fish entrees! Enjoyed after drink capiccinos as well. Very good, and fairly large compared to ordering them in Europe. Seated outside which was great. the inside is gorgeous as well.

A colleague and I were looking for a good place to go for a nice sit-down lunch while in the loop. We knew about Rosebud Prime because it’s right by our office but had never been in before. We made an 11:30 reservation and when we arrived we were seated immediately by very friendly and professional wait staff. If the weather was a little better we would have sat out on the patio instead. The dining room is well appointed with a mixture of tables and booths, much like Ruth’s Chris in River North. There’s also an upstairs with a balcony overlooking the dining room. It would definitely be cool to sit up there. The lunch menu is relatively small but given that this is a steak house you know generally have an idea about what to order ;) I went with the tenderloin club while my colleague went with a petite sirloin cooked medium with asparagus. The food arrived relatively quickly and the tenderloin club was delicious. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and definitely tasted far better than the $ 18 price tag would suggest. My colleagues steak was a little underdone but he enjoyed it as well. Would I go back? Yes! The staff were great, the food was good, and the location is perfect. This is a great steakhouse in the loop and beats many of the other sit-down options nearby. 4 stars!

Had dinner here prior to a musical at the Bank of America theatre. It’s a really fancy place, most of the men were wearing jackets, and it’s so close to the theatre that it’s a great dinner option for before. Our server was very conscious of our time constraints the whole time, as well. We started off with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was tasty, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the Petite Filet Oscar style(prepared with crab meat and a bearnaise sauce), which was cooked perfectly but was a little disappointing for what I was expecting. The crab was flavorless and the bearnaise was minimal. My boyfriend got the Cowboy Style Ribeye prepared with foie gras butter which was incredible! Moist and so flavorful! If I could reorder I would have done a filet with the foie gras butter! Dessert consisted of the berries sabayon, which was refreshing and so fresh! Cons — The timing of our meal was terrible, our entrees came out at basically the same time as the entrees, which is a restaurant sin in my book! Biggest pro — Foie Gras Butter!!! Mmmmm
